Showmatch Gives First Look At DisguisedToast’s League Of Legends Roster

The North American League of Legends has been a mess over the past few weeks. Just a month before the Summer split of the North American Challengers League was set to begin, Riot Games announced that LCS organizations were no longer mandated to carry an academy team. This led to seven of the ten LCS organizations dropping their academy rosters. This, along with a number of other changes, gutted the NACL. While Riot attempted to mitigate the disaster of their own creation, another nail in the coffin hammered down. Fan favorite semi-pro team TikTok Tony Top announced they would be disbanding due to financial constraints.

In the days prior to the LCS Players Association calling for a strike vote ahead of the LCS Summer split, Riot once again attempted to mitigate the negative press. They announced that one of the now vacant NACL slots would be taken by Disguised, a team overseen by former Hearthstone pro and massively popular streamer, Jeremy “DisguisedToast” Wang. Toast is an avid League of Legends player and while fans welcomed his involvement, it wasn’t enough to turn the tide against Riot. However, we have now gotten our first look at the roster Disguised could be fielding in the NACL.

Disguised Debuts Roster Of LCS Veterans

In lieu of a formal announcement, Disguised debuted their roster during a best-of-three showmatch against the former roster of Delta Fox. The roster that Toast has put together is stacked with well-known LCS veterans. Manning the top lane is Aaron “FakeGod” Lee, a six-split veteran of the LCS who also comes off a first-place finish with Cloud9 Challengers in the NACL Spring split. Roaming the jungle is Tomio “Tomio” Chan. Tomio is a long-time member of Evil Geniuses Academy who also won the NACL Spring split title on Cloud9 Challengers.

Disguised’s mid laner is Youngho “Young” Choi, who spent the Spring split as a sub on Golden Guardians. Another academy veteran can be found at ADC in Brandon “Meech” Choi. Meech has spent time in the systems of Dignitas, Immortals, and CLG. Finally, joining Meech in the bot lane is support Tristan “Zeyzal” Stidam. Playing his first LCS split in 2018, Zeyzal went to two World Championships with Cloud9. Most recently, after stepping away from the game in 2022, he won the NACL Spring Split. The team is being coached by Greyson “Goldenglue” Glimer, a veteran LCS player who transitioned to coaching in 2021. After their showmatch with Delta Fox, Disguised will join the NACL for the start of the summer split next week. Follow all the latest esports news here at HotNewHipHop.

Scar Lip Signed To Epic Records

Scar Lip recently signed to Epic Records, according to photos circulating online. One photo shows the rapper posing alongside a sign that reads, “Epic welcomes Scar Lip.” She now joins other artists on their roster like 21 Savage, Future, Travis Scott, and more. The young MC also joins Swizz Beatz on the lineup, who recently said he felt his mentee was “sent” to him by the late DMX.

“I honestly feel like DMX sent Scar Lip my way because she’s too much of his energy,” Swizz told The Breakfast Club. “Like I’ve never seen an artist that just naturally have what I know DMX have. And they two different artists, two different levels, yes. But I’m not talking about that. You know, like, that sister’s been through a lot, like Dog been through a lot.” He added, “she’s amazing and [has] a great heart the same way X had a great heart.”

Scar Lip’s Rise To Success

Christian Braun Could Become Just The Sixth College-NBA Back-To-Back Champion

Christian Braun played 101 games for the University of Kentucky between 2019 and 2022. In those 101 games, Braun averaged 10.1 points, 5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists. However, he came into his own in his junior season, averaging 14.1 points as he helped Kansas win their first national championship since 2008. Subsequently, he went 21st overall in the 2022 NBA Draft, joining the Denver Nuggets. Per SB Nation: “Love this pick for the Nuggets. Braun plays with great intensity, can get after it at the point of attack defensively, and has even more shooting upside than his college numbers show. He was a key part of a national title team at Kansas, and should be able to contribute right away for a Nuggets team with title aspirations this year.”

Braun played in 76 games for the Nuggets in his rookie season, averaging 4.7 points in 15.5 minutes per game. He has played sparingly during the playoffs but saw upwards of 13 minutes against the Suns in the second round. However, with the Nuggets in the NBA Finals (and the heavy favorites to win), Braun has the chance to do something that only five other players have done in history.

Braun Could Join The Likes Of Magic And Russell

DENVER, COLORADO – APRIL 19: Christian Braun #0 of the Denver Nuggets goes to the basket against Rudy Gobert #27 of the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first quarter during Round 1 Game 2 of the NBA Playoffs at Ball Arena on April 19, 2023 in Denver, Colorado. (Photo by Matthew Stockman/Getty Images)

If the Nuggets win the NBA Finals, that would mean Braun would have won an NCAA and NBA title in back-to-back seasons. While you might think that, given the number of players drafted every year, it would be a fairly common occurrence, it has only happened five times in NBA history. This is in part due to the large parity at the college level. However, it has happened just five times.

The first player to complete the feat was Arnie Ferrin, who won a National Championship with Utah in 1948 before winning the NBA title with the Lakers in 1949. He has since been joined by Bill Russell (1957), Henry Bibby (1973), Magic Johnson (1980), and most recently Billy Thompson (1987). That’s a very impressive list of names for the rookie to join if the Nuggets are able to beat the Heat. The NBA Finals begin in Denver on June 1.

Kanye West Has Allegedly Already Made A Staggering Amount From Yeezy Restock

Kanye West and Adidas had a very public falling out late in 2022. Overall, Adidas had no choice but to drop Kanye West as he was making some very anti-Semitic statements in the media. Moreover, Ye was making it apparent that he no longer wanted to be signed there. In the end, it just made sense to terminate the deal and cut some losses. However, Adidas was left with over $500 million in Yeezy stock and no one to sell it to. This subsequently led to a compromise that has now created a sell-off event.

Starting yesterday, Adidas started to roll out some Yeezy restocks for shoes that they had left in the vault. Overall, these releases have been incredibly successful for the brand. They have dropped off a ton of great shoes so far, and fans have been copping as many as they can. Of course, Kanye West is set to get a nice royalty from all of this, 15 percent to be exact. The account @kanyewestaurant_ has actually been keeping track of the numbers, and they are looking quite good for Ye.

Kanye West Yeezys By The Numbers

So far, over 680,000 pairs have been sold. Based on the price of these sneakers, it would appear as though Adidas has made themselves upwards of $170 million. Additionally, over $25 million of this will go to Kanye West himself. Much of the rest will go to various organizations that seek to combat racism and anti-Semitism. As it stands, there are still a couple of drops to go, which means Adidas will be able to recoup a whole more in the coming days. This is also good for Ye, who clearly would like to have some extra income right now.

There have been some great sneakers to return to the market. That said, don’t expect anymore Yeezys beyond this point. This was one final restock, and it will never happen again. If the designs do come back, they will come back without any trace of Yeezy branding. Let us know if you have copped anything from the restock, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the sneaker world.

Prosecutors Seek R. Kelly’s Funds Held By UMG And Sony Music

According to court documents, federal prosecutors have moved to seize property held by UMG and Sony Music, belonging to R. Kelly. They claim that money held by the companies could be used to help pay off victim restitutions as well as criminal fines, as he has a great deal of outstanding debt. Kelly currently owes his victims over $500,000 and has failed in making the appropriate payments, according to prosecutors. Their notice to Sony Music asks, “Whether the Garnishee has in its possession, custody or control any property of the Debtor, including non-exempt, disposable earnings.” R. Kelly is currently serving a total of 31 years in prison, for various charges including child pornography, sex trafficking, and other forms of abuse.

Last month, Kelly was transported from the Metropolitan Correctional Facility in Chicago to a medium-security facility in North Carolina, where he currently resides. Kelly’s lawyer, Jennifer Bonjean, later commented on the move, stating, “He continues to suffer from health issues caused by medical negligence at the MCC Chicago.” She added, We are hopeful that [the new facility] will ensure that his medical needs are met.” R. Kelly also filed to appeal his crimes in April, citing issues he had with the jury that convicted him as well as various pieces of evidence that were submitted.

R. Kelly Owes His Victims

Timbaland also recently got slammed on social media for calling the convicted sex offender “the king of R&B.” Earlier this month, he told Shannon Sharpe of the Club Shay Shay podcast that he believes we should separate art from the artist when it comes to R. Kelly. “We all know that, man. And it’s funny, I’m glad you talk about that, because I be having talks- everybody jump when you say R. Kelly,” he explained.

Timbaland continued, “I’m like, ‘So we just gonna ignore his music that he gave us, that we all jam to?’ No, we can’t do that. His art is his art, I ain’t gonna bash the man’s art. Don’t mix music up with personal. Music is a feeling, it stands alone. Music is something that don’t have no race, it brings people together. It don’t have no drama with it. It is a place of enjoyment, a feeling, so don’t bring drama into music. Leave that outside.” One social media user called Timbaland’s take an “airhead comment.”

Boston Celtics Not Looking To Replace Joe Mazzulla

It’s already been a whirlwind of an offseason in terms of coaching changes in the NBA. The Bucks, Raptors, Rockets, Pistons, Sixers, and Suns have all moved on from their head coaches. At the time of writing, only the Raptors and Suns are yet to announce a new head coach.

However, many were speculating as to whether Boston Celtics would join the coaching hunt. Despite entering the playoffs as the second seed, the Celtics never played like a second seed. They needed six games to beat the Hawks, and seven to eliminate the Sixers. Then, they found themselves in a 0-3 hole to begin in the Eastern Conference Finals. Despite miraculously tying the series at 3-3, the Celtics were embarrassingly blown out in Game 7. This led to further speculation that head coach Mazzulla might be looking for a new job.

Stevens Backs Mazzulla

“He’s a terrific leader, he’ll only get better at anything that he can learn from this year, because he’s constantly trying to learn. And he’s accountable. Those leadership qualities are hard to find. I know they’re easy to talk about, but when you can show all those through the expectations and the microscope that he was under, that’s hard to do,” Celtics GM Brad Stevens told reporters. “Our players, our staff, everybody around him believe(s) in him, and we’ve got to do our best to support him going forward. Yeah, I think he is (the best head coach for this team),” Stevens said. “I thought he did a really good job with this group. Everybody’s going to overreact to the best players and coaches after every game. That’s always the way it is. We know that going in, so we have to be able to judge things on the whole.”

However, it also came out Thursday that a number of Boston assistants will be leaving to join former head coach Ime Udoka in Houston. “First of all, Joe’s experience now, you can probably measure in dog years, right?” Stevens said. “Because now he’s been in three Eastern Conference Finals and an (NBA ) Finals, and he’s been now the head coach throughout one of those runs. I mean, that’s an experience in and of itself,” Stevens argued. However, he did also note that the team would hire “at least one” new assistant.

Jay Williams Delivers Wild NBA Finals Hot Take

Jay Williams is a former NBA player who has been able to make a living on ESPN. Overall, he is certainly someone with an interesting perspective. Although, he can be quite polarizing. Some love him because he defends the players from slander. However, on numerous occasions, he can be seen coddling the players and refusing to really critique them. Ultimately, it is a similar trap to what JJ Redick has been going through. That is especially true as they are on First Take, which is all about hot takes.

Overall, First Take is eating right now thanks to the fact that the NBA Finals start tonight. Of course, fans are very excited for the Denver Nuggets to take on the Miami Heat. It should be an interesting series, although most believe the Nuggets will win this one easily. After all, they come into this series with the number one seed, while the Heat barely got into the postseason. While the Heat have played extremely well, one would have to assume that it all ends here.

Jay Williams Speaks

Subsequently, with the Finals starting tonight, Jay Williams gave his opinion on the series. Unsurprisingly, he is taking the Denver Nuggets in this series. However, he went far with it as he claimed that this would be a full sweep. He doesn’t expect the Heat to get a single win in the series. Of course, this raised a few eyebrows, including those of Stephen A. Smith, who truly seemed shocked.

When you take into consideration the will and determination of Jimmy Butler, you would have to assume that the Heat could steal at least one game. However, the Nuggets will be determined to wrap this up fast. Nikola Jokic has a lot to prove, and he wants to prove why he should have been MVP. Let us know what you think of Jay Williams and his hot take, down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more sports news.

Tom Brady Reiterates Retirement

There has been a lot of speculation as to whether Tom Brady will unretire for a second time. “I don’t want speak for Tom, I wouldn’t rule anything out,” Troy Aikman speculated. “I would bet that just nothing is off the table, as far as what may occur during the season or what Tom’s role may be.”

Furthermore, TMZ went as far as to confirm with the NFL if Brady would be able to play for the Raiders. Brady recently purchased a minority ownership stake in the team. Additionally, the Raiders QB room is a little shaky heading into offseason training. According to an NFL spokesperson who answer questions from TMZ, as long as Brady passes two votes from the NFL owners, he could both own the Raiders and start under center for them. However, Tom Brady has now come out to set the record straight.

No Return Says Brady

“I’m certain I’m not playing again, so I’ve tried to make that clear and I hate to continue to profess that, cause I’ve already told people that lots of times,” Brady told Sports Illustrated on Thursday. Later in the day, Brady told ESPN in an interview with SportsCenter that becoming a part-time NFL owner is a “dream come true. I want to be involved in the NFL for the next 45 years of my lfe.”

Brady also spoke about his relationship with his long-time coach Bill Belichick while appearing on ESPN. “He very much trusted what I was out there doing in the field, and it went both ways. Ultimately our success was because so many people in the organization, as coach Belichick always said, ‘do your job,’ and I did as quarterback and leader,” Brady said. Furthermore, he noted that Belichick “was one of the first people to text me after we won the Super Bowl in Tampa.” This seemed to put to bed any rumors that there was bad blood between the pair. However, it appears that Brady wants to be very clear that he is not coming back to the NFL in a playing capacity anytime soon. Follow all the latest sports news here at HotNewHipHop.
