In honor of Black Music Month, Afr!Ca Haus will hold its inaugural brunch in Hollywood Hills on Saturday, June 29th, at 12 PM (Pacific Time). This brunch aims to elevate, celebrate, and connect the industry’s most influential creatives and business masterminds, fostering cross-pollination and leveraging opportunities for economic prosperity in Black communities worldwide. The Chicago Bulls are one day from draft day and odds are that while they have a solid strategy in place, rapper Lil Durk is offering some strategic (and financial) assistance, announcing that he would pay LeBron and son Bronny James‘ salaries if they were to join the Bulls franchise.

Taking to Instagram, Chicago native Lil Durk shared an exchange between him and LeBron that went as follows:

“You and Bronny come to Chicago s— I’ll pay you if I got to,” tagging the Chicago Bulls’ Instagram account and saying: “Idc (I don’t care) if I got to go half @chicagobulls it’s time lol.”

While it doesn’t appear that LeBron has much reason to leave the Lakers franchise (and the maximum-paying contract that he is receiving), a new head coach (JJ Redick) and the placement of his son Bronny (who relinquished his NCAA eligibility to enter the NBA draft) may impact his plans for the upcoming season. The Bulls organization has not expressed public interest in either James joining their organization either.

Additionally, despite what Durk has in enthusiasm, he may lack in funding. Reports place Durk’s current net worth at $8 million, which would make it difficult to pay down the tab on James’ eligible extension contract (which is worth $162 million).

As for Durk, a Chicago fan can still dream- and with the recent shakeup of a trade involving Alex Caruso for Josh Giddey (with more moves likely to come soon), Durk might just see a solid season for his hometown franchise.

Denzel Curry & That Mexican OT Shred A Nasty Trap Beat On “BLACK FLAG FREESTYLE”

Denzel Curry now has one of the most hyped-up rap projects on deck with King Of The Mischievous South Vol. 2. The follow-up mixtape to the 2012 original will drop on July 19 and will feature numerous heavy hitters. Fans can expect to hear Ty Dolla $ign, Juicy J, A$AP Ferg (FERG), TiaCorine, A$AP Rocky, and plenty more. So far, Zel has put forth five singles, with the first dating all the way back to August of last year. Now, Denzel Curry is up to number six with “BLACK FLAG FREESTYLE”.

Every song will have some guest performer in the fold, and on this one, it is That Mexican OT. The Texas rapper has had quite the last 12 months or so, dropping viral singles. However, this feature placement on “BLACK FLAG FREESTYLE” may be another springboard for him. This single is technically not out yet, as Denzel and OT linked up to perform it on the 4 Shooters Only YouTube series, “From The Block”. That being said, this track should be coming to streaming platforms shortly. Overall, this is another banger for Denzel, as him and OT make light work of a grimy and grim Southern trap instrumental that would have come from the Raider Klan days.

Tommy Richman Is Already Preparing His Debut Album, “Coyote”

Tommy Richman has announced his debut album, Coyote, and the project is dropping soon. Sharing pictures from a photoshoot with Billboard on Instagram, Monday, he wrote: “ANNOUNCING MY DEBUT ALBUM. ITS CALLED COYOTE. BACK OF BILLBOARD MAGAZINE. Thx @billboard. SHOT BY JOSH BELVEDERE.” The move comes just two months after the release of his breakout single, “Million Dollar Baby.”

When the NFR Podcast reposted the news on X (formerly Twitter), fans were surprised by the announcement. “This dude moving quick,” one fan replied. “Usually mfs that come out the gate with a hit will stretch the hit for like a year with remixes and sh*t before they do anything else. Like dawg yall remember jack harlow had what’s poppin summer of ‘19? That sh*t was everywhere for over a year before he dropped an album.” Even Russ responded with praise for Richman: “He’s moving with a sense of urgency and capitalizing on momentum unlike a lot of artists who catch 1 song and parade around for a year and then miss their moment. Kudos to him and his team. You can tell the artists who are prepared to blow up vs the ones who aren’t. Move like you know it’s gonna happen.”

Drake Fans Theorize He Was Taking A Shot At Joe Budden With His “One Trick Ponies” Post

Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s beef has been so hostile and viral that it’s dominated much of the discussion in rap music for months now. Some fans may have even forgotten how many others were initially involved. Rick Ross, Metro Boomin, J. Cole, The Weeknd, and Future were all also roped in. But it wasn’t just rappers involved as many relevant members of the rap media landscape also found them selves caught up in the back and forth. Now, one of Drake’s fans on Twitter came up with a theory that he may have taken shots directly at Joe Budden with a recent Instagram post.

The post dropped earlier this week and fans initially assumed Drake was still talking about Kendrick Lamar. “Goats don’t worry about one trick ponies,” the caption of the post reads. While fans disagreed on what exactly Drizzy might be referencing, there was no concrete answer. But earlier this week a fan on Twitter thinks they may have put it all together. In a post with over 2k likes, a user contrasts Drake’s post with a clip from Joe Budden’s podcast. In the clip, Budden uses the same “one trick pony” phrase that pops up in Drake’s caption, leading some to speculate that it was a direct reference to the podcast host.

Fans Think Drake Took Shots At Joe Budden

The rap world is still very much feeling the fallout from the beef. Just last week Rick Ross updated the cover art for his diss track “Champagne Moments. “ The move sparked renewed interest in the beef and the strange stories that Ross has been swept up in since it happened. That’s similar to the discussion sparked from the revelation of what Kendrick Lamar thought the first time he heard “Family Matters.”

Lil B Brings Hazy & Spacey Vibes To Massive 37-Song Expedition “The Book Of Flame”

Lil B is one of hip-hop’s goofy, yet compelling legends the game has ever seen. The Berkeley, California native has some sort of aura to him that is hard to pinpoint. He is elusive while simultaneously being extremely active every year. Furthermore, he is not a hitmaker but still an incredibly influential figure. People can discredit the guy all they want, but he is a respected man amongst his peers. Not too long ago, Lil B came through with a new tape called The Book of Flame, as he continues to build out his discography.

Rob Schneider Goes Off On Will Smith In Explicit Rant

Rob Schneider went after Will Smith in an explicit-ridden rant during an appearance on The Kyle & Jackie O Show. In doing so, he labeled the Oscar winner an “a**hole” who is a “liar” and “utter fraud” behind the scenes, despite his nice-guy reputation. “Will Smith has been hiding the fact of who he really is and it was exposed that night that he’s really an a**hole,” he said, referencing the Academy Awards ceremony during which he slapped host Chris Rock.

“It’s a deep, dark thing to do that in front of all those people and to a really great legendary comedian, who’s literally the best comedian of our generation,” Schneider said. “You wouldn’t have this whole wave of comedy that came after if it wasn’t for Chris Rock. He’s kicked open the doors.”

Smith received a 10-year ban from the Academy Awards for the incident, which Schneider says wasn’t harsh enough. “Will is a douchebag,” Schneider said. “The thing is that’s how politically correct the Academy is. That they were so cowardly because if I would have done that, they would have been hauled off to prison.” He further theorized the organization was “so worried about being racist or whatever.” He added: “The point is, violence is what it is. Tems drops highly-anticipated debut album, Born in the Wild

Tems drops highly anticipated debut album

Following a long string of success with chart-topping singles, Tems’ debut album has finally dropped and does not disappoint.

Born in the Wild, which dropped June 7, showcases the artist’s lyrical genius as well as her versatility and range from the hypnotic opening track “Born in the Wild” to the dance-track beat-heavy sound of “Forever” to her own spin on hip-hop on “T-Unit.”

The artist’s eclectic musical influences are evident throughout the 18-song album, which includes previously released track “Love Me Jeje” and include R&B, African beats and rhythms, soul, hip-hop, and poetry “Burning” is reminiscent of old-school R&B sounds, but with a distinct switch up of pace that keeps the listener engaged while simultaneously being hypnotized by Tems’ voice, which is overlaid to sound almost like a duet on the track.

The Nigerian singer’s African influence is evidence with the subtle Afrobeats sound that’s infused with a classic R&B sound in the musical tracks as well as the spoken interludes.  Tems’ musical ability never overshadows her talent for lyricism with her poetic capabilities shining through exceptionally well on “Ready.”

Guest artists include Asake (in the Reggae-esque “Get it Right”) and J. Cole (on “Free Fall”), demonstrating her ability to weave seamlessly between genres all on the same album.

As for the name and symbolism behind the debut album, Tems stated: “Born In The Wild is a story of transformation, from a cocoon to a butterfly,” continuing to explain that the album “speaks on surviving mental wilderness and coming to a place where one can thrive. It’s about finally accepting oneself and embodying the woman I was born to be. It shows the different dimensions of who I am, from a cub to a lioness.”

The album release coincides with Tems’ upcoming BORN IN THE WILD WORLD TOUR, which starts on June 12 in London and will continue throughout Europe and North America before heading to Africa and finally concluding in Australia on November 15. While a definitive tracklist has yet to be released, listeners now know to expect an appearance from none other than Lil Durk.
