Chlöe And Jeremih’s Twerk-Filled Video For ‘Shake’ Shows Off The NSFW Side Of Carnival

Uproxx cover star Chlöe is a sucker for a good contemporary R&B ballad. But the “Boy Bye” singer has proven to be a mastermind when it comes to electronic fusion.

Her latest album, Trouble In Paradise, showcases Chlöe’s balance of the worlds. On her latest single, “Shake” featuring Jeremih, blends her R&B likeness and love of EDM. The official video is just as fun.

In the twerk-filled visual directed by Boma Iluma, Chlöe shows off the NSFW side of carnival. Back in July, Chlöe posted her glorious ‘Queen Of Hearts’ costume, which broke the internet. Now, it has been the centerpiece of the visual.

As Chlöe makes her way around the celebration, there is a sea of people enjoying one another’s company (whining waists, clapping cheeks, and all).

Over on Instagram, Chlöe spoke about the inspiration for the video. “I wanted to drop something special for you guys in honor of ‘Trouble in Paradise’ being out for a month,” she wrote. “Enjoy this video to ‘Shake.’ Watch the full thing on my YouTube channel. I want those booties bouncing and shaking.”

Chloe Enlists Ty Dolla $ign, Anderson .Paak, Sister Halle & More For Sophomore Effort “Trouble In Paradise”

The lead up to Chloe Bailey’s new album Trouble In Paradise has been one of pessimism on the listeners’ side. One of half of the Atlanta R&B duo Chloe x Halle was being bombarded with flop predictions due to what critics feel was not enough promotion. However, the 26-year-old songstress has been taking the doubts in stride and with confidence, something that this album has plenty of. This follows up her debut from just over a year ago, In Pieces. Just looking at each of the projects on tracklists alone, you can see that Chloe feels she can work alongside some more established names in her field. Those include Ty Dolla $ign, Jeremih, and Anderson .Paak.

We’d say that Chloe does more than enough to hold her own on these collaborations from Trouble In Paradise. What also is showing confidence in her skills are the production choices. This 16-song set features many subsets of R&B such as contemporary, Afrobeats, and pop. What also sets this LP apart from its predecessor are Chloe’s dynamic and showstopping vocal performances. The range she puts on display is quite amazing and great examples of this include “Same Lingerie”, “Rose”, “Might As Well”, and the intro, “All I Got (Free Falling)”. Chloe told the haters she feels she can never flop because she’s making music she loves. That is apparent here and we would say it’s more so than ever before.

Chlöe Unveils Highly Anticipated Project ‘Trouble In Paradise’

Chlöe Unveils Highly Anticipated Project 'Trouble In Paradise'

Following her hit single “Boy Bye” and a memorable tribute to Usher at the BET Awards, Chlöe has released her most anticipated project yet, Trouble In Paradise. The album, which Chlöe executive produced, offers a deep dive into her artistic vision and cements her role as a multi-talented artist.

Inspired by her journey to St. Lucia, this 16-track project features collaborations with her sister Halle on the fan-favorite “Want Me,” as well as contributions from Ty Dolla $ign, Anderson.Paak, Jeremih, and YG Marley. Accompanying the album is a visual project that captures Chlöe’s St. Lucia experience, adding a vibrant visual layer to her music.

Chlöe reflects on the album’s significance, saying, “This project is truly about writing away my troubles in paradise. The water and the brewing storm symbolize my emotions and how it changes like the weather. I wanted this project to feel fun and even though there are ups and downs, it’s a fun wild ride like a summer fling: unpredictable, exciting, and new.”

Chlöe’s Questioning ‘Want Me’ Is The Long-Awaited Reunion With Her Sister Halle

There’s Trouble In Paradise, but Chloe X Halle fans are probably more than happy to hear it, as the new album from Chlöe, the older half of the sister act, finally reunites with her younger sibling Halle on the standout track, “Want Me.” A wistful track that finds the duo pondering one of life’s most relatable phenomena (“why is it the ones we don’t want that want us?”) over a downtempo beat composed of a simple guitar loop complimented by finger snaps.

“Want Me” represents the first time the sisters have released a record together since 2020, when they released their breakout sophomore album, Ungodly Hour, which launched them into the upper echelons of stardom. Since then, they’ve both embarked on successful, but disparate solo careers, with Chlöe delving into more grown-up material with her debut solo single, “Have Mercy,” in 2021, and eventually releasing her first solo album, In Pieces, last year.

Halle, meanwhile, took a seemingly more wholesome route after securing the lead role in Disney’s The Little Mermaid remake, then landing a vital role in the musical Color Purple film. Halle kicked off 2024 with the announcement of the birth of her baby Halo, and while she’s released a solo track of her own, she also decided to take a break from being in the public eye to regroup after admitting to having “severe” postpartum depression.

Uproxx cover star Chlöe wants her music to step for itself. Today (August 5), the “Have Mercy” singer announced her sophomore album’s official title and release date.

Over on her official X (formerly Twitter) profile, Chlöe shared the news with her followers by way of a steamy vacation photo. She seemingly confirmed that the enticing neon visual was the forthcoming project’s official cover art, as she wrote: “A storm is coming. Trouble In Paradise, 8/9 🌊.”

While most supporters were excitement for the reveal, others shared their concerns over Chlöe’s decision to forgo a traditional rollout.

But in the singer’s eyes, this isn’t a worry she shares with her Clovers (super fans). Although the tracklist hasn’t been revealed, over on the upcoming album’s pre-save webpage the music video for her past song “Boy Bye” is prominently embedded, a record Chlöe has spoken at length about.

Also, the songwriter’s Instagram feed served as a hint as to her creative direction this go around. While her risqué vacation flicks received all the attention, clips of her hard at work let the public into her next musical era beyond her solo debut, In Pieces.
