“My missing photo with Tupac,” Hawk captioned the post. “I attended the American Music Awards in 1991 because my sister was there performing with Michael Bolton. While backstage, I saw Tupac standing alone and I recognized him from Digital Underground (go listen to ‘Same Song’ for context). His first album had not dropped yet, and nobody else seemed to notice him. I took a picture of him and [Riley’s mom] Cindy, and I thought she took one of him and me.”

He continued: “This was in the era of point-and-shoot film cameras so results were unreliable. Unfortunately I never found the photo once the roll was developed. In a recent Interview Magazine feature, Lil Wayne had a conversation with professional skateboarder Tony Hawk. The two discussed skating, and Lil Wayne shared some funny stories. He revealed that after he installed a quarterpipe outside of the Hit Factory in Miami, Meek Mill took a spill while trying to drop in.

“I couldn’t stop Meek Mill, though. I had a quarter pipe in Miami in the parking lot of a studio called the Hit Factory,” Lil Wayne explained, “A lot of artists record there, so when they would pull up, they’d be like, ‘What is that?’ Some of them don’t know what a quarter pipe is.” He went on, “So he stood at the top, skateboard ready, lifted up like he’s about to drop in. I’m like, ‘Please don’t, man.’ He’s like, ‘Nah, man. I ride bikes all day. This can’t be nothing.’ I’m like, ‘It’s not the same.’ And of course, he totally fell and taught himself a lesson about that. I tried to stop him.”

Lil Wayne also revealed that he tries to discourage Drake from skateboarding at all, due to the artist’s “cluminess.” He explains, “Drake has been on the scene at a park with a skateboard in his hand, and we’ve all quickly stopped him, like, ‘Don’t even attempt it,’ because he’s a very clumsy guy.”

Lil Wayne continues, “Drake hurts himself by just performing, and he’ll get real injuries. He’ll be on crutches the next day, and you be like, ‘Wait, all you did was fall onstage, right?’” He adds, “So he’s one of those guys. But he plays basketball a lot, so I think that has a lot to do with why he gets hurt. But as far as him on the board and me trying to get him to skate? No.”

Last year, he released a documentary called A Man Named Scott on Amazon Prime Video, which gave fans a look at his career from the release of his breakthrough single, “Day ‘N’ Nite,” to the present day. Earlier this month, he revealed that he has begun work on his memoir. Now, ahead of his upcoming 10th album, Entergalactic, Cudi revealed that he is learning how to skate again, and is taking lessons from a skating legend.

“Tony Hawk is gonna teach me to skate again,” Cudi said in a tweet. “Its gonna take awhile to find my footing but im f*ckin ready. Im documenting the whole thing. Come take the journey w me. First lesson today. Here we go b*tch.”

Though he did not reveal whether he’ll share the documented footage in the form of a full-length documentary or a series of videos, Cudi promises to keep his fans fed.

Cudi’s Entergalactic will arrive next Friday, and its accompanying Netflix special will be available to stream on the same day. In an interview with Rolling Stone, he shared his hopes for the project’s impact.

“I hope it just sprinkles a little love in their life. I hope it makes people feel really good,” Cudi said. “I hope people listen to it with their lover, or crushes or whoever and just vibe and connect with it and just go.”

There’s definitely no bad blood between Lil Nas X and skating pro Tony Hawk, in case you were concerned. The “Montero” rapper recently shared a few Instagram photos and a TikTok where the two are holding up Hawk’s Liquid Death Mountain Water board and taking turns riding it. “That’s how you skateboard,” Nas says at the end, with the joke clearly being that Hawk was the one doing the heavy lifting.

This comes a week after Lil Nas X called out the double-standards surrounding his infamous “Satan Shoes” compared to Hawk’s limited-edition “Liquid Death” skateboard, which is made with paint that contains Hawk’s actual blood. (As a reminder, the sneakers were also made with real human blood, and, in addition to a public outcry, the rapper actually ended up getting sued by Nike. Not so much with Hawk’s skateboard, however.)

Back in March, when Lil Nas X was at the peak of his Satan phase, he released his Satan Shoes, which enjoyed a controversial reception, partially because the sneakers were made with real human blood. The whole thing was so contentious, in fact, that the rapper actually ended up getting sued by Nike. Now, Tony Hawk is doing something similar: He’s selling limited edition skateboards (that are already sold out) that are made with paint that contains his own blood. This prompted Lil Nas X to draw a comparison between the two stunts and ask some questions.
