The 46-year-old singer publicly broke things off with her soccer player boyfriend, Gerard Piqué, over allegations that he was having an affair. Now that she’s living in Miami, Shakira is reportedly open to dating the Top Gun: Maverick star:

“Shakira needs a soft pillow to fall on, and that could be Tom,” says our source — adding that Cruise has the benefit of being, “a nice-looking guy, and he is talented.”

The source also cracked, “And she isn’t taller than him.”

The film was a smash hit, ending the year as the highest-grossing domestic film and the second-highest-grossing film worldwide. It also received six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture. It ended up taking home the award for Best Sound. However, its financial success may have been extra important as new reports emerge about how much Cruise earned for the film

Tom Cruise May Have Earned $200 Million For “Top Gun: Maverick”

As part of Deadline‘s recap of the most valuable films of 2022, the outlet analyzed their #2 pick, Top Gun: Maverick. The film made a profit of $391 million (net: $1.145 billion), balanced against a production cost of $753 million. Over a third of that production cost can be found in the actors’ pay. Deadline lists the “participation” cost at $280 million. While unsurprising given the names found in the cast, it’s just an insane amount to pay out. It is by far the highest cost of the film. In fact, it’s a full $100 million higher than the second highest cost, prints and ads.

Now just how much of that is Cruise’s payday? According to Deadline, “Cruise landed what sources call an old-fashioned movie star deal, one of the best in history. While some tell us it’s well north of $100M, others tell us it’s double that of his best payday on Mission: Impossible, which would get him to $200M.” If that high-end claim is true, that means that Cruise made almost as much money making the film as the film made in gross profit. Of course, a name like Tom Cruise doesn’t come cheap, but $100-200 million is an unbelievable amount of money. However, that is unconfirmed. If true, it would set a record for the highest payday of all time. But for now, that record is still held by Keanu Reeves. Reeves made $156 million he made across the second and third Matrix films.

Tom Cruise says that he wasn’t “close” to playing Iron Man amid rumors that he nearly landed the role over Robert Downey Jr. Cruise addressed the idea during a recent interview with Phase Zero, while also revealing whether he’d ever work with Marvel. Cruise previously admitted to being contacted to play Iron Man during an interview with IGN in 2005. Downey Jr. took on the iconic role in 2008 kicking off the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it today.

Tom Cruise has shared a video from the set of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning to promote Top Gun: Maverick. In the clip posted to Paramount Pictures’ YouTube page, he jumps out of a plane over South Africa.

“Hey everyone,” Cruise began. “Here we are over stunning South Africa, where we’re filming ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning’ parts one and two. And I didn’t want the year to end without thanking you all for coming out to the theaters and thank you for supporting ‘Top Gun: Maverick.’”

As for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, the film is due to hit theaters on July 14, 2023. In a previously released promo for the film, Cruise also hung off of an airplane. That video was released back in September.

Emily Blunt Clarifies Tom Cruise Story: “I Absolutely Adore Tom”

Emily Blunt has clarified her recent comments on working with Tom Cruise for the film, Edge of Tomorrow. She had recently recalled a time when her co-star told her to “stop being such a pussy” on set.

“It’s ludicrous that it’s being spun as something that offended me,” Emily said in a statement to E! News on Dec. 12. “It didn’t. I shared the story as lightheartedly as it was meant by Tom.”

Blunt added that the story is “literally and absurdly out of context.”

She further continued: “I absolutely adore Tom, he’s a dear friend and he was a total gem to me. It was said as a joke to make me laugh, which it did in a big way. And it’s still something we laugh about to this day.”

Blunt first recalled the incident during an appearance on the SmartLess podcast with hosts Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett. She explained that she had begun crying due to the pressure of filming in the “enormous” costumes.

“I was like, ‘Tom, I’m not sure how I’m going to get through this shoot,’ and just started to cry,” Emily continued. “I was like, ‘I’m feeling a bit panicky about the whole shoot,’ and he stared at me for a long time, not knowing what to do, and he goes, ‘Come on, stop being such a pussy, OK?’”

She also said that the comments made her laugh at the time.

Edge of Tomorrow premiered back in 2014. In addition to Crusie and Blunt, the film starred Bill Paxton and Brendan Gleeson.
