When Is Usher’s Super Bowl Halftime Show?

Usher’s wildly successful Usher: My Way The Las Vegas Residency is scheduled to end on December 2, but Usher does not plan on taking a break in 2024 — and he doesn’t even need to leave Las Vegas.

On Sunday, September 24, Usher, Roc Nation, and the NFL simultaneously confirmed that he will perform the Apple Music Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show at Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium on February 11, 2024. The game will broadcast on CBS.

Usher’s announcement cleverly recreated Usher’s “Confessions, Pt. II” video. One version had present-day Usher talking to the Usher in the “Confessions” video, reassuring him, “The song is gonna be fine. You get a girl pregnant; it’s gonna be a hit. […] Listen, we’re doing the Apple Music Halftime Show. The Super Bowl! In Las Vegas! I’m on set shooting the promo for it right now.”

There were several versions, each featuring Usher co-starring with someone different, including Kim Kardashian, Deion Sanders, Odell Beckham Jr., and Marshawn Lynch.

And what better time to announce an album?

Usher also confirmed that he will release Coming Home during his Super Bowl performance. He spoke with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe about both exciting developments, expressing how relieved he is to no longer have to keep the Super Bowl secret from his kids and explaining the meaning behind his new album’s title.

Usher Will Release New Album On Super Bowl Sunday

Usher has announced that his new album, Coming Home, will be released on February 11, 2024. The release date coincides with Super Bowl Sunday. Coming Home will be Usher’s ninth studio and his first since Hard II Love in 2016. In the last seven years, Usher’s only extended project was 2018’s A, a collaborative album with Zaytoven. Furthermore, he will be hoping that Coming Home will be a return to form for his work. Hard II Love was the first album of his since his debut to neither peak at #1 nor receive an RIAA certification.

However, there is some perfect timing on the part of Usher. Super Bowl Sunday has been chosen as the release date because Usher, earlier today, was announced as the headliner for the Halftime Show. The NFL announced the decision via a skit involving Usher and Kim Kardashian. It will be his first time headlining the prestigious event. However, he did make a supporting appearance for the Black Eyed Peas when they headlined the Super Bowl XLV show back in 2011.

Usher To Play Vegas Super Bowl After Ending Vegas Residency

It’s ironic that Super Bowl LVIII is being held in Vegas because that’s the exact place Usher plans to leave at the end of the year. Last month, it was reported that his “My Way” residency at the MGM Grand would be ending on December 2. He had been holding down the Vegas spot since July 2022. However, he will only be away for two months before he returns to play Allegiant Stadium on February 11. It’s the first time that Vegas will host the Super Bowl.

Of course, Usher’s residency was something of a meme this past summer. Multiple videos emerged of the crooner serenading numerous famous women who attended his shows. Perhaps the most notable reaction was Winnie Harlow literally jumping in her boyfriend’s lap to ward off the crooner. Elsewhere, one of his show was the setting for the whole drama surrounding Keke Palmer being slut-shamed by her boyfriend Darius Jackson due to her Usher concert fit.

Usher Announced As Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show Headliner

Usher has been named as the headline act for Super Bowl LVIII’s Halftime Show. The NFL announced the decision via a skit involving Usher and Kim Kardashian. It will be Usher’s first time headlining the prestigious event. However, he did make a supporting appearance for the Black Eyed Peas when they headlined the Super Bowl XLV show back in 2011. Last year’s Super Bowl halftime show was performed by Rihanna.

However, that news could be disappointing to some. Rumors had swirled that the Super Bowl show was going to be a 90s reunion special. These rumors claimed that the show would feature a trio of the decade’s biggest musical groups. However, sources have said that rumors about Destiny’s Child, The Backstreet Boys, and *NSYNC serving as triple headliners were just fan speculation. According to TMZ‘s source, the groups were not contacted about the idea and no conversations ever took place. The idea appears to have been sparked by the recent *NSYNC reunion at the VMAs, despite the group saying they have no plans for a tour, album, or residency.
