Check Out Launch Party Photos And A Trailer From Uproxx’s New Show, ‘Fresh Pair’

There is an old adage that the ‘”eyes are windows to the soul,” but in Uproxx’s new show, Fresh Pair, it’s a person’s sneakers that offer a true glimpse into who they are. Launching September 28 at 12pm PT/ 3pm ET, the show stars sneaker customizer to the stars Katty Customs and hip-hop super producer Just Blaze. Each week, the duo sits down with your favorite celebrities and presents them with iconic one-of-one sneakers inspired by their respective careers, lives, and journeys.

Throughout the debut season, Katty and Just will be joined by legends like Jadakiss, TI, The Game, El P, Jim Jones, Styles P, will.i.am and more for a set of in-depth interviews that go beyond sneakers and deep in their careers. But this isn’t your typical sneaker show. Each bespoke design — dreamed up by Just and Katty — serves as an exploration of what makes these legends truly great and inspires each guest to open up and share previously unknown anecdotes and stories.

Attendees at Monday’s Fresh Pair launch party at will.i.am’s FYI House in Hollywood got a taste of what to expect with a special screening of Will’s episode, which, in addition to a truly dope and futuristic pair of kicks that perfectly captures will.i.am’s aesthetic, included gems like how the Black Eyed Peas got their start, an explanation of Will’s early beat-making, and sage advice he received from Prince, as well as how the iconic chant from Usher’s “OMG” came to be.

Some of the celebrities in attendance included Cordae, Trinidad, apl.de.ap, Sauve, Rap Sh!t‘s Victoria Richards, multi-hyphenate talent Jarry Lee, Grammy award-nominated graphic designers Brian Roettinger and Julian Gross, streetwear icon Jeff Staple, and many more with celebrities and influencers rubbing shoulders and dancing to the sounds of Jurassic 5’s DJ Nu-Mark who kept things moving by spinning classic cuts all night long.

Sponsors for the event included Fresh Pair‘s NFT partner Wagmi Beach, key sponsors D’Ussé VSOP and Filthy, and Salt & Straw, Kettle One Botanical, Liquid Death, Heartbeat Hot Sauce, and Sabali Graphics. After you check out the trailer, be sure to dive into these photos from the premiere, shot by event co-sponsor TOSTI Photography’s David Tosti.

Nike Reveals the LeBron XX Sneaker Celebrating 20 Years of King James

Nike Reveals the LeBron XX Sneaker Celebrating 20 Years of King James

LeBron James is getting ready for Year 20 of his historic NBA Season. Lacing up for the fifth season with the Los Angeles Lakers, King James will debut the LeBron XX, a sneaker built for the next generation.

The LeBron XX is the lightest version of his iconic sneaker ever, featuring a low-top silhouette with a sleek, opulent aesthetic. The new sneakers also celebrate both LeBron’s 20th year at Nike and in the league.

The LeBron XX was created to fulfill the needs of the upcoming generation of players while also honoring James’ legendary legacy.

The forefoot and heel Zoom Air units, as well as the carbon fiber midfoot shank, are the shoe’s primary features. The forefoot has a top-loaded Air Zoom Turbo unit for underfoot cushioning, and the heel has a bigger Zoom Air unit that is 13 mm thick to help with impact protection. The lateral guardrail is synthetically wrapped to help keep the foot over the footbed secure. An all-around outsole design secures the ground. Make no mistake: The performance build of the LeBron XX has its sights set on the next 20 years, despite the legacy touches found throughout the shoe that pay homage to the past.

“We saw the XX as a chance to celebrate the next 20 years for LeBron,” says Jason Petrie, Senior Footwear Designer for Men’s Basketball and lead designer of the LeBron line since the Zoom LeBron VII. “The stitched tag inside the tongue says, ‘Designed and Engineered to the Exact Specifications of the Next Generation.’ We took that line seriously as we designed the shoe. We had players like LeBron’s sons Bronny and Bryce in mind. We wanted to get in their heads and learn about what young players were looking for.”

The Time Machine colorway of the LeBron XX releases in adult and kids sizing on September 29. Other colorways will be released throughout holiday 2022.

Reebok to Release ‘Shaq Attaq’ Sneaker to Celebrate 30th Anniversary of Shaq’s First Signature Shoe

Reebok to Release 'Shaq Attaq' Sneaker to Celebrate 30th Anniversary of Shaq's First Signature Shoe

Reebok has announced that Shaquille O’Neal’s coveted “Shaq Attaq” sneaker will make a comeback on September 23. This comes as Reebok continues to highlight its extensive basketball archive through the likes of Allen Iverson’s Question and Answer lines, the revolutionary Hurrikaze and Hurrikaze II, Dee Brown’s Pump Omni Zone II, and more.

Shaq’s first signature shoe was the “Shaq Attaq,” which former Reebok designer Judy Close produced for the outsized rookie sensation in 1992. The design showcased Reebok’s creative approach to performance footwear by combining new “Shaq” branding components with cutting-edge Reebok technologies like a custom-fit Pump bladder and carbon fiber footplate. The footwear, most importantly, gave Shaq the best-in-class stability and comfort on the court as he destroyed countless rims, backboards, and records.

Arriving in adult unisex sizing, “Shaq Attaq” is set for an official global launch on September 23 from Reebok.com/basketballSnipesThe Athlete’s Foot, and other select retailers. You can see the sneaker below.

Reebok to Release Question Mid “Blue Toe” from Allen Iverson’s Rookie Year

00A0098 V1A

Reebok has formally announced that their iconic Question Mid “Blue Toe,” a notable colorway of Allen Iverson’s first trademark basketball shoe that debuted during his outstanding ’96–97 rookie season, will make a comeback on August 19.

The first Reebok Question Mid would debut in 1996 at the center of a revolution in basketball footwear, but the company’s pitch to a young and ambitious Allen Iverson was about much more than just a pair of shoes – it was about their dedication to “A.I.”

“It was a dream come true,” recalled Iverson. “It was close to the same feeling of when you get drafted. Only a certain amount of people have their own signature shoe; that really means you’re special.”

Since then, the Question Mid has cemented its status as one of the most significant models in sneaker history, a symbol of Reebok’s basketball tradition, and a representative of sports culture’s most enduring legacy.

The Question Mid “Blue Toe” replaced its “OG” predecessor that year and gained notoriety on a March night in 1997 when Philadelphia’s rookie point guard Allen Iverson, sporting the shoe, famously “crossed up” one of basketball’s greatest players. The soles of a renowned sneaker serve as a reminder of that momentous occasion and Iverson’s reckless athleticism.

After 25 years, the Question Mid “Blue Toe” is back with a host of original design features like a tumbled leather upper, blue pearlized leather on the toe box, an ice rubber outsole, ghillie lacing, embroidered Vector logos, the iconic “Q” heel logo, and a specially made rookie Iverson sock liner that comes in OG-inspired Question packaging.

Reebok’s Inquiry Mid “Blue Toe” will be available at Reebok.com/US/Basketball, Foot Locker, Champs Sports, Hibbett, and other specialized shops starting on August 19 in full-family sizing. On August 18, Reebok UNLOCKED members will have one-day early access, and on August 12, a select number of pairs will be on sale in-person and online at Packer.

You can see the sneaker below.
