Drake Allegedly Offered Dame Dash $6 Million For His Roc-A-Fella Share But Backed Out

Dame Dash claims that Drake offered him $6 million to take ownership of his stake in Roc-A-Fella Records, which includes rights to JAY-Z’s iconic album, Reasonable Doubt. Despite the alleged offer, Dame says Drake eventually backed out on the deal, which he describes as revealing of JAY-Z’s true legacy. “I thought that more people would be interested in buying it because of the art value of it. And that’s the only thing I was selling,” Dame said on America Nu Network. “Because of how everyone portrays that they love this dude, if they really loved him like that, I thought some collector like the Wu-Tang thing. Wu-Tang is loved. People really value them a certain way… There was no love.”

“Drake put in a bid for $6 million, but then he disappeared,” he went on to reveal. “I don’t know what happened.” As Dame’s claim circulated on social media, fans shared their own explanations as to why the shares didn’t go for more. “Or maybe he told everybody back off so it could be sold for cheap so you would still be scrambling to pay off the immense debt you’re still in. Just a thought,” one user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote. Another added: “Nobody dropping 10m and only have the rights for 7 years.. album is trash anyways.”

It’s not the first time Dame Dash has mentioned Drake having an interest in his shares of Roc-A-Fella. Back in September, he referenced the offer while discussing the Toronto rapper’s feud with Kendrick Lamar on America Nu Network. “Drake hollered at me through a DM and made and offer. I’m not quite sure what happened. But I thought that he had got with Jay on something, but I don’t know,” he said at the time.

Dame Dash Claims Drake Offered $6 Million For His Roc-A-Fella Share

Dame’s latest comments come after the New York state government purchased the shares for $1 million at auction in an attempt to recover $8.7 million the co-founder allegedly owes in back taxes. Check out Dame Dash’s full comments about the sale of his Roc-A-Fella stake below.

The State Of New York Finally Takes Dame Dash’s Roc-A-Fella Shares Off His Hands

Dame Dash has been trying for a while to sell his one-third share of Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records, and it seems like he’s finally on the other side of that hurdle. Moreover, according to the New York Post, the state government of New York purchased it for $1 million at a federal auction in Manhattan on Thursday (November 14). This is so the state can mitigate the record executive’s back taxes debt of $8.7 million, and an anonymous Albany representative emerged with the winning bid with hopes to flip it into a cash heavy solution to these monetary problems. However, it’s unclear how or when the state of New York will flip this purchase through a sale.

For those unaware, the government of New York City previously criticized Jay-Z for how he handled these Dame Dash shares and their sale. “Jay-Z has issued widely publicized statements warning potential bidders that copyright ownership will revert back to him in 2031,” NYC attorney Gerald E. Singleton wrote in a letter. “Those statements are false and extremely damaging to the City’s interests in ensuring that the auction will generate sufficient funds to satisfy all existing child support arrearages and secure future child support payments. […] The auction should be conducted in a manner that will bring the highest price for the benefit of affected judgment creditors.”

Dame Dash’s Roc-A-Fella Shares Auctioned Off To The State Of New York

As for Dame Dash’s situation, he also wanted to sell his Roc-A-Fella shares to pay off a judgement against him stemming from a lawsuit involving film producer Josh Webber. Maybe this will start to close this chapter, but he still has a lot of other narratives to handle. For example, Dame is currently in a back-and-forth Internet beef with 50 Cent, and we all know how ruthless and relentless he can be with his trolling.

Nevertheless, it seems like this battle concerning Dame Dash’s one-third share in Roc-A-Fella just got its first big resolution, with a final flip still on the way. It was a long road, but perhaps one that will end in a relatively solid place for everyone involved. Of course, this could all become moot within a few days, weeks, months, or years, as many legal battles have long consequences.

Dame Dash Will Reportedly Have Roc-A-Fella Shares Auctioned Off After Sale Attempts

It looks like Dame Dash will finally fulfill his years-long mission to sell off his shares in Roc-A-Fella… but not on his own terms. Moreover, TMZ Hip Hop reports that the U.S. Marshall will publicly auction off his 33.3% interest in the company he co-founded with Jay-Z and Kareem “Biggs” Burke at an August 29 Manhattan event, according to supposed legal documents reportedly obtained by the publication. Apparently, hopefuls will have to email attorney Christopher Brown in order to register to appear at the auction. Brown represents Josh Webber, a film director who won an $800K-plus civil judgement against the music executive two years ago over copyright infringement and defamation.

Along with Muddy Waters Pictures, Webber produced the film Dear Frank and sued Dame Dash for allegedly falsely claiming to folks that he owned the rights to the film even after the project dropped him. According to TMZ, the court documents specify that this auction for the Roc-A-Fella shares is to cover this judgement, and that Hov’s Reasonable Doubt is the Roc’s biggest asset. The minimum bid for Dash’s shares must be at least $1.2 million at the auction. We’ll see who ends up with this historically contentious and now infamous stake.

Dame Dash’s Roc-A-Fella Shares Will Be Up For Auction

Furthermore, this comes after Dame Dash tried to sell his Roc-A-Fella shares, including Reasonable Doubt, on multiple occasions, none of which had proved successful. However, Lupe Fiasco had an interesting proposal regarding this, as he asked Drake to buy Dame’s shares.

@champagnepapi will keep it safe for generations to come,” the Chicago MC expressed on social meida. “This is grail and influenced an innumerable amount of rappers to see it peddle such a lack of grace genuinely hurts my feelings a little bit. But also on savages s**t f**k it…either donate it to a museums for safekeeping or seriously let Drake make an offer so he can put in where it needs to be. Or just keep the s**t OG you should be infinitely proud of this. Without it there is no me as I am and I’m sure other MC’s will agree.” We’ll se whether Aubrey Graham will hit up the Big Apple on August 29.

Dame Dash Has Two “Prominent” NYC Rappers Interested In His Roc-A-Fella Shares

Earlier today, attorney Christopher Brown shared a statement regarding the sale of Dame Dash’s Roc-A-Fella Records shares. He clarified that the music executive himself has no control over the sale, also telling those trying to purchase them directly through Dame that they’re “barking up the wrong tree.” The lawyer then revealed that there are currently various interested buyers, though he didn’t name names.

“Mr. Dash did not create this auction and is simply a judgment debtor along for the ride,” his statement reads. “I was recently informed that the Office of Child Support Services (New York City) has added a lien to the auction in the amount of $123,562.37 for unpaid child support and Mr. Dash has a judgment against him in the case of Bunn v. Dash, 20-07389 for $30,000.00 pending in California. This too will be added.”

Attorney Claims Dame Dash Has No Control Over The Sale

“Buyer Beware when it comes to Damon Dash. My office and the United States Marshal are in control of this process. With that being said, I am negotiating with various entities to sell the judgments that are the focal point of the auction. The parties seeking to purchase the judgments fully intend to complete the auction process,” he also adds. “My team/clients has heard from two prominent New York rappers, however, the present leading candidates to purchase the judgments are World One TV and another network, and both networks are willing to pay an amount in excess of the judgments, understanding the value of this once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Fans suspect that the rappers interested in Dame’s shares could be Cam’ron and Mase, as sources have claimed since February. What do you think of attorney Christopher Brown claiming that two prominent New York rappers are looking to buy Dame Dash’s Roc-A-Fella shares? Who do you think they could be? Jay-Z Protects Dame Dash From Having To Sell His Roc-A-Fella Shares

Despite all that Jay-Z and Dame Dash have allegedly went through in the fallout of Roc-A-Fella, it looks like there’s still enough there for them to defend each other. For those unaware, according to legal documents reportedly obtained by AllHipHop, the latter might have to give up his shares in the Roc to pay off a debt to film producer Josh Webber and Muddy Waters Pictures. They sued the music executive in 2022, and to collect their $832,000 judgement, they want to go after his stake in the record company. But Hov and the label’s third co-founder Kareem “Biggs” Burke stepped in to prevent these shares from selling out.

Before getting into that, it’s important to bring things back to 2016, when Dame Dash was fired as the director of Webber’s crime thriller flick, Dear Frank. He was allegedly unfit for the directorial role, being verbally abusive to staff and showing up to set high. The 52-year-old thought Webber tried “to take credit for a Black man’s work” and attempted to sell his original directorial vision of the film independently under another title, The List. Webber and Muddy Waters Pictures sued for copyright infringement and defamation, and received a 2022 judgement, but Dash still hasn’t complied with this order at press time.

Now, Jay-Z and Kareem “Biggs” Burke objected to this judgement’s collection, and argued that Roc-A-Fella’s bylaws call for the full board to approve of any significant sell-offs like this. U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Lehrburger criticized that this decision finalized at a 2021 board meeting in which Dame Dash was not present and didn’t vote for it. Regardless, the court ordered the Roc to make his stock certification available to the U.S. Marshal’s Service within 180 days.

“The question at the core of the instant dispute is whether the Roc-A-Fella By Laws’ prohibition on transfer and sale of Dash’s one-third ownership interest in shares of RAF without the consent of RAF’s board of directors legally prevents the sale of Dash’s interest in RAF to satisfy the Judgment,” Leherburger questioned. “The answer indisputably is no.” Hov and Burke still has equal opportunity to buy the shares, and Webber’s last attempt to collect the judgement was on Februrary 13. Dame Dash Will Have To Sell His Remaining Roc-A-Fella Records Shares To Pay Off Debt

In recent years, Dame Dash has made it a point to seemingly bring up the history of Roc-A-Fella record as often as possible. He appeared on numerous shows discussing notable moments in the labels history, sometimes drawing controversy for doing so. Numerous times he’s made claims that contradict previously understood stories and has even had some of the principle actors involved in his tales come out and correct him publicly. But now his last remaining monetary ties to Roc-A-Fella may be gone soon.

Dame has been fighting an unrelated copyright infringement case for a few years now. He reportedly tried to shop around a crime thriller without the partner who helped him write and conceptualize it. The resulting case ruled against Dame but he never paid up. Now in an attempt to get the money he owes from him, a judge is having Dame sell his remaining Roc-A-Fella records shares. The move wouldn’t just cost him quite a bit of money but also his vote in intellectual property matters relating to the Roc-A-Fella catalog. They’ve been ordered to turn over his shares within 180 days.

Dame Dash Forced To Sell Roc-A-Fella Shares

The news that Dame Dash may have to give up his Roc-A-Fella shares first broke in September of last year. At the time it was unclear just how likely the scenario was. The legal process for securing payment has been pretty slow going. The original judgement came down in 2023. But the payment could potentially be delayed even further if Roc-A-Fella can find a way to avoid selling the shares in the next 180 days.

Dame is also strapped with trying to pay child support. He recently asked for his payments to be lowered and even claimed he made just $5000 in 2022. What do you think of Dame Dash being forced to sell his Roc-A-Fella shares to pay off his debts? Do you think he will find a way around having to make the sale? Let us know in the comment section below.
