Anitta And Saweetie Are Tired Of ‘Faking Love’ On Their Confident New Single

Brazilian pop star Anitta‘s new single, “Faking Love,” is a brazen breakup anthem, so it’s fitting that she tapped the Bay Area’s own Icy Princess, Saweetie, to deliver a slick, dismissive verse to really drive the message home. After all, Saweetie’s become kind of an expert at that type of song thanks to her experience on similar anthems like “Back To The Streets.” She also shines quite a bit brighter when paired with another woman’s voice — just see “Best Friend,” “Slow Clap,” and “Seesaw” — so she’s a perfect fit on Anitta’s upbeat track.

Saweetie’s flow has improved quite a bit as well, as those performance boot camps she delayed her album for seem to be paying off. The verse also helps hold fans over as they await the holidays to find out more about her collaboration with another pop icon, Cher. Meanwhile, Anitta, who has had a relatively quiet year so far, is smart to tap another American star as she warms up the new music rollout machine. After calling on Cardi B to spice up her fan-favorite single “Me Gusta,” getting in touch with another of the top female hitmakers in the US keeps her trajectory pointed solidly toward the sky.

Saweetie Is Hosting ‘Sex: Unzipped,’ A Netflix Comedy Special Featuring Sex-Positive Puppets

Just when you thought Saweetie had one of her manicured hands in everything, it turns out she’s already found her next endeavor — and it might not be anything you would have expected. Vulture reports the Bay Area rapper/aspiring media mogul is set to host a new comedy special on Netflix titled Sex: Unzipped featuring sex experts, actors, stand-up mainstays, and “horny puppets.” From the description, it sounds a little bit like the Guy Code/Girl Code shows that used to air on MTV2 all the time, with higher-profile funny people and a few more actual experts (okay, fine — any).

The guests mentioned include Pose star Dominique Jackson, Late Late Show writer Ian Karmel, British comedian London Hughes, Always Be My Maybe scene-stealer Michelle Buteau, Netflix comedy regular Nikki Glaser, and HBO show host Sam Jay, among others. For more factual/researched information, the show’s recruited Alexander Cheves, Emily Morse, Oloni, and Stella Anna Sonnenbaum to round out its panel of experts. The show is set to stream on Netflix starting on October 26.

One release date we still have yet to receive from the ranch dressing enthusiast/McDonald’s collaborator is the one for her debut album, Pretty B*tch Music, which she pushed back in order to add some Cher-inspired oomph. However, she recently hinted that “things will unfold” around the holidays, so perhaps that release date is coming soon.

Saweetie, Crocs, And Hidden Valley Ranch Team Up For An Unlikely But Fitting Collaboration

Despite having a slew of inescapably catchy singles under her belt and an album on the way, Saweetie has become just as well-known for her brand partnerships and cast-iron gut over the past few years. So, it should come as no surprise that her latest endeavor combines both for an unlikely, yet fitting collaboration. The Bay Area rapper has teamed up with Crocs, which has increased its visibility thanks to collaborations with Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, and Post Malone, and Hidden Valley Ranch, which she’s been known to slather on her spaghetti, to promote a new pair of the slipper brand’s signature rubber clogs adorned in food-related Jibbitz charms.

The Hidden Valley Ranch x Crocs Clogs are off-white-colored and accented with green speckles, drawing a resemblance to the dressing. Each of the Jibbitz charms are based on the items that folks love to dip in their ranch like fries, chicken nuggets, and vegetables. There are nine charms in all, and all are included with the clogs, which will only be available for purchase online through a drawing system. Entry is open from today to Monday, September 20 at 12pm ET. You can also check out Saweetie’s Instagram Story for a link to enter the big-city exclusive sweepstakes to win the shoes and a free pizza (in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York).

Saweetie Promises Her Collaboration With Cher Will ‘Unfold During The Holidays’

The wait for Saweetie’s debut album may be drawing to a close soon. The burgeoning Bay Area rapper-mogul was at the Barclay Center in New York for the 2021 MTV VMAs, where she gave a red carpet interview hinting that her new music could be dropping over the holiday season. When she was asked about meeting Cher — an experience to which she attributes the most recent delay — she played coy but did offer up the potential timing for their collaboration’s release.

“Everything will unwind and unfold during the holidays,” she said, “So stay tuned.”

While waiting for the album to come out, Saweetie gave her fans no shortage of content and projects to consume. In August, she launched the second season of her Icy University web series, interviewing Chloe Bailey ahead of the sister act’s first solo release. Saweetie also collaborated with McDonald’s on her own meal, complete with “Saweetie N Sour” sauce. And though the album has been pushed back a few times — including so Saweetie could polish her performance skills — she did confirm earlier this summer that it’s finally finished, which means a solid release date could be coming soon.

Saweetie Shoots Down A Report Claiming She Reunited With Quavo: ‘Pinocchio Ass Article’

It has been a few months since Saweetie announced her breakup with Quavo, but that hasn’t stopped some fans of the couple from hoping for a reconciliation between the two rappers. However, that outcome seemly less than likely after Saweetie herself snuffed out a recent tabloid report that the two had begun spending time together again. Jack Harlow/Saweetie shippers, rejoice!

Earlier this week, Hollywood Life, a gossip blog, published the report that Saweetie and Quavo had reunited, quoting a “music insider” saying that they were “both in New York and have quietly been spending time together on the DL.” Aside from the fact that “quietly” and “on the DL” mean the same thing, there’s little else to the story in terms of reliable sourcing, but when has that ever stopped the Twitter speculation machine from running at max capacity?

Today, though, the ultimate primary source weighed in: Saweetie herself. Quoting the tweet linking to the article, she definitively shut down the report while directing attention back to her actual business, “Pinocchio ass article,” she scoffed. “Anyways back to this #saweetiemeal.”

It isn’t the first time Saweetie dismissed public perceptions of her private business. In a May interview, she similarly redirected the conversation to her business plans. “I want 900 million dollars,” she said. “I look at Rihanna. I look at Kylie. I look at all the girls who are working in the worlds that I’m in. I kind of averaged out the money between all these women I admire, and 900 million is the number. So if I’m having a bad day, I’m just like, ‘900 million, girl! Go!’” Her recent collaboration with McDonald’s may well get her one step closer; earlier this week she launched her merchandise collection with the fast-food giant and recently told fans her album is finished.

Saweetie Interviewed Chloe Bailey For The Second Season Of Her ‘Icy University’ Series

While the world waits for Saweetie to drop Pretty B*tch Music, she seems to be happy doing anything but. As part of her ongoing promo campaign, Saweetie has been hitting all her marks, collaborating with a massive brand like McDonalds, and dropping episodes of her tongue-in-cheek Icy University on Youtube.

Her latest episode of the series is extra special though, because it features none other than breakout star Chloe Bailey of Chloe x Halle fame. After Ungodly Hour turned heads in 2020, Chloe became a breakout star in her own right via some steamy Instagram videos, and is now preparing to release her first solo single, “Have Mercy.” She even dropped some behind-the-scenes promo photos for the new single today that stoked fans excitement even higher.

But in the meantime, Chloe showed up to chat with Saweetie about everything from her new music to self-love and body positivity. Could this connection potentially lead to a collaboration between the two? Perhaps! For now, check out the first episode of Icy University‘s second season up above, and keep an ear out for more new music from both of these women. 2021 isn’t over yet, and there’s still plenty of time for both these ladies to give fans what they want to hear.
