J Cole’s  “Might Delete Later” Sales Projection Forecasts Huge Debut

J. Cole’s new mixtape, Might Delete Later, is expected to debut on the charts as the biggest release of the week, with HitsDailyDouble reporting it will move between 140k and 160k copies in its first week of availability. The project features collaborations with Young Dro, Gucci Mane, Ari Lennox, Cam’ron, Central Cee, Bas, Daylyt, and Ab-Soul. It also concludes with a noteworthy diss track aimed at Kendrick Lamar.

Lamar previously dissed both J. Cole and Drake on Metro Boomin and Future’s album, We Don’t Trust You, for his verse on the song, “Like That.” Lamar took issue with being lumped in with Drake and J. Cole as hip-hop’s “Big 3” on the song, “First Person Shooter.” “Yeah get up with me, f*ck sneak dissing / ‘First Person Shooter,’ I hope they came with three switches,” he rapped. “Motherf*ck the big three, n***a, it’s just big me.”

On the closer to Might Delete Later, titled, “7 Minute Drill,” Cole raps, “Your first sh*t was classic, your last sh*t was tragic/ Your second sh*t put n****s to sleep, but they gassed it/ Your third sh*t was massive and that was your prime/ I was trailin’ right behind and I just now hit mine.” He also threatens to go even harder if Lamar doesn’t back down.

J Cole Headed For #1 Debut

Despite Cole’s response, Drake has still remained silent on the musical front. He’s seemingly referenced the beef in various Instagram captions, but that’s it for now. He wrapped up his It’s All A Blur – Big As The What? Tour, earlier this week, so perhaps an official response will arrive shortly. Be on the lookout for further updates on J. Cole on HotNewHipHop.

French Montana Accused Of Selling Fraudulent Vinyls To Boost Album Sales

Last week, French Montana released his new album Mac & Cheese 5. He was clearly hoping for the album to do big sales numbers as it got numerous different versions on streaming. The album was released with an acapella version, an instrumental version, a sped-up version, a slowed-down version, and a deluxe version that featured just one new track. All of the versions were also collected into one massive 126-song version of the project on streaming platforms. Montana himself had to defend the massive “Versions” album against criticism from fans.

Now, sales projections for the album are in and it initially seemed to pay off. The album is set to push 55k in first week sales, which Chart Data projects could land it as high as #3 on the Billboard 200. But surprisingly, most of that isn’t coming from the numerous versions of the album uploaded to streaming platforms. Only around 11k sales came from streaming while the rest were pure sales. 44k in pure sales is extremely impressive for a rap album and represents even more numbers than artists like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole have done in recent years. But some users online are starting to suspect that the sales of the album aren’t what they seem. Some have even gone as far as to accuse French Montana of straight up fraud.

French Montana Vinyl Orders Not Arriving

Last month, French Montana sold vinyl pre-orders of the new project on his website. The twist is that they were being sold for just $5, far less than most artists sell their vinyls, or even CDs for. But in the wake of his new sales numbers, fans aren’t receiving what they ordered. Twitter user @99Vinyl_ claims that their order was “delivered” to a random address multiple states away. They also claim to have proof of others with similar experiences.

Shortly after they made the claim while tagging French Montana publicly, he blocked the account. What do you think of the accusations that French Montana could be committing sales fraud? Do you think his new album is capable of pulling 44k in pure sales authentically? Let us know in the comment section below.

French Montana’s “Mac & Cheese 5” Set For Top 10 Debut

Last week, French Montana released his new album Mac & Cheese 5. The project sports an impressive feature list. It netted appearances from Kanye West, Rick Ross, Lil Baby, Lil Wayne, JID, Lil Durk, Meek Mill, and many more. The project followed his Coke Boys 6 mixtape with DJ Drama which dropped last year and his most recent studio album They Got Amnesia which dropped in 2021. Now the first week sales projections for the album are in. Fans are extra interested in how the project performs because Montana went to extreme lengths in an attempt to get the sales as high as possible.

In addition to the original version of his album, French Montana also dropped numerous other versions of Mac & Cheese 5. Digital streaming platforms got an acapella version, an instrumental version, a slowed-down version, and a sped-up version in addition to the regular album. There’s also a “Versions” edition of the album which brings all of the versions together. It presents an astounding 126-song tracklist featuring numerous different versions of the same songs in a row. The album also got a deluxe edition released on the exact same day as the original which added just one additional track. See what they did to his sales numbers below.

French Montana Hits The Billboard 200 Top 10

One of the reasons his sales numbers look so impressive is the 44k pure sales. That part doesn’t come from streaming but rather purchases of the album itself. But fans think they’ve figured out why it’s so high. Earlier this year, Montana surprised fans by selling pre-ordered vinyl copies of the album for just $5.

The stunt seems like it’s paid off as he generated more in pure sales for Mac & Cheese 5 than most rap albums, even by major artists have done in the past few years. What do you think of French Montana selling over 50k in his first week and potentially debuting as high as #3? Let us know in the comment section below.

“Don’t Try This At Home” Projected To Debut In Top 5

Don’t Try This At Home is the latest album from NBA YoungBoy. The 33-track album was released on April 21. It’s the artist’s second album after re-signing with Motown Records and follows January’s I Rest Has My Case. I Rest My Case peaked at #9 on the Billboard 200. Don’t Try This At Home is NBA YoungBoy’s sixth studio album. YoungBoy has previously had two #1 albums – Top and Sincerely, Kentrell.

While I Rest My Case was all YoungBoy, Don’t Try This At Home features a handful of collaborations. Numbering three in total, YoungBoy linked up with Mariah the Scientist for “Rear View”, Nicki Minaj for “WTF”, and Post Malone and the kid Laroi for “What You Say”. “WTF” peaked at #99 on the Billboard Hot 100 as a single. “Rear View” was also released as a single and may chart this week.

“Don’t Try This At Home” Projected At 60,000-65,000 Sales

According to Hits Daily Double, Don’t Try This At Home is projected to sell between 60,000 and 65,000 units in its first week. While fairly modest sales for an album of its size, the projection should be good enough for a top-5 chart debut. That would be a return to form for NBA YoungBoy. I Rest My Case is the only album in his catalog that did not break into the top five during its time in the charts. YoungBoy is a three-time platinum artist thanks to his first three albums. Despite this, he has not hit that status since Sincerely, Kentrell. The Last Slimeto went gold and I Rest My Case is currently uncertified.

However, another album released this week has absolutely dwarfed Don’t Try This At Home. D-Day, a solo rap album from Agust-D (also known as BTS‘ SUGA), absolutely smashed sales records upon release. It became the fastest-selling album in Korean history, moving nearly 1.1 million domestic copies on release day. Hits Double Daily projects that D-Day could move as many as 135,000 US copies in its first week. If those numbers are even vaguely accurate, Don’t Try This At Home might have to settle for silver at best. However, it appears to be a return to form for the 23-year-old.
