Andy Cohen says that Wendy Williams asked to join the cast of The Real Housewives of New York City back in May 2022. He explained why he decided to turn down the request during a section of his new memoir, The Daddy Diaries: The Year I Grew Up. Cohen says that appearing on the show wouldn’t have been good for Williams. She had been struggling with her mental health at the time.

“Had this call come a year earlier, it would’ve been a brilliant idea,” Cohen wrote. “If she is struggling with mental health issues, though, this isn’t the time. Her enthusiasm was infectious, though when I was explaining the idea of Legacy and the brand-new show, she just wanted to focus on the last version. So the conversation didn’t go anywhere.”
