Back in 2018, Kanye West stunned fans when he actually released five albums in a row, on time. Overall, these albums were all produced by him and were released every single week for five weeks straight. Firstly, we had Dayonta by Pusha T, and his own solo album Ye. The last two albums were from Nas and Teyana Taylor, although these projects were not received like the others. In the middle of all of this, he dropped a collaborative album with Kid Cudi called Kids See Ghosts.
Technically, Kids See Ghosts was also the name of their group. There were even rumors that these two were going to drop a second album together. However, their relationship has since been left fractured, thus making a second project a pipe dream. However, the seven-track effort was a huge hit. In fact, it is one of the few albums that Anthony Fantano has ever given a 10. Not to mention, fans just absolutely adore the soundscapes on this project.
Kanye West & Kid Cudi Are Kids See Ghosts
One song that really stands out on the song is “Reborn.” Overall, this is a song that speaks to the mental health issues that both Kanye West and Kid Cudi have gone through. The production on the track is simply beautiful, and these are some of Cudi’s best vocals to date. Not to mention, Ye delivers a spirited verse that could be considered one of his best of the post-Pablo era.
While it is unfortunate that we will never get another album from these two, at least we can still go back and listen to this. It was an amazing moment in time, and for many, going back to 2018 seems very ideal. Let us know what you think of this album, in the comments section below. Quotable Lyrics:
Very rarely do you catch me out
Y’all done especially invited guest’d, me out
Y’all been tellin’ jokes that’s gon’ stress me out
Soon as I walk in, I’m like “Let’s be out”
I was off the chain, I was often drained
I was off the meds, I was called insane
