J Balvin, Ozuna, And Wisin Y Yandel Are Headlining Sueños Festival’s All-Latinx Lineup In Chicago

Summertime in Chicago’s Grant Park is inextricably tied to Lollapalooza festival. Now, the organizers behind Lollapalooza, Rosarito’s surging Baja Beach Fest, and Chicago-based promoter Reventon, are producing a new reggaeton and Música Latina festival called Sueños, and the opening lineup is loaded.

The two-day festival takes place in Grant Park on Memorial Day Weekend from May 28th to 29th. The headliners for the first annual Sueños include reggaeton behemoths J Balvin, Ozuna, and Wisin y Yandel. The vision for the fest is to better represent Chicago’s Latinx community and Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot echoed that in a statement: “Chicago is home to one of the largest Mexican populations in the country–making events like Sueños Festival an important opportunity to highlight the culture and the cultural contributions of our Latino community as a whole.”

Baja Beach Fest’s Aaron Ampudia added that “Reggaetón is a massive genre but remains underserved by live festivals in the US. We’re extremely proud to expand to the US and serve our community and everyone who enjoys Latin music.”

Other acts on the bill include Jhay Cortez, Myke Towers, El Alfa, Sech, Natanael Cano, and a lot more.

Check out the festival poster with the full lineup below. Pre-sale registration is open now here and the pre-sale begins Friday, February 11th at 12 p.m. CT. General on-sale begins Friday at 2 p.m. CT, all at the same link.

DJ Snake Sounds The Alarm For ‘SG’ And Ozuna, Megan Thee Stallion, And Blackpink’s Lisa Heed The Call

This year alone, French mega-producer DJ Snake has already released the tracks “Selfish Love” with Selena Gomez and “Run It” with Rick Rosst and Rich Brian off of the Shang-Chi soundtrack. But the world is not enough for the man and his latest drop might be the most worldly yet.

On “SG”, DJ Snake united cross-cultural artists in, the Puerto Rican reggaeton superstar Ozuna, Houston native Megan Thee Stallion, and K-Pop queen Lisa of Blackpink (who’s actually originally from Thailand). Ozuna drives the track vocally with his benevolent life of the party delivery. Meg pops in to slay a verse, as forward as ever, punctuating with, “I gotta get the head before I let you get the tail,” and then Lisa — who just last month released her debut solo album Lalisa — rounds-up the all-star appearances.

The grandiose music video directed by Colin Tilley, who has worked with DJ Snake a number of times, as well as Justin Bieber, Halsey, J Balvin, Post Malone, etc. The visual features the typical Latin trap video trope set in Miami with a luxury yacht, palm trees, fancy pools, and of course, the club.

CJ Talks Smack In Spanish On His ‘Whoopty Latin Mix’ With Anuel AA And Ozuna

Just when you thought “Whoopty” mania had reached its peak, Staten Island rapper CJ comes out of nowhere with a surprising new remix to extend the shelf life of his breakout hit. This time around, he offers a “Latin Mix” of his runaway drill smash featuring two of Latin music’s hottest stars in Anuel AA and Ozuna.

Rather than write a new verse for this version, CJ talks a little smack in Spanish then steps back to let his guest stars hold the limelight. Both Anuel and Ozuna go on extended, rapid-fire, bruising lyrical runs, with Anuel name-dropping Kobe Bryant and claiming he’s a real son of a gun while Ozuna flexes his watch collection and delivers a fatalistic outlook on life. The video, meanwhile, takes place at an underground fight club, which apparently has both male and female divisions for its brutal, bare-knuckle brawls.

The Latin mix is the second remix of CJ’s popular hit after the New Yorker shared a Big Apple-centric remix earlier this month featuring French Montana and Rowdy Rebel. The infectious beat for “Whoopty” has also provided the backdrop for a wide-spanning array of colorful freestyles from the likes of Compton’s Westside Boogie, Chicago’s Polo G, and Philadelphia’s Tierra Whack.
