Palace x New Balance 991 Collab To Drop In Two Colorways

One of the best New Balance silhouettes on the market right now would have to be the New Balance 991. Overall, New Balance has been killing the game as of late. Although they were seen as an old man brand in the past, that stigma seems to have shaken off. Ultimately, people love what they are serving up. Chunky runners are in, and if you have ever looked at an NB shoe, you know they are made with great materials. Additionally, they have killed it with some of their recent collaborations.

Whenever you look for new sneakers online, you can probably find a New Balance collaboration that is on the way. In fact, it seems like something new is, indeed, on the horizon thanks to the New Balance 991 x Palace partnership. Palace Skateboards is an iconic brand out of Europe that continues to bring the heat. They have some truly incredible pieces, and their collaborations with New Balance are always amazing. That certainly rings true with this 991 collab, which can be seen in the images below.

Overall, New Balance and Palace have decided to make two new colorways for the New Balance 991. Firstly, the colorway above features an interesting combination of tones. From teal to purple to brown and even beige, this is going to be a head-turner. Secondly, the other colorway reminds us of something that would constitute as a Toronto Raptors colorway. From the purple to the red to the black and even the grey, this is a very cool color scheme.

Fans of this shoe will be able to grab pairs as of Friday, May 12th. The shoes can be found over at palaceskateboards.com, and they will also be available at brick-and-mortar stores. These may not be for everyone, however, there is certainly a market for shoes like this. Let us know what you think, down in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news from around the sneaker world. We will always keep you informed.

SOURCE SPORTS: Chicago Bulls Star Guard Zach Lavine Talks New Balance Partnership and the 2022-23 NBA Season

DSC01947 Edit 2

Zach Lavine understands what his presence means on and off the court to the city of Chicago. When he runs the hardwood of the United Center, he is a relentless scorer and one of the leaders of the franchise. Off the court, that leadership pours into the community.

On a Monday night before the Bulls work to make a final push for the playoffs, Lavine is at the Foot Locker flagship store in Chicago, which has a full gym on top of the State Street location. He, and other influential local basketball minds, assists in guiding Chicago basketball players of the future through drills as they give his TWO WXY V3 New Balance sneaker a test run.

At the conclusion, Lavine speaks with The Source about his New Balance partnership and the work he gives the city of Chicago.

Visual Portfolio, Posts & Image Gallery for WordPress

We are in year two of your New Balance partnership. What has happened in that time to confirm you made the right decision in choosing this brand?

Everything, man. New Balance is a big family, and it gives you a lot of creative power to let your voice be heard. I think the biggest thing for me is that family feel, they listen, and it makes you feel important.

You got high school kids out here. I know how this likely important for an All-Star to be here with them. But what does it feel like for you to have your sneaker collaboration merge with impacting the lives of future ball players?

It’s great. Obviously you want to get all the eyes you can on your individual sport and that comes with brand deals and New Balance has been nothing short of great. But having that tie-in, I’m always big on speaking to the youth and trying to push the game forward because that’s what was done for me. Any way they can take experiences from me or I can answer a question, I’m all for it.

DSC01655

I’m sure New Balance is a home for you aligned with your style. We catch you in the pre-game style of high-end joggers, sweats, and some of everything. What do you seek out in pieces, and what other styles do you dabble in?

It definitely depends on the occasion. If I’m pairing with New Balances, I’m going streetwear, like you said, joggers and sweats, an overcoat. We do live in Chicago, so you have to dress for the occasion. But fashion is a big part for me and New Balance is extremely cultural right now. You can dress them up, or down, they have everything.

Mentioning that cultural takeover. We see it heavy here with people like you, JoeFreshGoods, New Balance is becoming a Chicago family. Do you feel that resonating through the city when you are moving around or out?

It’s been great. Just walking and driving around, you see people with New Balance sneakers on. You see JoeFresh clothes everywhere. With us being here and with New Balance, you see that it’s a heavy presence in the city.

Visual Portfolio, Posts & Image Gallery for WordPress

When you get to your PEs, what do you hope to put in a sneaker?

That goes back to the open conversation, allowing me to have my own logo, different sayings, and different colorways. I can do things that are for the city, things specifically for me. I can bring childhood memories and college experiences with me. I can bring personal pieces into the brand.

What’s in your sneaker rotation right now?

The 750s are great, 550s are good too. I normally wear 750s with baggier jeans. They have so many options. The 990s are nice. I love classic options. I think the 2002s are some of my favorites cause you can wear so many things with them.

When we get to the playoffs, are you bringing a new pair?

I’m definitely going to have some new sneakers for y’all.

A couple of quick things on the basketball end. We are in the stretch run, and this season has been slightly different. The Bulls started on top, where this one has to show resilience. What have you learned about yourself in comparison to other Bulls seasons?

Not every year is going to be the same and try to do the best you can with it. You can’t dwell in the past. The way we’re playing and letting some slip away, you have to make what you can of the moment now.

For fans, we see what’s on the court and how it appeared to be an energy shift with the arrival of Patrick Beverley, and you guys appear ot be having fun. What are some things that we don’t get to see that resonate in your spirit about this unit right now?

We have a fun amount of confidence. We give each other confidence. We have an amazing group of young guys; sometimes, we need their energy and youthfulness. On the other hand, we also have the experience of vets and the confidence they give you. We have a good balance.

The Salomon XT-6 was one of the top sneakers of last year due to its versatile utilitarian functionality and sleek shape. Its bungee-cord lacing system and range of bright and vibrant colorways add to its appeal.

In March of 2022, Authentic Brands Group acquired Reebok from Adidas, and since then, Reebok has started to make a name for itself within the streetwear fashion world.

Collaborative drops from Nicole McLaughlin, Tyrell Winston, JJJJound, and Maison Margiela helped revitalize the brand.

As silhouettes like the Club C and Workout Plus become more popular within current trends, we can expect Reebok to revive other older silhouettes in their catalog. Keep an eye out for these on StockX.

Air Jordan 3

Pre-aged sneakers are nothing new, but Jordan Brand’s take on the trend is something special. In 2022 and 2021, people were DIY-ing their sneakers to give them a vintage look. Jordan Brand is following suit, bringing new life to some of its older and more notable colorways.

The Air Jordan 3 White Cement, which hasn’t had a true OG retro treatment since 2013’s AJ3 White Cement ’88, adds to the ongoing trend for the Jordan Brand with its yellowed accents on the heel and midsole of the sneaker. This sneaker is surely one of the top brands in 2023 on StockX.

With full Nike Air treatment on the heel tab and smooth tumbled leather uppers, it’s a reimagining of the classic sneaker and something to look forward to in the coming months.

Why Is The New Balance 550 So Popular?

If you’re a casual sneakerhead, nobody would fault you for not having the New Balance 550 on your radar. The vintage basketball shoe is one that has become obscure over time. However, once forgotten hidden gem is looking to claim the fame it has missed out on for decades!

When you think about which sneakers are amongst the most respected in the sneakerhead community, there are a few brands that have solidified their spots in the game. A few obvious answers would be Nike, Adidas, and Jordan. Of course, you also have your designer sneakers that have made waves during their moments of viral trendiness. But another brand is showing a growth in popularity.

New Balance is known more for being worn by BBQ grill masters and lawn cutting connoisseurs to this generation according to memes. A rise in popularity in the 550 shows that brand is being shown more love in the community. With the vintage looks of 80’s basketball era sneakers being fashionable right now, the retro look of the basketball shoes definitely falls in line with today’s fashion trends. Unfortunately, the sneaker didn’t garner much attention compared to its more popular competitors, eventually being lost to time. That is until recent years, with the low top sneaker seeing a huge spike in popularity over 30 years after it’s original release! Let’s take a look at why the New Balance 550 gets so much love today!

History

Like many popular kicks that were designed with basketball players in mind, the New Balance 550 were first dropped in the late 1980’s with hoopers in mind. They were originally released in 1989 under the model name “P550 Basketball Oxford”. They were made by the legendary basketball shoe designer, Steve Smith. The 550 was created with the hardwood being the main focus instead of simply fashion.

Smith designed for multiple major sneaker brands such as Adidas. He was recently appointed as Head of Industrial Design at Donda by Kanye West himself. He originally designed the 550 as a low top alternative to the New Balance 650. The sneakers originally sold for $45, making them a more budget friendly option for basketball enthusiasts. Despite the design and low price, the 550 failed to garner the same amount of fanfare as other popular sneakers from that year, including the Jordan 4, Reebok Pump, Nike Air, and others.

Since consumers gravitated towards the technological innovations of its competitors, the 550 eventually faded into obscurity despite being a solid design for the time. Being overlooked in the sneaker market seemed to be the fate of New Balance’s 500, that is until 2020. So what suddenly brought the 550 from an overlooked classic, to one of the most sought after kicks lately?

Creative Collaborations

In 2020, New York men’s fashion designer, Teddy Santis, decided to join forces with Joe Grondon. Joe Gordon is the senior manager of global collaborations at New Balance.

This set in motion the collaboration between Santis’ Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance. This brought the New Balance 550 back to life. In 2020, Aimé Leon Dore released four colorways of the 550, along with the tagline “International Friendship Through Basketball.” The sneakers were unvieled on September 21st, 2020. This was with the help of Team SONNY. Team SONNY is a 15u AAU basketball team led by coach Kenny Satterfield.

After the success of the first release, the second collaboration including new colorways debuted in 2021. This was after Teddy Santis was named creative director for New Balance USA. They were seen on the feet of famous artists and influencers such as Kendall Jenner, Rhianna, Justin Bieber, and Bella Hadid. This made them hard to get exclusives, which were on the radar of sneakerheads watching as well.

Apart from the Aimé Leon Dore collabs, the 550’s vintage aesthetic was also utilized by the likes of Rich Paul and Japanese designer, AURALEE.

Big Name Sponsors

Having a signature line of sneakers attached to a name is a huge deal for both the brand and the athlete. It’s competitors had signature lines with major athletes at the time. Meanwhile, the New Balance 550 suffered from not having any celebrity endorsements at the time of its release. With its reemergence in popularity coming in recent years, New Balance is deciding to attach this popularity to the famous members of the New Balance family!

Kawhi Leonard was spotted working out in his own Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance Jersey. Jack Harlow designed his own pair of the 550. The “Come Home, The Kids Miss You” custom 550’s are named after his second album. 2022 is the year the retro sneaker got love from celebrities, as well as sneakerheads. The once-forgotten kick back is now on the market once again.

A once underappreciated and forgotten gem, the New Balance 550 is a blast from the past with potential for creative flare. With the help of creative collaborations, old school aesthetics, and influencer approval, the 550 is due for a strong comeback!

Miu Miu x New Balance 574 Gets New Round Of Colorways

Miu Miu X New Balance previously dropped a line of 574s as part of their Spring/Summer 2022 collection. The shoes debuted at Paris Fashion Week. Miu Miu and New Balance are releasing a new line of the iconic 80s sneaker silhouette. The shoe from the first collab was re-purposed with raw-cute edges. The design was similar to the garments showcased in the Spring/Summer 2022 collection such as the iconic micro-mini skirt.

For this collaboration, the Miu Miu X New Balance 574 shoes are crafted in a signature Y2K-inspired “Fringed Blue” design simulating the hue of classic blue jeans with contrasting white laces. Other color offerings of the sneaker include a distressed “Marble-Effect Cognac Denim.” The colorway is a deep brown hue that is dripped throughout the shoe and laces. “Blanched White” leather has a muted pearly white hue. Elsewhere, the tongue of the sneaker is adorned with the New Balance x Miu Miu logo. The logo was also displayed in their first sneaker collaboration.

Latest New Balance x Miu Miu Drop

Moreover, the shoe can be seen as both a fashion and athletic statement. The distressed materials on the shoe allow room for experimental styling, which the luxury label and Boston-based shoe brand are no strangers to. You can pair the shoe with a complimentary New Balance tracksuit or go the girly route with a classic mini skirt, high socks, and a Miu Miu bag. These sneakers will suit any look. Although they were not featured in the Spring/Summer 2023 showcase, this new collab fits into the Miu Miu label’s elevated streetwear meets business-casual aesthetic.

Additionally, these sneakers (although high in price) are sure to sell out just as fast as the first drop. The “Fringed Blue” and “Cognac Denim” colorways retail for $950, while the “Blanched White Leather” retails for $1,020. The sneaker comes equipped with white rubber soles infused with ENCA. ENCA is a core of soft cushion made for comfort and functionality. Additionally, the interior of the shoe features dual-branded insoles. The new lineup of New Balance x Miu Miu sneakers is available in-store at Miu Miu locations worldwide, and online at Miu Miu’s website until the end of February.

Druski Reveals How Jack Harlow Gets Him Shoes

In just a few weeks, Druski will embark on his nationwide comedy tour. The “Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda Tour” will begin on March 2 and end on July 15. Including 34 dates in 23 different states and the District of Columbia, this will be his first stand-up comedy tour. But before then, he paid a visit to Complex’s Sneaker Shopping YouTube show. This is the second time he’s been on the show, with his first taking place in October 2020. This time, he and host Joe La Puma hit a sneaker store in Atlanta.

For the first episode of their 17th season of Sneaker Shopping, Complex and Joe had some juicy questions for Druski. First, the two discussed how Druski used to always wear the black and red “Playoffs Bred” Jordan 11 shoes. Druski explained how he always rocked them because they were a gift and he “was broke.” Later on, Druski explained that he can’t wear shoes like Jordan 3s or Adidas Stan Smiths because they aren’t “fat n***a shoes” with support on the side.

Druski & Jack

The most riveting portion of the interview, though, came when La Puma asked Druski about his friendship with Jack Harlow. Druski, who was wearing an orange pair of New Balance 2002R “Refined Future” shoes, said Harlow is his NB supplier. Harlow, who has a shoe deal with New Balance, helps Druski get discounted pairs of sneakers. “He’s definitely something for New Balance, they’re giving him that check,” he said. “He always sends that shipment. I don’t gotta pay too much for New Balance. It’s a good plug to have for sure.”

At the end of the episode, Druski arrived at the counter to buy himself and his three friends a few pairs. After racking up a staggering bill though, he decided to remove his friends’ kicks and only buy shoes for himself and his mother. Decreasing the total from $10,312.83 to $2,395.80, he ended up taking home purple Jordan 4 Retros, Yeezy Boost 700s, Nike x Off-White Dunk Lows, another pair of Nike Dunk Lows, blue New Balances and a Hellstar T-shirt. Check out the entire “Druski Goes Sneaker Shopping With Complex” above.

Sports Super Agent Rich Paul Announces Klutch Athletics in Partnership with New Balance

FY23 S1S2 NB KLUTCH ATHLETICS PRE GAME HOODED TANK

Klutch Athletics, a new Black-owned sportswear company co-authored with New Balance, was just introduced by Rich Paul. The brand will support and assist all athletes through all phases of their athletic careers, including youth, collegiate, and professional sports. No matter their gender or sport, all athletes will receive high-quality training wear as part of Klutch Athletics’ debut line.

“I’m thrilled to create Klutch Athletics to focus on supporting athletes and the communities in which they live and play,” Paul said. “There’s a gap right now that we can fill – creating training product that is functional, but with style. We’ve seen other brands moving away from youth sports and training, so we’re focused on bringing the new look of training for the next generation. And there’s no one better than New Balance to build this with. I have a long history with them, I know we share similar values, and everything they are doing right now from product to athletes to collaborations is leading culture.”

“Together, with Rich Paul and Klutch Athletics, our shared goal is to create a unique product collection and storytelling vision that celebrates the intersection of youth sport and culture,” said New Balance Chief Marketing Officer and SVP of Merchandising Chris Davis. “Rich has deep cultural roots in the world of sport and together we will realize a vision that has yet to be seen by the modern-day athlete. We always strive to take a differentiated approach – this partnership truly exemplifies our independent mindset as a brand.”

The first items in the Klutch Athletics clothing collection will meet the demand for fashionable, functional training attire for men, women, and children. The colors will be drawn from the recognizable greys of New Balance, which fade from the deepest to the lightest gray in the palette and create a fascinating visual story. A hint of green will be added to the greys to reflect the spot on the field of play where young athletes first fell in love with the game.

“Connecting community, athletes and culture is at the heart of this partnership,” said New Balance SVP of Global Apparel Julie Pike. “With this in mind, we created intentional pieces that blend performance and style to deliver training apparel for the next generation of athletes. Our hope is these intentional pieces become the most loved items in the athletes’ wardrobe.”

The garment collection was created with Klutch Athletics Chief Design Officer David Creech and the world-class design team at New Balance.

“We designed the line to help athletes perform their best and look good while doing it,” Creech said. “It will deliver products for all athletes, regardless of sport or gender. We understand what athletes want – product that helps them perform while reflecting the love they have for sport and their community. Every design element of Klutch Athletics apparel has a story, from the branding to the color palette to the product details – everything has a purpose.”

Starting on April 27, customers may buy the first clothing collection from Klutch Athletics online and at a few chosen retailers. For t-shirts, suggested retail prices range from $40 to $120.

You can preview the pieces below.
