Stephen A. Smith has caused a stir after using a segment on First Take to pitch a deadline trade between his Knicks and the Lakers to acquire LeBron James. Smith’s pitch is more based on the vibes of “LeBron at MSG” rather than how LeBron would actually make the Knicks a better team. You can watch Smith’s full, and very loud, pitch below.

However, fans are absolutely not in agreement with the ESPN host. “Who’s gonna tell him that move by itself would almost singlehandedly destroy everything the Knicks have built Last thing I want on the Knicks is a 39 year-old player GM who is clearly holding his own team back in noticeable ways,” one fan noted. “WE DONT WANT LEBRON. NOT TRADING ASSETS FOR A 39 YEAR OLD PLAYER WHO WILL DIP IN THE SUMMER TO PLAY WITH BRONNY. He’s not as good as Randle in the year 2024. Where are the Lakes this season and where are the Knicks? I’m soooo good on this. He had his chance in 2010,” concurred another.

Smith’s pitch comes as LeBron’s frustration with the Lakers becomes more and more apparent. Earlier this week, LeBron James posted a cryptic message to social media amid a period of vocal frustration with the Lakers. LeBron posted a tweet with a single hourglass emoji shortly after the Lakers lost on the road to Atlanta. Could this mean that “time is running out” for LeBron’s tenure in LA? After all, LeBron’s contract with the team, which runs through the end of next season, was signed on the notion of the Lakers being a championship contender.

Furthermore, as mentioned, LeBron has been open about his frustrations with the team over the past few weeks. “We could on any given night beat any team in the NBA. And then on any given night we could get our ass kicked,” LeBron said after the Lakers fell to the Hawks and dropped to 24-25 on the season. The Lakers have plummeted in the standings after winning the inaugural In-Season Tournament in mid-December. They have won just 11 games since that December 9 win over Indiana.

Julius Randle To Miss 2-3 Weeks, But Knicks Fans Aren’t Worried

Julius Randle will miss two to three weeks with a right shoulder injury. Randle went down with the dislocation during a game against the Heat last weekend. The veteran is averaging 24.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 5 assists this season. He stands a chance to be named to the third All-Star game of his career when reserves for the Indiana-hosted game are named later today.

However, fans aren’t too worried about the injury. “Yes… if Brunson were to go down, they’d be in big trouble though,” one fan said in response to a social media post asking if the Knicks “can still roll”. “It’s not randles team. It’s been brunson’s team,” concurred another fan. Jalen Brunson is currently the team’s leading scorer and assists provider, averaging 26.8 points and 6.5 assists per game.

Meanwhile, Knicks fans are still rejoicing over one of Jalen Brunson’s biggest games this season. With Coi Leray pretty in pink courtside, Jalen Brunson balled out against the Wizards on January 18. Brunson dropped a 41/8/8 stat line in the 113-108 win. It was Brunson’s fourth 40-point game of the season and his first since dropping a career-high 50 points against the Suns in December. However, fans were quick to joke that it was Leray’s presence that spurred Brunson’s big performance. Prior to the game against Washington, Brunson was averaging 25.9 points per game through the first seven games of January. Perhaps it was the presence of Leray that, as one X user put it, turned Brunson into “2001 Allen Iverson”. However, on the other hand, he was playing against the Wizards.

Despite the big performance, Brunson did not receive much help from his teammates. Randle was the only other Knick to break 20 points while the bench combined for just seven points. Jordan Poole led the Wizards with 24 points. Meanwhile, Leray’s close friend Kyle Kuzma had 15. At the time of writing, the Knicks are 31-17 on the season and currently occupy third place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Most recently, they hit up the Miami Heat and New York Knicks’ showdown at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Both teams are doing pretty well in the Eastern Conference, and fans might recall their playoff showdown last year, which the Heat emerged victorious from. Furthermore, many fans might predict the same outcome this season, although there’s so much parity in the league that these predictions are no less exciting to see succeed or fail.

Back to our For All The Dogs superstars, though, it seems like Drake thinks that his son could be a star player on the court one day. Moreover, he recently took some Instagram with some pics of Adonis playing basketball, which he captioned with “Leaving these here until the 2036 draft.” Overall, it’s wholesome to see a father motivate his child in this way, especially when Drizzy could easily be doing this for a musical career instead. Well, Adonis does have that verse on “Daylight” from his pops’ aforementioned 2023 album (which he drew the cover for, apparently), so perhaps the Grahams are just covering as many bases as possible.

Joel Embiid MVP Repeat In Danger Due To NBA Rest Rule

Meanwhile, there are concerns about how the new NBA rest rule could affect the MVP race. Joel Embiid can miss no more than seven of the Sixers’ remaining 43 games in order to be eligible for MVP this season. Due to a spate of injuries, Embiid has played 29 of the Sixers’ 39 games this season. However, due to load management rules implemented in the offseason, Embiid needs to play in 65 games to be eligible for all major awards. This means that Embiid must play in at least 36 of the team’s remaining games to be eligible for the award he is currently the frontrunner for.

“The goal is to be ready for the playoffs. If I can’t meet the criteria of 65 games … as long as I’m ready to be dominant in that time in April, that’s all I care about,” Embii told reporters following the Sixers win over Houston on January 15. The 65-game rule was implemented as the NBA looked to curb the amount of big-game talent missing games due to “load management”. As part of continued efforts to tackle load management, the league recently released a report indicating that the practice did not actually lower the likelihood of long-term injuries.

Stephen A. Smith Claims To Be A Bigger Star “Than Most Of The New York Knicks”

Smith vented his frustrations about his beloved Knicks on NBA Countdown, claiming that he was a bigger star than most of the team’s current roster. “This is the Mecca, this is Madison Square Garden, this is New York City, baby. They can’t get a star. They cannot get a star. You had a chance! You had a chance and you passed up. Woj is excellent information, all the inside info, he will break it down to a science and make you say, ‘Yeah, it makes sense.’ But it doesn’t change the reality: It’s the Mecca, and the stars come to visit. We never have any. Do you realize a legitimate argument could be made that Stephen A. Smith is one of the biggest stars in New York? Do you realize that? That’s a damn shame. Bad knees, 56 years old, ain’t thought about playing basketball in about 30 years, and I am a bigger star than most of the New York Knicks. It’s a damn shame,” Smith ranted.

Smith’s comments, and his allusions to ESPN colleague Adrian Wojnarowski, come after the Knicks swung a blockbuster trade for O.G. Annouby. A move they have been pursuing since the summer, the Knicks sent Immanuel Quickley and R.J. Barrett to Toronto. Annouby is averaging 15 points this season and serves as a solid starting small forward in New York. However, he’s not the “star power” that championship-hungry fans like Smith are looking for. It’s also a move that Smith has been less than enthusiastic about.

Smith hs been very vocal bout the Knicks all season. This included answering a question on his podcast as to whether he would abstain from sex for a year if it guaranteed the Knicks a ring. The short answer is no. However, Smith delivered the November 2023 answer in a way that only he could. There was so much pained straining and an emotional speech about the Knicks haven’t won a championship since Smith was five. However, despite this 51-year drought, Smith still wouldn’t give up sex to secure another one. What made the situation even more hilarious was that the question had been posed by the prominent sports parody Twitter account, Ballcrack Sports.

Earlier in the year, Smith had said he was happy to be single. “I’m 55 years old. I’ve never been married and I’m happy about it. Now, one could easily surmise that a past rife with some degree of promiscuity might, dare I say, contribute to my desire to be single. But that’s not the reason. I am not upset about being single. Jeezy, how he filed for divorce from his wife, Jeannie Mai, after only two years, former friends are saying she’s after his money. Ever since the New York Knicks stole Jalen Brunson from the Dallas Mavericks about a year and a half ago, the franchise is finally seeing success again. Last season they dismissed the upstart Cleveland Cavaliers in five games. Then, they lost to the Miami Heat in a physical second-round playoff series in six. The Knicks look to be heading back toward another solid season. Currently, Tom Thibodeau’s squad sits in sixth place in the ultra-competitive Eastern Conference.

They are only a game out of fourth, so it is anyone’s game right now. Brunson, RJ Barrett, and Julius Randle led them closer to that goal after picking up an impressive win against the Milwaukee Bucks. The Knicks leading scorers were the aforementioned players. Brunson poured in 38, besting Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 32 for the 129-122 victory.

Travis Scott’s Drink Explodes After Being Hit By Loose Ball At Knicks-Nets: Watch

For the second time this week, things are hitting Travis Scott. While courtside at Knicks-Nets, a loose ball collided with Scott, causing his seltzer to go everywhere. As stadium workers rushed up to clean up the spillage, play-by-play announcer Ian Eagle called Scott’s drink explosion a “geyser”. However, Scott took the whole thing in stride and calmly cracked open a new can while bemusedly watching the replay on the jumbotron.

However, as mentioned, it’s the second time this week something like this has happened. Scott was hit in the back of the head by one of his stage props while performing at a concert this week. Luckily, he was able to regain his balance and simply move to another part of the stage, as opposed to being knocked off the stage entirely. Hopefully, Scott can get through Christmas without any more disasters.

Meanwhile, a pair of custom Cactus Jack Air Jordans that Scott gave to a fan at Rolling Loud Germany has been put up for auction. Scott gifted the Egyptian fan the shoes after bringing the man up on stage. It was one of several impromptu clothing giveaways Scott did in his pre-Utopia festival circuit. The shoes are being sold through Goldin’s and are expected to go for around $10,000. “In an iconic moment in pop culture history, we’re excited to see these sneakers hit the auction block. As a sneakerhead myself, it’s great to offer a rare opportunity for other collectors to own a custom pair of Air Jordans” auction owner Ken Goldin told TMZ.

As mentioned, it wasn’t the first time that Scott gave away his shoes over the summer. Earlier in July, at Longitude Festival in Dublin, Scott got up close and personal with the throbbing mass of fans at the barricade. Picking out one fan in particular, Scott began to rap back and forth with the fan, who eagerly responded. The back-and-forth continued, with Scott getting more and more hyped up about the interaction. When the verse ended, Scott pulled off his shirt, an unreleased Utopia merch item, as well as his Air Jordans. Fighting back the sea of grabbing hands, Scott handed the items to the fan he had rapped with.

50 Cent & Fat Joe’s Beef Caused Issues Within The Knicks, Tim Thomas Recalls

Tim Thomas says that his support for G-Unit caused a rift between himself and his fellow Knicks teammate Stephon Marbury during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Speaking on the WKND WRK podcast, he explained Marbury was a big Fat Joe fan during his beef with 50 Cent.

“Me and Steph grew up together, we went to Five Star Basketball camp. I knew his brothers, his mom, his pops. We actually played for Fat Joe with Terror Squad at the Rucker,” he explained. “It was really no issues between us at all until 50 and Fat Joe got into it. That’s when me and Steph kinda separated. We was actually teammates at this particular time. It was a lot of different things that transpired between those three years of them beefing. I remember Fat Joe being courtside and Steph showing him love. And I’m looking at them like, ‘Damn, I can’t go over there and say what’s up to him?’”

50 Cent and Fat Joe’s beef grew year after year in the early 2000s and culminated in their two crews nearly getting in a brawl at the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards.
