People Had A Lot Of Reactions To James Corden And Others Stopping Los Angeles Traffic For A ‘Cinderella’ Stunt

James Corden is an oddly controversial public figure: an entertainer who seeks only to bring joy to the world. But sometimes he goes too far. (Then again, sometimes he gets texts from Tom Cruise about landing a helicopter in his yard.) An example of this happened recently, when he and three cast members from the forthcoming musical movie take on Cinderella — in which he plays one of the mice turned into a footman — ran into a Los Angeles street, all for a flash mob stunt meant to advertise the film. But for some, the move did the opposite of delight.

Footage disseminated on social media Saturday showing Corden, star Camila Cabello, Billy Porter, and Idina Menzel dancing and singing in traffic to Jennifer Lopez’s “Let’s Get Loud,” in costumes as their characters. (Porter plays the gender-neutral fairy godparent while Menzel is the evils stepmother). And what better way to make the throngs aware of this than to stop traffic in one of the most car-clogged cities on earth?

Indeed, rather than charmed, some people on social media found themselves livid. They pointed out that Corden and company probably made people late for work.

Others questioned the logic of the happening in the first place.

And there were lots of movie and TV jokes.

For what it’s worth, Cinderella — which comes a mere six years after Disney’s live-action stab, which starred Lily James and Cate Blanchett — hits Amazon Prime on September.

Polo G Performs The Affectionate ‘So Real’ On ‘The Late Late Show’

Polo G continued his successful Hall Of Fame rollout this week with the release of videos for “Painting Pictures” and “Party Lyfe” featuring DaBaby, as well as his conversation with NBA Hall Of Famer, Scottie Pippen. However, he wasn’t done yet. Last night, he stopped by The Late Late Show with James Corden via video chat to discuss the album and deliver a pre-taped performance of the album cut, “So Real.”

During their conversation, Polo recalls how he got involved in AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) basketball in his hometown Chicago, earning an invite to the Late Late Show staff pickup game from Corden. “How’s your jumper?” he jokes. Then, Polo takes the “stage” to run through an emotive performance of the affectionate track with his band. Sitting on a stool in a darkened room and embellishing his performance with smoke machines and a dazzling laser light show, Polo builds on the techniques he’s developed with similar performances on The Tonight Show and NPR Tiny Desk Concerts, adding another impressive performance to his growing collection.

Andre 3000 Thanked The Comedian Who Compared Outkast To The Beatles In An Unorthodox Way

When comedian Ron Funches tweeted that Outkast is better than The Beatles, he likely knew his opinion would be controversial and generate plenty of discussion as a result. But he probably wasn’t expecting Andre 3000 to reach out to him and offer to send him a gift for, as he puts it, “telling the truth.” Funches explained the reasoning behind his viral tweet, analyzed the reaction to it, and revealed his correspondence with the Outkast member during last night’s episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden.

“What prompted me to write it was just my love of OutKast,” he recalled. “It’s not hatred to the Beatles — I think the Beatles are amazing.” However, he said, “Some of the things that I grew up with and that I value aren’t necessarily given the same amount of worth… They moved the entire rap industry to Atlanta, how they changed it from rapping about drugs to rapping about art, rapping about life. Erykah Badu over Yoko Ono, all day!”

Funches also said that Andre did reach out, joking that the always unconventional rapper sent him an owl — as in Harry Potter — letting him know the gift was on the way. “I hope it’s a handmade flute doesn’t work,” he giggled.
