Lil Baby Issued A Response To His ‘It’s Only Us Tour’ Shooting That Left A Fan Critically Wounded

Music festivals, as well as concerts, are becoming increasingly dangerous. In March, a stampede at GloRilla’s concert in Rochester, New York, resulted in two deaths and several injuries. On Monday, September 4, spectators stormed the gates of Electric Zoo 2023 to force their way into the festival. And on Thursday, September 7, Lil Baby’s It’s Only Us Tour stop in Memphis, Tennessee, was abruptly ended after gunshots rang out inside the FedEx Forum arena.

Fortunately, no one was killed in the incident. However, according to ABC News, one person was shot and critically wounded. Lil Baby isn’t a man of many words. Still, he did take to his official X (formerly Twitter) profile Friday, September 8, to issue a statement regarding the incident, writing, “Unfortunately, I couldn’t perform last night in Memphis. I’m going to make sure everybody gets a refund th,o 🫶🏽.”

In the newly resurfaced video clip captured by an onlooker, as Lil Baby joined his 4PF (4 Pockets Full) signee Rylo Rodriguez onstage, a gunshot erupted. Immediately, Lil Baby’s security detail rushed him off of the stage.

Local authorities took to social media to share that they were investigating the incident. The shooter has not yet been identified.

According to HipHopDX, the shooting victim has since been revealed to be CEO Jizzle, the cousin of late rapper Young Dolph.

A Person Was Shot And Critically Wounded At Lil Baby’s Recent ‘It’s Only Us Tour’ Concert, According To Local Law Enforcement

Lil Baby’s It’s Only Us Tour has faced several hiccups along the way. Just weeks before the string of shows was set to kick off, the Grammy Award-nominated rapper canceled a number of dates without offering ticketholders any explanation. Days after, he lost his biggest opening act, The Kid Laroi. Since then, it seemed as if everything had been smooth sailing until yesterday (September 7).

Unfortunately, during Lil Baby’s performance at Memphis, Tennesse’s FedEx Forum, one person was shot, according to ABC News. The outlet revealed that the victim was a male concertgoer. After being rushed to Regional One Health Medical Center, it was announced that he was in critical condition due to the wound.

WREG-TV reported that as gunshots were fired in the stadium, Lil Baby was quickly escorted offstage and was reportedly not injured.

The Memphis Police Department took to X (formerly Twitter) to share limited details, including the time of the incident and that, at the current time, the shooter’s identity was not yet known.

Ahead of the show, the entertainer took to Instagram to upload an image behind the scenes to share his excitement for the evening’s performance. Following the incident, fans have flooded the comment section of the same post to discuss their thoughts on the tragic news.

One user, claiming to be a native of the area, wrote, “we sorry i promise.”

Who Is Opening Lil Baby’s ‘It’s Only Us Tour?’

With Lil Baby’s It’s Only Us Tour entering its final month, some fans are still wondering who the four opening acts are. As the original subheadliner, The Kid Laroi, dropped out before the tour began, and Lil Baby himself doesn’t take the stage until about 9:30 pm, it’s understandable that concertgoers might want to know more about the artists taking the stage before him. Here are the opening artists on Lil Baby’s It’s Only Us Tour.

Hunxho is another Atlanta trap artist who operates in the same vein as rap crooners like Future and Rich Homie Quan. He’s a prolific creator, releasing three projects in 2023 alone, and has begun gaining more prominence thanks to his featured appearance on Quavo’s new album, Rocket Power.

Gloss Up is a Memphis rapper who happens to be GloRilla’s best friend and Lil Baby’s labelmate on Quality Control. She’s shown up on tracks with the likes of Lakeyah and Sexyy Red, and has a growing following based on her relatable ratchet raps.

Rylo Rodriguez is an artist on Lil Baby’s 4 Pockets Full imprint, who gained a certain amount of online infamy with the goofy cover for his mixtape, GOAT In Human Form. The hilarity was amplified with the revelation that he didn’t even realize GOAT is an acronym for “Greatest Of All Time” until this year.

Finally, there’s GloRilla, whose hit song “FNF” made her one of hip-hop’s hottest it-girls last year. She signed with CMG and is currently working on her debut album, looking to build on her successful breakout with some more Dirty South favorite Memphis trap swings like “Lick Or Sum” with Moneybagg Yo.

What Time Does Lil Baby Go On Stage For The ‘It’s Only Us Tour?’

Despite experiencing some early hiccups with canceled shows and opening acts dipping out, Lil Baby’s It’s Only Us Tour continues this month, with the final third leg beginning tonight in Memphis.

Fans planning on checking out the remaining eight shows may be wondering what time Lil Baby goes on stage thanks to The Kid Laroi dropping out of the schedule. In fact, that question was asked recently on Reddit, with the consensus among the commenters putting his entrance around 9:30 pm. That leaves each of the four openers around two and a half hours between them, with one Redditor noting that GloRilla, the final opener, hits the stage around 8:30 pm.

Over the course of Baby’s set, he’s been performing songs from across his discography, with only three songs coming from the tour’s namesake album. The only It’s Only Us songs he performs are: “California Breeze,” “Heyy,” and “In A Minute.” Meanwhile, he performs six tracks from his fan-favorite 2020 album My Turn, and 14 from singles or features. Lil Baby’s Tour Troubles Continue As ‘It’s Only Us’ Has Reportedly Lost Its Biggest Opening Act

It really is only us. Lil Baby’s It’s Only Us Tour was already beset by setbacks, including several canceled dates, and is now plagued by the loss of its biggest headlining act. According to TMZ, Australian singer The Kid Laroi has dropped out of the tour, leaving Lil Baby with a slate of openers whose profiles might not be enough to fill the venues he wanted to book.

While GloRilla, Gloss Up, Hunxho, and Rylo Rodriguez — all rising stars in their own rights — all remain billed for now, this could hurt a tour that’s already reportedly been troubled by low sales. For reference, Lil Baby’s tour now no longer includes an Atlanta date — meaning he won’t even be performing in his own hometown. Other cities removed from the schedule include Denver, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Louisville, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, and San Diego. Baby still shared an updated flyer on Instagram, which suggests he’s planning to proceed in either case.

The tour cancellations have been a hot topic of discussion on Twitter, with industry professionals chiming in to detail the complex logistics that often go into booking and routing a nationwide tour. Meanwhile, fans aren’t optimistic about the future of the tour, asserting that between the price of tickets and the disappointing lineup, it’s no wonder Lil Baby isn’t able to fill the arenas he aimed for. And some have other theories, mainly involving karma:

You can still check out the remaining dates here.

Several Of Lil Baby’s ‘It’s Only Us Tour’ Dates Were Canceled, So Fans Have Flooded His Social Media Comments To Demand An Explanation

Lil Baby is just one of the dozens of artists hitting the road for a national tour. However, several of his It’s Only Us Tour dates were quietly canceled, which sent impacted ticketholders into a frenzy.

In Lil Baby’s latest post on Instagram, where he’s been marketing the tour, ten tour dates were noticeably missing, including the previously planned stops in Phoenix, San Diego, Las Vegas, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, Denver, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, and Louisville.

Fans flooded the comment section of the post to demand an explanation for the canceled shows.

Lil Baby Will Hit The Road With The Kid Laroi, GloRilla, Gloss Up, And More For The ‘It’s Only Us Tour’

In late March, Lil Baby surprised fans in Florida by making a guest appearance on the Future and Friends One Big Party Tour. Future bringing out the “California Breeze” rapper on stage must’ve reignited Lil Baby’s love for performing live to a stadium of roaring fans. So much so that in his latest social media post, the entertainer took time away from his vacation to scout opening acts for a tour of his own.

As he runs the idea by fellow musicians The Kid Laroi, GloRilla, and Gloss Up on FaceTime, everyone eagerly agrees to join Lil Baby on the road for his It’s Only Us Tour. Although the Atlanta native is set to perform at the Metro Metro Festival in Montreal and The Governors Ball music festival prior, the tour officially kicks off in July.

Rylo Rodriguez and Hunxho will also join the It’s Only Us Tour as opening support.

Tickets for Lil Baby’s It’s Only Us Tour go on sale beginning on Thursday, April 13, at 10 am local time. For more information, click here.
