Tony Yayo Details The Exact Moment He Knew Eminem Was “Real”

Tony Yayo doesn’t doubt that Eminem is with the sh*ts. During his appearance on Drink Champs, the G-Unit rapper recounted the infamous showdown between 50 Cent and Suge Knight at the “In Da Club” music video shoot. If you don’t know, Suge apparently tried to run up and intimidate 50 Cent and other members of the Aftermath crew, only to bounce out shortly after Fif and co. made it clear that they would put up a fight. However, it was Eminem, who was at the height of his career, that was apparently willing to lead the brigade.

On Drink Champs, Tony Yayo provided a hilarious account of what went on that day. He explained that dancers and extras on the set began panicking as they yelled, “Suge is coming!” He detailed a chaotic environment as pieces of the set and cameras fell to the ground while crew members fled. “Look, Suge came but this is why I always respected Eminem, 50 Cent and n***as that was with us,” he said. Yayo explained that he was startled by the individuals rolling with Suge due to their face tattoos. Still, he was ready for war, explaining, “If we don’t pop now, it’s back to the hood.”

Tony Yayo’s Respect For Eminem

While Eminem, 50 Cent, and their crew were ready to fight against Suge Knight and his crew of alleged Blood members, Yayo explained that the Death Row CEO was largely waiting to see what happened before he acted. “This the sh*t about Suge. He’ll light the cigar – he trying to see what you’re going to do,” he said. “Eminem, 50, everyone outside. [Suge] lights his cigar. I was buggin’ ‘cause I seen – this is when I knew Eminem was real. He was like, ‘I don’t give a f*ck, man,’” Yayo said in his best Eminem impression. “I was like, ‘Damn, Eminem is a real n***a.’”

Yayo continued, “50’s n***as outside, [like], ‘Wassup?!’ and then the n***a Suge just walked away. Mexican n***as looked kind of confused like they didn’t know what was going on. Eminem came outside 100%.” Again, Yayo reiterated that Eminem stated, “I don’t give a f**k, man!’” and explained that Proof previously had a run-in with Suge Knight where he accused the music mogul of murdering Tupac. 50 Cent Responds To Viral Clip Of “In Da Club” Playing At Ja Rule’s Concert

Ja Rule and 50 Cent will never see eye-to-eye but most would agree that the latter came out the victor in their back-and-forth. However, it seems like Ja Rule will never live down his loss in his battle against Fif.

Case in point — Ja Rule’s performance at in Omaha, Nebraska in December. Power 106.9’s Jingle Jam booked Ja Rule to perform at the Baxter Arena. However, he was quickly reminded of his feud with the “21 Questions” rapper before he was even able to hit the stage.

Footage circulated over the past few days of the DJ playing 50 Cent’s “In Da Club” at the venue. It’s unclear at what point in the show this was but it clearly didn’t sit well with Ja’s team. Shortly after, a member of the rapper’s crew tried to shut things down. “Stop the show right here,” one person said. Another person says afterward, “Aye, cut that shit off!”

Though the footage is a month old, there hasn’t been any statement from Ja Rule about the matter. Chances are, he won’t be speaking about it any time soon. Or perhaps, he wasn’t even aware of what was going on at the time.

50 Cent, on the other hand, didn’t waste any time chiming in. He shared the footage on his Instagram page, revealing that he wished he was responsible for the mishap on stage.

“LOL Now this is some funny shit ! I wish i had something to do with it,” he captioned the post.

The feud between the two parties goes as far back as 1999. Though things died down for a while in the early 2010s, 50 Cent didn’t hold back on dissing Ja Rule whenever the opportunity came up.

We’ll keep you posted if Ja Rule ever ends up responding to 50 Cent.

50 Cent Explains “It’s Your Birthday” Line From 2003 Hit “In Da Club”

Following the success of 50 Cent’s breakout 2003 single “In da Club,” the New York native went on to achieve a successful career in rap and business.

Ahead of the song’s 20-year anniversary, he was asked what inspired him to start the track with the iconic line, “Go shorty, it’s ya birthday.” The rapper then shared that they were simply the first lyrics he thought of.

Sitting down with Real 92.3, 50 Cent revealed earlier this week, “It’s just the first thing that came to mind. Like when you think of the nightclub…Even the ladies, right? When y’all go to the nightclub…when you go with your girlfriend and it’s her birthday you go with intentions to have a good time regardless to who’s there.”

Featured on 50 Cent’s debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin’, the song’s well-known music video shows the rapper partying at the club and infamously doing hanging sit-ups at the gym. “In da Club” producer Dr. Dre also made an appearance in the visual along with Eminem, who helped discover 50.

The song begins with the famous lyrics, “Go, shorty / It’s your birthday / We gon’ party like it’s your birthday / We gon’ sip Bacardi like it’s your birthday / And you know we don’t give a f**k it’s not your birthday.”

The album and hit single earned the “Many Men” rapper several Grammy nominations, with 50 Cent considered for Best Rap Song, Best Male Rap Solo Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best New Artist in 2004.

50 Cent was eventually able to expand his talent outside of the hip-hop community, later working with Vitamin Water, partnering with Effen Vodka, and becoming an overall mogul. In 2014, he added even more to his resume when he co-produced the hit Starz drama “Power.”

Though the series wrapped up with six seasons, it spawned several spinoffs including “Power Book II: Ghost” and “Power Book III: Raising Kanan.” 50 Cent also serves as executive producer of “BMF,” the crime series chronicling Big Meech’s Black Mafia Family.

50 Cent Had A Simple Reaction To Getting His First Song With 1 Billion Streams On Spotify

“In Da Club” was a huge moment for 50 Cent. It was the lead single from 50’s 2003 debut album Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ and it launched the album on a high note, as it ended up become the rapper’s first No. 1 single. Ultimately, the track was one of the defining songs of its era: In 2009, it ranked at No. 24 on Billboard‘s decade-end chart.

The song remains beloved, too. 50 got to perform it at the Super Bowl earlier this year and it was one of the halftime show’s most memorable moments. Furthermore, recently, Spotify revealed that the song had surpassed 1 billion streams on the platform, making it 50’s first track to do so. Currently, it has an additional 3.8 million or so streams on top of the billion. 50 shared the news on Instagram and offered a simple reaction: “take your time and make it a classic.”

It turns out the song very nearly wasn’t the lead Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ single. Eminem, a producer on the album, previously revealed, “We couldn’t decide on the first single from Get Rich. It was going to be either ‘If I Can’t” or ‘In Da Club.’ We were torn, so me, 50, Paul [Rosenberg], Chris Lighty, and Jimmy Iovine decided to flip a coin.”
