HNHH’S Annual Holiday Playlist Is Championed By Gucci Mane, Chris Brown, TLC, And More

Rather than sticking to our weekly tradition of updating our Fire Emoji and R&B Season playlists, this Saturday, we have something extra special in store – our annual hip-hop holiday roundup.

Instead of showcasing new releases like we typically do, this collection is all about setting the Christmas mood. As you may have guessed, the titles on the tracklist are all festively themed and come from artists both old and new to the industry.

First on our playlist for 2022 is Rae Sremmurd’s “Nothing For Christmas.” Immediately afterward, Yo Gotti lets us know what’s on his “Wish List.”

Of course, it wouldn’t be the holidays without Gucci Mane. We have two tracks from him for you – “St. Brick Intro” and later, “All I Want for Christmas.” Next, the LVRN label holds it down with “Ghetto Christmas” from 6LACK and Summer Walker. Additionally, we hear dvsn’s “Let It Snow.”

Xavier Omär and Alex Isley are sipping “Peppermint Tea” on their collaborative track. Next, DRAM wants to help you celebrate “Litmas” this year.

Following those selections come some huge names, like Kanye West and Teyana Taylor. They worked with CyHi on “Christmas In Harlem,” which can only be followed by someone like Tyler, the Creator. For his part, the Igor artist worked with Ryan Beatty and Santigold on “Lights On.” The track appears alongside several others on his Grinch-inspired album.

Holding things down for the R&B lovers on this update is Chris Brown, who shared “No Time Like Christmas” a few weeks before the holiday season got into full swing.

Smino, Masego, Nicki Minaj, Bryson Tiller, Kiana Ledé, Jim Jones, DMX, and TLC are just a few others you’ll find throughout our latest playlist.

Check it all out exclusively on Spotify below. Afterward, let us know what your favourite hip-hop holiday hits are in the comments.

Eben’s Holiday Playlist Helps Him Get Into A State Of Zen

Eben doesn’t have to go far for an epic holiday light show. “We have the best light show in the country at the Cincinnati Zoo and I go every year,” he tells Uproxx over email. It’s part of an annual celebration that starts with the traditional Christmas breakfast and ends with the entire family lounging around the house in matching pajamas “Last Christmas me and my Meemaw got super drunk off of mimosas before 10 am. My mom came in and yelled at us to pull our shit together so we could open presents.”

Holiday music is a comfort blanket for Eben that helps him to get in what he calls “a state of zen.” “Nothing more nostalgic than Christmas music.” To get in the holiday spirit, Eben sat down to list his favorite seasonal tunes in the final Uproxx holiday playlist series. Check out all of his picks, as well as the full playlist, down below.

Brenda Lee – “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree”

This is my favorite Christmas song ever it reminds me of every happy childhood Christmas memory.

Bobby Helms – “Jingle Bell Rock”

This one reminds me of walking through Macy’s around Christmas and taking a picture with Santa at the mall.

Justin Bieber – “Mistletoe”

This one is just undeniably incredible. If you don’t have this in your Christmas playlist it’s disrespectful.

Frank Sinatra – “Let It Snow! Let Is Snow! Let It Snow!”

If this song had a smell it would be a warm home-cooked meal.

Perry Como, The Fontane Sisters – “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas”

This song reminds me of baking cookies with my meemaw when I was younger.

Burl Ives – “Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer”

When I was younger I was in a show called A Christmas Carole and we would always sing this song after the show in the park for families.

Eartha Kitt – “Santa Baby”

This one straight gets me going.

Nat King Cole – “Deck The Halls”

I remember singing this in my school choir in 6 grade our harmonies were elite.

MAY-A’s Holiday Playlist Brings Back Fond Memories

Winter in the United States is summer in Australia, so May-A typically spends Christmas holidays by the beach, “attempting surfing or passed out in the sand somewhere,” they tell us via email. In fact, one of MAY-A’s favorite holiday memories comes from a camping trip when they spent the whole day kayaking. “The kayak was made out of fiberglass and it had split somewhere along the side but I hadn’t realised, the fiberglass particles all got stuck in my skin and I couldn’t move for the entire day,” they remember. “My cousin lost his phone in the river and we ended up having to sleep in a trailer because there weren’t any beds, so many things were chaotic but it was the closest I’d felt to my family and the last time I saw some of them.”

Despite the differing scenery of the season in Australia, holiday music still plays a big role in the appreciation for the time of year — when you want it to. “Holiday music can be the most overly positive overly cheery shit sometimes,” MAY-A explains. “When you’re in the mood for it, it’s uplifting and fun, when you’re not, it makes you feel like the grinch. I’m on both sides of the spectrum for sure. Despite the varying appreciation for holiday music, May-A still sat down to take part in the latest installment of the Uproxx holiday playlist.

Michael Bublé – “Holly Jolly Christmas”

This song is the epitome of a love/hate relationship. For instance, I hate this song most of the time. But sometimes, in the right setting and the right mood, surrounded by family it’s a nice warm feeling. If this song comes on the radio when I’m by myself I’ll probably try to pull it out of the car.

Wham! – “Last Christmas”

I remember last year around Christmas this song came on the radio about every 20 minutes, and it was great. I listen to this song outside of the holidays as well.

Justin Bieber – “Mistletoe”

Was in love with Justin Bieber as a kid so when this song came out i was stoked. I remember watching the music video wishing it was about me.

Bobby Helms – “Jingle Bell Rock”

A nice feel-good christmas song

Michael Bublé – “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas”

This song makes me feel calm and I feel like I’m in a Mary Poppins movie or something. I feel classy.

Mariah Carey – “All I Want For Christmas Is You”

An absolute banger. I live and die for Mariah and this song. enough said.

Joel Feliciano – “Feliz Navidad”

This is the definition of a Christmas party song. Put this one on at a Christmas party and you’ll get everyone up and dancing.

The Jackson 5 – “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus”

Just a funky Christmas song, the Jackson 5 always bring a good vibe.
