Roddy Ricch and Mustard have a longstanding creative partnership, working together on some of the Compton rapper’s biggest songs to date. They’ve teamed up on “Ballin'” before returning with “High Fashion” on Roddy’s debut album. Additionally, they’ve also collaborated on Ty Dolla $ign’s album for “Real Life.” It seems as though they’ve been cooking up in the last few months, previewing a promising slate of new music. On Monday, Roddy shared a snippet of their new song “Late @ Night.”

The song features a vocal sample at the beginning of the record, which falls in line with the rest of their work together. As you’ll remember, “Ballin'” also had a heavy vocal sample in the background. The feel of the song is pretty low-key, fitting well with their other releases. As of the time of publication, a collaborative project hasn’t been announced but there are rumblings that the producer-rapper duo could be working on an entire album together.

Recently, it was revealed that Roddy and Mustard had invested in MixedByAli’s new company EngineEars. They were among Kendrick Lamar, DJ Khaled, Russ, Ella Mai, and other early backers. Read more about that here.

At the tail end of last month, Dave Chappelle, Talib Kweli and yasiin bey announced their forthcoming The Midnight Miracle podcast. Described as providing “a glimpse into a very interesting season in the lives of the three hosts and their friends, and features guests from among the country’s most influential cultural icons,” the trio officially launched the salon-style show on Tuesday (May 11). 

Housed on Luminary, a subscription-based podcast network, episode one and two of The Midnight Miracle debuted today on the platform. Episode One of the series is currently available for free of charge to all listeners on the Luminary app, across social media channels like Youtube and Instagram, and Apple Podcasts. The second episode and all subsequent ones will be available exclusively to Luminary subscribers. 

The podcast will also be available to Luminary subscribers on Apple Podcasts soon when the platform launches its subscription offering later this month. 

The first episode includes audio clips from Robin Williams, Richard Pryor, and music from the likes of Amy Winehouse, Aretha Franklin, Robert Glasper, The Roots, and Stevie Wonder. In episode two, Kweli and bey’s hip-hop duo premiere new original music on the episode, which is their first new offerings in over 20 years. Featured guests include Questlove, Radio Rahim, Lamorne Morris, and Jon Hamm. 

“Making a podcast isn’t the obvious next move for me, but it’s the right one. The Midnight Miracle gives you a look into how me and my friends process the world around us, and I think it will change the way listeners think of what a podcast can be,” said Chappelle about the podcast.

Rapper Tory Lanez is building a string of troubling accusations, most recently being named in a police report by Love & Hip-Hop: Miami star Prince. Prince previously claimed that Tory Lanez attacked him at a Miami nightclub in November 2019. The artist allegedly put hands on Prince again, being accused of punching him in the face at Vendome in South Beach last week.

According to a report by TMZ, Prince has filed a police report claiming that Tory Lanez attacked him once again last week. The incident allegedly took place at 4 AM last Monday when Prince was approached at the club and punched in the left side of his face. He says that he required medical attention, showing the swelling on social media. Prince told officers that he allegedly made eye contact with Tory, who ran out of the club and drove off in a Sprinter van. He was named as a suspect in the police report for alleged battery.

Prince was reportedly partying with Malcolm Butler of the NFL and the alleged attack happened when Butler left the reality star alone in their section. 

According to the report, Tory is denying any involvement in the incident. A rep for the rapper says that he was “nowhere near Prince at the time he alleges.” He also says there is no footage or witnesses to back up the story.

Though 50 Cent has long enjoyed his reign as one of the many viable King Of New York contenders, all dynasties must indeed come to an end. Following the news that his new show Confessions Of A Crime Queen had been greenlit at Discovery Plus, Fif opted to pack his bags and move to Houston, wasting little time in immersing himself in the culture — so much so that he recently won the 2021 Rodeo Uncorked International Wine Competition, becoming the Reserve Grand Champion thanks to Le Chemin Du Roi.

Even Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner took to Instagram to welcome Fif to the city, sharing a picture of themselves connecting at a Christmas-themed event. “It is great to hear that you have chosen our city as your new home,” captions Turner. “Welcome to the most diverse city in the nation.” 

It would appear that Mayor Turner isn’t the only one embracing Fif’s move to Houston. Residents of the city have taken to Photoshop to celebrate the rapper’s arrival, turning him into a veritable Carmen Sandiego through geographical displays of meme ingenuity. Before long, 50 found himself whisked away to a variety of Houston landmarks, braving land, sea, and derriere without batting an eye. “Houston’s showing me a lot of love LOL,” captions 50, sharing a few of his favorite memes on his Instagram page.

Years removed from their tenure with the label, former members of the 00s hip-hop collective G-Unit have since discussed tales of their time. In an interview with VLAD TV late last year, Yung Buck came forward with multiple tales of how he was sabotaged within G-Unit and how his problems with co-founder 50 Cent escalated.

He claimed Fifty blocked him and former G-Unit members from partaking in a multi-million dollar deal before eventually dashing all hope of a potential reunion. Now, former member Hot Rod is speaking of his experiences and time spent under the imprint. This week, the artist appeared on the FlipDaScript podcast to open up about the issues he had with people around 50 Cent.

In this 40 minute segment of the three-hour-long plus interview, things mainly centered around his dislike for former G-Unit Records manager Hovain, whom he believed sabotaged his career. 

He further discussed how he believed other people in Queens, like Gunit, started to like him less after he received a co-sign for Fifty. Elsewhere, he got into how he was kicked out of 50 Cent’s mansion and how the late Mazaradi Fox helped save his life during his beef with Jimmy Henchmen.

Kodak Black may have lost some favor among the hip-hop community after pleading guilty to a recent assault charge, which led to lots of scrutiny on social media, but he’s trying to gain it back the same way he earned it in the first place: with his music.

The Florida rapper recently announced his upcoming new music, teasing a fresh pack at the end of this week. Along with a preview of his new song “Thermillia,” Kodak unveiled his cover artwork for the project. While it has not been announced whether this is an album, mixtape, or an EP, many are expecting this to be an EP with a few songs. Yak wears all-red on the cover, showing love to his Haitian roots with traditional prayer candles on the ground and more. 

Haitian Boy Kodak will be released on May 14. It follows up the release of Bill Israel last year.

This week, Kodak caught the attention of thousands by getting a new tattoo in red ink over his eyelids. The ink spells out “Red Rum,” or “Murder” backward. He also recently squashed his feud with Pooh Shiesty, so there’s a chance they could be working together on new music soon.

It has been over eleven years since Lloyd Banks delivered a studio album, with his final effort having been The Hunger For More 2 in November 2010. Though Banks has filled the void with several mixtapes, many have been eager to see another complete album from the Punchline King — especially in recent years, with gritty bar-driven rap returning to the forefront through artists like Conway, Benny The Butcher, Westside Gunn, Freddie Gibbs, ad more. 

Luckily, it would appear that Lloyd Banks has finally declared it time. Shortly after Banks returned with a teaser trailer for his upcoming COTI project, his manager Hovain confirmed that the album was “101% done.” Now, Banks has followed up with even more hype-inducing news, changing his Twitter profile picture to “#COTI” and all but cementing that a release of new music is imminent.

As of now, the meaning of the acronym has yet to be unveiled, but it’s likely something unexpected — especially considering Banks put 10k on the line for whoever is first to guess it correctly. Hopefully, Banks can come through with some concrete details before long, as many have been eagerly awaiting to see potential guest verses and production credits. Maya Angelou passed away back in 2014, however, the famed poet will forever be immortalized for her contributions to the world of poetry. The U.S. Mint will take more affirmative steps in cementing Angelou’s legacy by honoring on quarters as part of a new American Women Quarters Program. The poet and NASA Astronaut Sally Ride will be featured on the back of coins set to debut in January and remain in circulation through 2025. 

In a statement, U.S. Representative Barbara Lee explained, “for too long, many of the women who have contributed to our country’s history have gone unrecognized, especially women of color.”

She added that the women, “paved the way for many who came after them and inspired young women to carry on their legacy.” The U.S. Mint announced the women would be the first two honorees in the series, adding the front of the quarter, “will continue to feature a likeness of George Washington designed in a manner to distinguish it from the current image.”

Sen. Deb Fischer and Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto introduced the legislation into Congress that helped create the American Women Quarters Program. In an opinion piece in USA Today, the women explained that “as female U.S. senators, our story would not have been possible without these women who came before us.”

“We look forward to being reminded of their legacies every time we see their faces on a new quarter,” they wrote.

The federal bureau is also encouraging people who want to nominate women to be featured on the upcoming quarters should do so at this online portal.

Memphis rapper Pooh Shiesty is understanding the perils of fame after getting caught in two scandals at the same damn time. This week, the “Back In Blood” rapper was called out by Youngboy Never Broke Again’s ex-girlfriend Jania Meshell, who claimed that Pooh had slid into her DMs. He has denied having any romantic involvement with the influencer. In addition to that story, Shiesty is also being questioned on social media after a transgender woman posted an explicit video with a rapper who many have theorized could be him. The man has a similar skin complexion and was wearing 1017 chains.

“Wit yo favorite rapper! Literally! Thanks for the AP DADDY,” wrote the woman in the video, who is hawking the full version on her OnlyFans. In the clip, she rubs the man’s bare chest and shows off her ice. People have commented on the video, claiming that her watch is not an AP. Others have shared side-by-side comparison photos of Pooh’s 1017 chains and the man’s jewelry from the video, pointing out that there’s a good chance the rapper in the video is wearing fake ice.

Pooh responded to the drama on Twitter, saying, “Go Play with somebody who ain’t gone kill you. And on that man on my face I ain’t comment that.  that’s my response.” In a since-deleted post, he added, “Can’t no internet tell u who I’m f*cking.”
