Drake Declares Album Is Finished: “‘Certified Lover Boy’ On The Way”

As Hip Hop awaits Kanye West’s DONDA, Drake has shared some good news from the OVO Sound camp. The buzz around Certified Lover Boy feels as if it has gone on for ages, but according to Drizzy, the album is mixed, mastered, and complete. The news came courtesy of Sound 42 where Drake dropped off a brief update for the world.

“Album’s cooked,” the Rap mogul said before a heavy sigh. “Looking forward to delivering it to you.”

“I hope everybody in the world is blessed. I hope everybody has their drinks, everyone’s locked in. Good vibes and good energy for this weekend,” he continued. “And for the rest of you heathens, I wanna tell you, ’cause I know you’re listening, don’t trouble people’s kids, don’t bother people’s soul. Know what I’m sayin’?”

“OVO, we aim for that head. We don’t aim to please. Certified Lover Boy on the way. And that’s for anyone in the way.” Fans have expressed that they hope the project arrives sooner than later, and of course, there comes the speculation that CLB will drop on the same day as DONDA. We don’t expect that to happen, but Drake previously promised that his work of art would be released by summer’s end. Time’s ticking.

Young Buck Sued By Bankruptcy Trustee For Not Handing Over Royalties: Report

A bankruptcy trustee has reportedly ignited a legal battle with Young Buck. The Tennessee native is no stranger to having trouble with the law as he was arrested in both 2019, but his recent set of worries come from allegations that he’s refusing to turn over his royalties to settle debts. Just prior to the pandemic causing the world to undergo a global quarantine, Buck reportedly filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy in January 2020. In documents, the rapper reportedly told the court that he made $4,450 per month while his monthly bills were $1,490.

According to Radar Online, Buck listed his “assets totaling $5,761 with liabilities totaling $48,316.20.” It appears that the rapper reportedly owes over $45K in back child support, in addition to $1,250 “in taxes and other debts.”

At the time, it is reported that Buck also stated in documents that he didn’t have a vehicle and was using his girlfriend’s car. A trustee was appointed to make sense of Buck’s debts in order to help him get back on track, but the trustee now alleges that the rapper is making money from his ASCAP checks but refuses to use them in his bankruptcy. It is reported that those royalties are approximately $35K.

To add insult to injury, documents reportedly state that 50 Cent, Buck’s former friend and longtime foe, may be one of his creditors. Young Buck has yet to respond to the lawsuit.

Dolly Parton Used Royalties From “I Will Always Love You” To Support Black Neighborhood

The song became a mega-success for Whitney Houston as she poured her heart out in the studio belting “I Will Always Love You” for The Bodyguard soundtrack, but at the time, not many of her fans knew that the track was a Dolly Parton original. The Country music icon has been a beloved figure in the industry for decades as she has often defied those who share her demographic.

Miley Cyrus’s godmother caught up with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live and was asked about her career, and the host wanted to know the greatest gift she’d purchased for herself using the royalties earned from Houston’s remake of her 1973 song.

“I bought my big office complex down in Nashville. So I thought, ‘Well, this is a wonderful place to be,'” Parton answered. “I bought a property down in what was the Black area of town, and it was mostly just Black families and people that lived around there. It was off the beaten path from 16th Avenue and I thought, ‘Well, I am gonna buy this place — the whole strip mall.’ And I thought, ‘This is the perfect place for me to be,’ considering it was Whitney.”

“I thought this was great,” she added. “I’m just gonna be down here with her people, who are my people as well. So, I just love the fact that I spent that money on a complex and I think, ‘This is the house that Whitney built.'”

Beyoncé Earns No. 1 Spot On Greatest Music Videos Of All Time With “Formation”

Since the inception of music videos, there have been some major moments in music history. Many top tier visuals have included several Michael Jackson hits as well as videos from Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Biggie, Run-DMC, Kendrick Lamar, Weezer, Janet Jackson, Radiohead, Lady Gaga, and dozens of others, and in a recent article, Rolling Stone revealed their choices for the 100 Greatest Music Videos of all time.

This list, like many of the other “top” discussions in the industry, is an arguable one at best, but Beyoncé snagging the No. 1 spot with “Formation” has critics and fans debating her position.

Rolling Stone placed Bey’s “Formation” in the coveted spot and the BeyHive couldn’t be happier. The track is pulled from the singer’s massive hit record Lemonade released in 2016 and was written by Mike WiLL Made-It, Swae Lee, and Pluss. The visual was directed by Melina Matsoukas who was inspired by Beyoncé’s familial heritage as well as the works of other famous Black women who inspired the culture.

The music video for “Formation” was filmed in two days between Beyoncé’s rehearsals for the Super Bowl. “I wanted to show—this is black people,” Matsoukas previously told The New Yorker. “We triumph, we suffer, we’re drowning, we’re being beaten, we’re dancing, we’re eating, and we’re still here.”

Do you think this video deserves the top spot? If not, what music video do you think deserves to be No. 1? Check out “Formation” below along with a few reactions.

Lamar Odom Ordered To Pay Ex Nearly $400K In Court Battle: Report

As he prepares for his bout against heavyweight champion Riddick Bowe, Lamar Odom has is facing off with his ex in court. We previously reported on the legal issues plaguing Odom and Liza Morales, and their court case spilled over to social media after the former NBA star openly rejected the allegations against him.

According to reports, Morales accused Odom of owing $91K in child support and $83 in rent that he hadn’t paid in a year. Odom was reportedly financially responsible for Morales’s New York apartment where she lives with their children, but the sports icon called her out for allegedly not having employment to take care of herself.

Morales snapped back and called his Instagram rant “lies,” and a judge seems to have put it to rest by ordering Odom to cough up $380K. TMZ reports that back in 2015, the ex-couple came to a “settlement agreement requiring the NBA legend to pay thousands of dollars per month for the benefit of the former couple’s two kids.”

This latest judgment now requires Odom to pay “$91,220 in outstanding child support, $88,117 in missed rent, $161,305 for their children’s college funds and expenses, and nearly $40k for her legal fees and expenses.” Odom and Morales never married, but she and their children openly supported him as he recovered from his near-fatal overdose back in 2015.

In recent months, Odom has suggested that he wants to reconcile with ex-wife Khloé Kardashian.

Cuba Gooding Jr. Accused Of Ignoring Lawsuit, Could Face $6 Million Judgment: Report

There have been several allegations made against Cuba Gooding Jr. and many of them have caused the Academy Award-winning actor to face off with his accusers in court. A criminal case against Gooding finds that three women have accused him of sexual assault, and allegations come from one woman who alleged that he pinched her behind, a second that stated that he squeezed one of her breasts, and a third that has said the actor raped her in a New York City hotel room. In 2019, it was reported that almost two dozen women had come forward with the alleged stories of their interactions with Gooding that resulted in inappropriate behaviors.

This week, Gooding suffered a devastating blow when a judge reportedly issued a default judgment against the actor after he failed to respond to the lawsuit about the alleged rape in New York. Gooding reportedly missed the May 13 deadline and hasn’t responded to the court.

According to the Huffington Post, the judge didn’t believe that it was fair for Gooding’s accuser to have to continue to wait as the actor was “willfully ignoring” the suit. Additionally, the judge claimed that Gooding’s silence “constituted an admission of liability.” Gooding has denied the allegations through his attorney and reportedly stated that the rape accuser is “looking for some glory to bask in the publicity and notoriety of Cuba Gooding Jr.’s case.”

She is reportedly seeking $6 million in damages and will return to court on September 7 to learn the judge’s decision. Gooding and his accuser have been invited by the judge to discuss damages before a ruling is set in place. Gooding’s criminal trial launches on October 18 and the actor has pleaded not guilty to the charges set against him.

Joe Budden Gets Called Out By Saucy Santana Over Comments About “Walk”

He received backlash over his viral hit, but Saucy Santana insists that the track wasn’t a diss song. “Walk” was released during the height of Santana’s online back-and-forth with fellow social media personality Rolling Ray. There is no love lost between these two, and they’ve often taken to the internet to throw verbal jabs at one another.

Santana was accused of creating “Walk” as a way to poke fun at Ray’s disability, considering Rolling Ray is in a wheelchair. Joe Budden was on his podcast when he spoke about the song and Santana clapped back that Budden was spreading misinformation.

Santa shared a clip of The Joe Budden Podcast speaking about his Rolling Loud Miami performance with City Girls, and in the video, Budden said he knows of the social media star but isn’t aware of why he’s famous. “I’ve heard [“Walk”], and then they said, ‘Do you know that it’s a diss song to Rolling Ray?’ I don’t know Rolling Ray either, but I know he’s in a wheelchair.”

In the caption, Santana disputes rumors about his hit. “@joebudden stay out them blogs, Brody!!!” he wrote. “WALK is NOT a diss record! It’s a HIT record! Let’s use our brains. You’ve seen every big celebrity support this record. U really thought it was a handicap diss? No one sided beef it worth enough time to diss.”

Not everyone is convinced, but you can check out the clip below.

Olympics Send Home German Coach For Racist Remarks About North African Cyclists

It is true that Simone Biles has stolen attention from the Tokyo Olympics after announcing her departure, but that isn’t the only controversy plaguing the global competition. There are growing concerns regarding the quick-spreading Delta variant of COVID-19, discussions about the banning of larger swimming caps for people with certain *thicker* hair types ran rampant, Sha’Carri Richardson was suspended over marijuana use, the director of the opening ceremony was fired over past jokes about the Holocaust, cardboard beds were implemented to keep Olympians from having sex with one another, and on Friday (July 30), it was reported that Germany’s cycling coach Patrick Moster was booted due to racist remarks.

During the men’s road time trial event this week, Moster was seen and heard on video yelling the remarks at his cyclist as a way of encouraging him to go faster. The derogatory term was referencing other cyclists from North African countries Algeria and Eritrea.

The German Olympic Sports Confederation made the decision to send Moster back home and later, the coach denied being racist. He apologized for his words but insisted it was something that happened as tempers were running high.

“In the heat of the moment and with the overall burden that we have here at the moment, my choice of words was not appropriate,” Moster reportedly said. “I am extremely sorry and can only offer my sincere apologies.” Check out the Olympics moment below.
