This declaration has sparked a debate among generations of Hip Hop and the discussions don’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Artists have been addressing pop culture trends on It’s Tricky with Raquel Harper, and a clip that she shared on Instagram with Gillie Da Kid has ignited passionate takes about who the next Rap icon-mogul-business tycoon is in the industry. 

Gillie isn’t one to shy away from controversy, especially as it pertains to sharing his opinions, and this time, he insisted that Lil Durk is the Jay-Z of this generation.

“What you mean? You know who the new Hov is,” the Million Dollaz Worth of Game host said in the clip. “‘I’m Durkio but I’m Chicago’s Jay-Z.’ Yeah, you know who the new Hov is!” Harper questioned if Gillie really believed that. “Yes! To the young street n*ggas? Yes. Because see, Hov was about, you know, being a hustler, gettin’ some money, gettin’ the—that was the wave when we was young.”

“We didn’t look up to the shooters. The shooters was crash dummies. If you was a shooter, you was a n*gga who life didn’t mean that much. We didn’t value your life. You was a goofy. It didn’t matter if you went to jail ’cause you gon’ die or go to jail anyway soon. You’s a goofy… Now, the shooters get praise. A n*gga can have some bodies and have no money and be popular. It’s like, wait, that n*gga don’t—that n*gga just got a $600 rusty gun. Like, what the f*ck is we praising him about?”

Dedicated Hip Hop dads love showing off their kids, especially as they enjoy all of the luxuries that stardom affords. Before we know it, Father’s Day will be upon us and social media timelines will be flooded with our favorite entertainers highlighting their best moments with their children. However, it’s not all about showing off for the ‘Gram, as 2 Chainz recently noted in a screenshot of a message he received from his wife, Kesha Ward.

The happy family often makes appearances online as both 2 Chainz and Kesha share celebratory moments. Yet, this time, the rapper jokingly-non-jokingly lamented over dropping nearly $100K on tuitions for their three kids.

“Hey guys! Another year has approached us and it is time to pay tuition again,” the message from Kesha reads. “Payment is due June 15th. Here is the breakdown…. Heaven-9th-31,150, Harmony-5th-38,680, Halo-1st-26,700. Totaling-$96,530 Thank you for being a great father and husband [wink kiss face emoji].”

Private schools can set folks back and in the caption to the post, 2 Chainz added: “Kesha hellll [weary face emoji][face palm emoji][crying laughing emoji] im fina send ya kids to Duke for this kinda money [tongue out money face emoji].” Famous dads flooded the rapper’s comments to say that they felt his pain. Every bit of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard‘s trial is being dissected as the former couple go at it in court. Both Hollywood stars have accused the other of unthinkable abuse—whether it be mental, physical, or emotional. Heard has seemingly admitted to defecating on Depp’s bed, while she claimed that he hit her in the face and shoved his fingers in her genitals, looking for cocaine.

Each new headline reads like a Hollywood script of chaos, but this all boils down to Depp and Heard suing one another for exorbitant amounts of money. The latest turn in the saga is allegations that Depp is carrying on some love affair with one of his attorneys, but TMZ reported that this just isn’t the case.

Camille Vasquez is reportedly one of several attorneys working on Depp’s case, and during the trial, there have been photos taken, and shared, of the two’s interactions. This has led to rumors and gossip leaks about an alleged relationship, but “sources” have come forward to quickly shut down that conversation.

TMZ reported that social media fanatics have run wild with the rumors on both TikTok and Twitter. “To that point, our sources tell us … everyone on the legal team is buttoned up, but they’ve all gotten very close to their client — it’s become both a professional relationship and a friendship.” They added, “As for all the smiling and giggling some have noticed between Johnny and Camille, we’re told she finds him funny … and couldn’t help but laugh at some of his antics and/or his sense of humor.”

Vasquez is reportedly in a relationship with a man in real estate, but this information hasn’t kept people from speculating.

We’re a week into Come Home The Kids Miss You and everyone has been weighing the success of Jack Harlow’s sophomore effort. The album has been widely praised by most critics—aside from Pitchfork—and Harlow amped the hype surrounding his release by making appearances with Drake and DJ Drama. His singles “Nail Tech” and “First Class” continue to receive spins thanks to the Kentucky rapper’s dedicated fanbase, including, apparently, Bobby Shmurda who has been enjoying Harlow’s Fergie-sampled hit.

While fans continue to wait for more information about the newly-independent Shmurda‘s debut record, the rapper recently visited Power 105.1 where he chopped it up with DJ Self.

However, it wasn’t his interview that caught fans’ attention; it was a clip of Shmurda showing off his dance moves once again. This time, he was grooving to Harlow’s “First Class” and was clearly into it. “Yo Jack! I like this sh*t!” he said in a video he shared on his Instagram Story. 

In a recent interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, Harlow dissected his career climb and refuted any rumors that he didn’t work for his spot on the charts. 

“My career had very humble beginnings,” he said. “That’s why anytime I see my name associated with anything like ‘industry plant,’ it makes me so proud to really be able to say that I’m like, out of everyone in the game right now, one of the furthest from it.” Check out Shmurda giving Harlow his props below.

When she isn’t making her TikTok followers laugh by often trolling her industry peers, Tierra Whack is sharing wisdom on Instagram. In a mainstream culture where everyday people can become famous with the help of a social media video or meme, it seems as if many people these days are networking instead of forging real relationships. This hasn’t been lost on Whack who decided to drop off a few thoughts about connecting with others authentically instead of chasing after those that seem to have status. 

Although Whack didn’t pen the post herself, she did reshare a text image to her Instagram Story.

“It is important to build true relationships. Let’s stop trying to build relationships with the artist, artist manager, a&rs, execs and the person with the blue check,” she wrote on her Story. “Please understand that the ones with the less followers make sh*t happen everyday. Interns, coordinators, PM’s, glam team, assistants, non senior level people hold a lot of weight.”

Anyone who works as a professional in the industry can double down on the post because often, many artists complain that the general public doesn’t know just how much goes into making a successful performance. After her post was reshared, several of her peers agreed.

Tokyo Toni promised that her daughter wouldn’t take her court loss laying down and PEOPLE reports that they’ve got their hands on new documents where Blac Chyna has challenged the verdict. Chyna filed a $100 million defamation lawsuit against the Kardashian-Jenners, alleging that the famous family did their best to keep her from earning money on the second season of her reality television show, Rob & Chyna.

Several members of the Kardashian-Jenners took to the stand and testified that Chyna was allegedly violent and out of control, and in the end, a judge ruled against the model mogul. Now, PEOPLE reports that Chyna has filed “a peremptory challenge against Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Gregory W. Alarcon” who presided over the case.

Chyna reportedly accused Alarcon of exhibiting “an ‘undeniably hostile and extremely biased’ attitude towards her and [her attorney] Ms. [Lynne] Ciani since April 19 and April 20, 2022.”

“The 33-year-old also believes that Alarcon’s alleged bias impacted several parts of the case, including ‘the jury making ‘key liability verdicts in her favor’ as well as her being ‘denied due process with regard to the jury instructions and special verdict form.'”

The Kardashian-Jenner’s attorney was quick on the draw and in turn, reportedly filed a “20-page opposition” to Chyna’s challenge. He reportedly argued “that Chyna and her attorney ‘nonetheless proceeded without complaint as Judge Alarcon presided over a 10-day trial‘ despite her apparent issues with him.” The lawyer stated that both Chyna and her legal team “had ample time to raise her completely misguided allegations” but instead went forth with the trial. He wants her disqualification tossed out.

Meanwhile, Blac Chyna has another legal hurdle on her hands after a woman claimed that Chyna attacked her at a Los Angeles bar. Chyna is reportedly under investigation.
