Ice Cube Reveals His Favorite Songs: Public Enemy, Nas, DMX, And More

During a recent interview with Capital XTRA, Ice Cube discussed some of his favorite music. He was there to promote his new film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. When the host asked him what some of his favorite hip hop tracks of all time are, Ice Cube revealed that he’s a big fan of material from the late ’80s and ’90s. He made sure to show love to other OGs like Nas, DMX, and more.

The first song on Ice Cube’s list is “Rebel Without a Pause” from Public Enemy’s 1988 album, It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back. He says he goes “bananas” for the song. Next up is “The Show” by Doug E. Fresh. “That still goes crazy,” the artist says of the ’86 Oh, My God! track. He then mentions that DMX’s 1999 hit, “Party Up (Up in Here),” also goes “cray cray.” Ice Cube went on to give a shout out to Nas’ 1999 P. Diddy collab, “Hate Me Now,” before closing the conversation.

Elsewhere in the interview, Ice Cube also discussed voicing the character of Superfly in the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, revealing why he loves to play a “big ugly mutant.” “Playing a villain is great,” he shared, “There are no rules playing a villain so it was just fun to be able to let loose.” He continued, “Superfly is the king of New York, everybody knows his name in the streets. Eagles Players Reveal Their Favorite Rihanna Songs Before Super Bowl

Rihanna bumps heavy on the Philadelphia Eagles playlist these days, and the team’s players recently revealed their favorite songs from her. Moreover, they include classic from both her early days and some of her more recent catalog. Of course, saying “recent” barely means anything in this convo, as her fans have begged her to drop for years. Still, that didn’t hamper excitement for her upcoming Super Bowl halftime show. As such, everyone from casual fans to die-hards and athletes alike are reminiscing on her catalog ahead of the big show.

Furthermore, the Eagles recently clinched their Super Bowl spot in a blowout win against the San Francisco 49ers. Overall, each player chose their fighter when it came to Rihanna’s catalog. Some of the picks include “What’s My Name,” “Umbrella,” “Rude Boy,” “Work,” and “FourFiveSeconds.” However, out of all the tracks, “Umbrella” is the most popular pick amongst the Eagles. Valid pick, though plenty of players also shouted out “What’s My Name.” Also, they sang some of the iconic melodies, shouting “Oh, na na, what’s my name?” and “You can stand under my umbrella (ella, ella, eh eh).”

Still, some players thought they all needed some vocal work. “That’s probably the only song they know and they sounded terrible,” an Eagle remarked. Regardless, their energy was on point, yet probably didn’t match the sheer volume with which people will scream those anthems at the show. In fact, recent reports indicate that RiRi might be bringing the spectacle on the road in a tour. Many people are calling this a “Ri-naissance,” not to be confused with the other in-demand tour by Beyoncé. “She has her North American dates ready to announce for 2023 after the Super Bowl,” a source told The Sun.

“It will be a matter of time before she announces European dates for 2024,” they continued. “[Rihanna’s] plan is to set up mini residencies in major cities rather than visit multiple places.” Do you have a favorite Rihanna song you’d sing your heart out to at her show? Let us know what it is in the comments down below. Also, as always, log back into HNHH for the latest on Rihanna, her Super Bowl halftime show, and what happens to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Tyler, The Creator Reveals His Top 12 Songs Of 2022

Tyler, The Creator is known to be a man of quite eclectic taste. From his vintage car obsession to his collection of unique jewelry, the 31-year-old has never been afraid to show off his style.

His musical inspiration is no different, coming in the form of various different artists and genres.

On Tuesday (December 20), the “See You Again” rapper took to his Twitter account to share his favorite songs of the year. Although, not all of them were actually released in 2022. Some of them dropped last year and in 2020. Obviously, Tyler doesn’t abide by strict rules when creating his lists.

Regardless, his twelve favorite songs of 2022 include a diverse range of genres and only a few rap songs. In order to fit all of his inclusions into the 280-character-limits of a tweet, he obviously had to use some short forms.

Below is an official list of the songs he loved this year:

The Sweet Enoughs – “In Mind”
Charles Stepney – “Around The House”
Pusha T“Neck & Wrist” (feat. JAY Z & Pharrell Williams)
Sol Set – “Pour le Moment”
Dina Ögon – “Tombola 94”
Steve Lacy – “Buttons”
Pharrell Williams – “Cash In Cash Out” (feat. 21 Savage & Tyler, The Creator)
Kendrick Lamar – “Worldwide Steppers”
La’Verne Washington – “I Found What I’ve Been Searching For”
Pearl & The Oysters – “Candy”
Kendrick Lamar – “Savior” (feat. Baby Keem & Sam Dew)

As you can see, the majority of his list consists of genres like alternative, R&B and retro pop. Additionally, he gives himself props for one of his guest verses on his track with Pharrell and 21 Savage, one of only a few he did this year.

Shortly after tweeting his list, a fan quickly replied to inquire about a notably absent song that Tyler expressed his love for earlier in the year: Omar Apollo’s Neptunes-produced “Tamagotchi.”

The IGOR artist subsequently made sure to include it in his list. “DAWG I KNEW IT WAS A SONG I FORGOT WHEN I MADE THIS MENTAL LIST. THE BRIDGE ON THAT IS A 10,” he says.

It’s certainly always interesting to hear what our favorite artists have been listening to and are inspired by.

Finally, what do you think of Tyler’s list? Comment your top three songs of the year down below afterwards. As always, make sure to stay tuned to HNHH for the latest pop culture updates.
