Lil Wayne’s Kids Don’t Stand To Greet Queen Latifah, Social Media Melts Down

Social media has completely melted down after footage emerged of Lil Wayne’s children not standing up to greet Queen Latifah when being introduced to her at a basketball game. X users were livid that Wayne’s children “disrespected” Latifah by remaining in their seats as they shook her hand courtside. For many, especially older people, it was a great sign of rudeness not to stand for someone as legendary as Latifah.

However, many people didn’t see what the big deal was. Some argued that Wayne isn’t going to be someone who teaches etiquette based on his own upbringing. Meanwhile, others argued that this was just social media getting in on business that didn’t concern them. Neither Latifah or Wayne have commented on the “incident”, indicating that they don’t see that any social etiquette rules were broken. What do you think? Is it disrespect or just social media overreacting? Let us know in the comments.

Lil Wayne Taps Ja Morant To Be The Next “Face Of The NBA”

Meanwhile, Wayne spoke on his idea of the NBA’s future in an interview last month. Specifically, Wayne wants to Ja Morant to be the next face of the league. “To me I think the obvious answer is Ja. Because the NBA is entertainment. What I mean by that is there was always a Michael Jordan, just like, you know like God. You gonna watch these Atlanta Hawk games just to see what Dominique, just to see if he gonna get ’em one off. I’m going to watch these Portland games to see if Clyde gonna get him one. Ja’s teams are actually competitive when he’s there and he’s doing his thing,” Wayne told Bleacher Report‘s Taylor Rooks.

It’s not the first time that Wayne has spoken in support of Morant. “Do y’all know that boy? ‘Cause I don’t. I know him from dunking and jumping, and I only started knowing him when I started paying attention to him around his last year of college. He come from like a town with 3,000 people. Like, what? What y’all expect? Y’all gave him $200 million,” Wayne told the All The Smoke podcast while defending Morant’s actions earlier this year.

Benny The Butcher Thinks Rappers Deserve More Respect Than They’re Getting Right Now

Benny The Butcher has been subject to plenty of praise from other rappers in recent years. He’s collaborated with some of the biggest names in the genre and received plenty of high-profile cosigns. But despite all the respect he gets from inside the rap game, he still thinks rappers as a whole are disrespected. He recently stopped by Rap Radar to discuss a variety of subjects, including how rappers as a whole need more respect.

“It’s not a lot of respect on being a rapper right now. Rap gave me a lot. I should be able to say that loud and proud but people try to hate on that,” Benny began the discussion. “A lot of these podcasts, influencers, a lot of these characters, they criticize rap. They got whole platforms to criticize rap in a bad way. Rap is this, rap is that, sh*tting on a rapper. I hate that because we are almost the bar for how people live their lives. You’ll hear somebody say, ‘I’m richer than rappers,’” he continues. In his conclusion, he basically says rappers are living rent free in the heads of their critics. “People want to compare themselves to rappers so bad. They love us so much they hate us.” Check out the full conversation below.

Latto Says Female Rappers Are “Most Disrespected”

Latto and Cardi B had some pretty strong sentiments regarding the way that female rappers are treated. Cardi has always been vocal about the double standards that exist in the hip-hop industry. This is particularly true for female artists. Recently, she took to Twitter to express her thoughts. She said that female rappers face higher expectations in terms of their presentation. Yet, they receive a disproportionate amount of disrespect compared to their male counterparts. In a recent interview with NME, fellow rapper Latto supports Cardi’s comments and agrees with the disparities that exist.

Latto, who hails from Atlanta, echoes Cardi’s sentiments. In her interview, she states, “I definitely agree with that. If you don’t agree with that, you’re ignorant; it’s flat out in our face every day.” She goes on to highlight how female rappers are often required to have dancers. They have to go the extra mile just to be on an equal playing field with male rappers. In contrast, male rappers can simply go on stage in a plain white tee and perform a couple of repetitive moves. Despite facing intense scrutiny and analysis, female rappers still have to work harder for success. Latto emphasizes that the journey to success for female artists is not an overnight process.

Latto And Cardi “Put It On Da Floor”

Three years have passed since Latto was featured on the XXL Freshman list. Still, her hunger for success remains as strong as ever. Her rise to pop stardom was propelled by the success of “Big Energy” over the last year. However, she continues to prove that she can be a versatile artist with each release. Her latest song has also turned out to be a hit. “Put It On Da Floor,” which dropped just a few weeks ago, has taken TikTok by storm.

As the song continues to climb the charts, Latto recently dropped the official remix featuring Cardi B. The two titled the remix “Put It On Da Floor Again.” The track marks Cardi’s first musical offering of 2023. As such, it’s no surprise that fans went wild over it. Cardi comes out swinging on the track, adopting a no-holds-barred mentality as she takes aim at her adversaries and their associates. She and Latto make for a confident, bold duo. What do you think of the pair’s collaboration? Make sure to let us know in the comments!
