Country Artists Beyoncé Should Collaborate With ASAP

As a trailblazing icon in the music industry, Beyoncé’s repertoire spans several different genres. From Pop and R&B to Hip-Hop and beyond, Queen Bey seems to have done it all, and excellently too. Admittedly, throughout her career, one genre Beyoncé rarely explored is country music. However, the two new lead singles from Act II suggest that Queen Bey’s upcoming album is very country, taking the route of her hometown, Texas. 

As expected, fans are beside themselves with excitement as many have wanted more country material from the singer since “Daddy Lessons.” While we wait for March 29, we can’t help but wonder who will be featured on this new project. There’s a large pool of awesome country artists, and there are a few names we hope to see on Act II. If she hasn’t already, here’s a list of country artists we think Beyoncé should collaborate with ASAP.

Mickey Guyton

Known for her soulful vocals, raw emotion, and authenticity, Mickey Guyton is a powerhouse in the country music scene. Her breakthrough single “Better Than You Left Me” (2015) garnered her widespread acclaim. Since then, Guyton has continued to captivate audiences with gems like “Black Like Me” and “Somethin’ Bout You.” In 2021, Guyton released her debut album, Remember Her Name. The project contains a country rendition of the Beyoncé track “If I Were a Boy.” Evidently, the country songstress is a fan of Beyoncé. With Bey currently in her country bag, there’s no better time for Guyton to lock in a song or two with the queen. 

Darius Rucker

Without a doubt, a country collaboration between Beyoncé and the country music legend, Darius Rucker, would be groundbreaking. Rucker, celebrated for his rich baritone and heartfelt storytelling, has been an unstoppable force in country music for over a decade now. Since he became the first Black artist to win the New Artist award at the CMA, he has continued to release timeless music. While we don’t know if it’s something that will ever happen, we are certainly manifesting this collab. Whether it’s a ballad or an uplifting anthem, it would undo;ubtedly be a momentous moment in music history.

Kane Brown

Since he released his debut EP in 2015, Kane Brown has been making waves in the country music scene. Now widely considered a big country star, Brown would make a great musical partner for Beyoncé. The 30-year-old singer is a master of his craft and has recorded many hits. For Kane Brown, the evidence of his musical evidence is all over his catalog. From his self-titled debut album to 2022’s Different Man, he brings the heat every time. That’s why it would be so exciting to see him work with Beyoncé at least once.

The War And Treaty

One of the most interesting duos in country music right now, The War and Treaty is a phenomenal pair. The husband and wife broke into the scene with their debut album Healing Tide in 2018. Since then, they have released two additional albums, including the acclaimed Lover’s Game (2023), which earned them a Best New Artist nod at the 2024 Grammys. It goes without saying that this couple would make groundbreaking country music with Beyoncé if given the chance.

Yola

For those who are familiar with Yola’s music, her name on this list would not be a surprise. Her debut album, Walk Through Fire (2019), garnered critical acclaim, and earned her four Grammy nominations. Likewise, her sophomore album Stand For Myself (2021), earned her two additional nominations. While she is yet to win the prestigious award, the Academy’s recognition is testament to Yola’s musical talents. Showcasing her remarkable vocal range and emotive delivery, she draws listeners in with her blend of soulful melodies, vintage country vibes, and introspective lyrics. Beyoncé, if you can see this, please don’t let this country era pass without collaborating with Yola.

Brittney Spencer

After going viral in 2020 for her cover of The Highwomen’s “Crowded Tables,” Brittney Spencer quickly rose to stardom. In 2020, she released her debut EP, Compassion, and followed with “Sober & Skinny,” one of her biggest songs, in 2021. Subsequently, she dropped her debut album My Stupid Life on January 19, 2024. While some may consider Spencer a greenhorn because of her limited catalog, the singer is a competent artist. Given a chance, she surely would make an unforgettable country song with Beyoncé.

BRELAND

Although he is the youngest on this list, BRELAND is just as deserving as the six aforementioned artists. A visionary, he has an interesting ability to blend country, Hip Hop, and R&B influences. This is clearly heard in songs like “My Truck” and “Natural,” among many others. BRELAND is one of a few artists who could successfully make a fire country rap track with Beyoncé. Certainly, this is a matchup we would love to see in real life.

Tua Tagovailoa Joins Darius Rucker On Stage In Las Vegas for ‘Wagon Wheel’ As Daniel Jones Cheers Him On

Tua Tagovailoa and Darius Rucker became the musical pairing we never knew we needed on Friday night as the Dolphins’ quarterback joined Rucker on stage to play guitar and sing Rucker’s hit “Wagon Wheel”.

Giants’ quarterback Daniel Jones cheered Tagovailoa and Rucker on excitedly as he sang (or lip-synced) along from the Las Vegas crowd.

For Rucker, a longtime Miami Dolphins fan, to bring Tagavailoa on stage was not a surprise. Tagavailoa seemed to know what he was doing on the guitar and sounded just fine imploring the crowd to “rock me mama like the wind and the rain” along with Rucker.

Perhaps the only surprise was that he didn’t bring Tagavailoa up for a rendition of his hit with Hootie and the Blowfish, “I Only Want To Be With You” since its lyrics directly reference the Dolphins. Although maybe Rucker didn’t want the Dolphins’ star quarterback to have to sing about the Dolphins making him cry.

This isn’t Jones’ first time singing “Wagon Wheel”, either, even if it was just from the crowd this time.

There are two kinds of people in this world: those who love “Wagon Wheel” and those who hate it. Jones and Tagovailoa are clearly in the former camp, and Jones had the right idea in attempting Rucker’s sing-a-long hit before he attempted T-Pain.

The rock band was formed in 1986 at the University of South Carolina, where all four of its members were students. The quartet was made up of Darius Rucker, Mark Bryan, Dean Felber, and Brentley Smith. However, Smith left the group after finishing college to focus on other endeavors. Subsequently, he was replaced by Jim Sonefeld, and the group’s lineup has remained the same since then.

Following their record deal with Atlantic Records in 1993, the band released their debut album Cracked Rear View in 1995. It became a massive commercial success and has since sold over 21 million copies in the US. As a result, it’s one of the best-selling albums of all time in the US, precisely the 19th-best-selling album. Subsequently, the album earned them the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1996. In addition, they also won the Grammy for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for their single “Let Her Cry.”

Hootie & the Blowfish continued to release successful albums throughout the late ‘90s and early 2000s. These include Fairweather Johnson (1996), Musical Chairs (1998), and their self-titled fourth album (2003). In 2008, three years after their fifth album Looking For Lucky, the group announced that they’d be going on hiatus. After their break kicked off, Darius Rucker moved on to focus on building a solo career. Hootie & The Blowfish came back together in 2019, releasing their first album in 14 years, Imperfect Circle. Despite their reunion, Rucker pays equal attention to his solo career.

Nelly’s Teamed Up With Darius Rucker, Kane Brown, And More On The ‘Country-Inspired’ Album ‘Heartland’

Nelly is circling the wagons for his new country-influenced album, Heartland, out on August 27. Featuring a slew of collabs, Heartland will include guest appearances from Darius Rucker, Jimmie Allen, Chris Bandi, George Birge, Breland, Blanco Brown, Kane Brown, Florida Georgia Line, Tyler Hubbard, and City Spud, according to an Instagram post from the rapper.

Heartland will also feature Nelly’s track with Florida Georgia Line, “Little Bit,” as well as “High Horse” featuring Blanco Brown and Breland. Have a peek at the tracklist below.

This certainly isn’t Nelly’s first foray into the land of country music: In 2004, he and Tim McGraw released their joint hit “Over and Over.” A few years later, in 2012, Nelly and Florida Georgia Line remixed the duo’s “Cruise.” Talking to Extra TV about Heartland, Nelly stressed that his new record isn’t “a country album,” per se. “I say it’s country-influenced. I love country music. I love the artists. I love them enough not to say I’m doing a country album. But I can do an album that shows how country music has inspired me, how I appreciate the way that the country world has opened their arms to Nelly and shown support.”

Post Malone Covered A Hootie And The Blowfish Classic For His ‘Pokémon’ Partnership

The Pokémon franchise is commemorating its 25th anniversary this year; While Pokémon Red and Blue, the first games released in the US, came out stateside in 1998, the original Japanese games, Red and Green, were released in 1996. Anyway, part of the celebration has included collaborating with Post Malone on a couple things. Malone is performing a virtual concert for Pokémon Day this weekend, but ahead of that, he has released a new cover tied to the partnership: a rendition of the Hootie And The Blowfish classic “Only Wanna Be With You.”

Malone keeps the cover mostly stylistically faithful to the original version, and even though the song doesn’t have any clear preexisting connection to Pokémon, Malone has turned in a fun recording nonetheless. He slightly tweaked the lyrics, shifting the focus of one line from the Miami Dolphins to his favorite NFL team, the Dallas Cowboys, as he sings, “I’m such a baby ’cause the Cowboys make me cry.” Longtime Pokémon fans may have also noticed that the song has a sample from the second-generation Game Boy/Game Boy Color games Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal, specifically the music that plays in Ecruteak City.

Darius Rucker, who of course sang and co-wrote the ’90s classic, is over the moon about Malone’s rendition, tweeting of it this morning, “The smile in my face will not leave for a long time. This is awesome. My bro @PostMalone bringing it. Hell yes man!!!!!!!!!”
