VonOff1700’s “#TurntUpNotBurntUp” Lives Up To It’s Title

VonOff1700 is coming for the throne of Chicago drill king with his newest effort, #TurntUpNotBurntUp. It’s quite the title, but it pretty accurately describes what you’re getting from the Windy City native. However, VonOff wanted to mix things up a little bit too. Throughout the rollout, the 21-year-old promised to deliver more a diverse listening experience and show off his adaptability. “Yall said yall wanted more versatile sht Ian gone lie on here I gave it 🫶🏽” he wrote on his Instagram page.

The Signal Records signee does live up to that by bringing more melodies and more trap-focused production. These switch-ups do lead to satisfying results such as “Out the Window.” VonOff1700 did promote the heck out of #TurntUpNotBurntUp, releasing five singles, with three of them dropping this month. One of those is “Legends” featuring a posthumous chorus from King Von. It specifically comes from his 2022 track “Change My Life,” and even the beat sounds vaguely similar in some respects. It’s causing some controversy online given the subject matter, but it shows that VonOff is looking to emulate those who paved the way for him to some degree. G Herbo Has Some Fun On “Big Swerv” Mixtape

G Herbo has focused on more pressing topics in his music over the last couple of years at times. Because of that, he’s been getting more personal on his records. However, according to HipHopDX, the Chicago drill specialist wanted to do something different this time around. “Not everybody has been in the streets. And not everybody had to experience violence to the levels that I’ve experienced violence. I was always vulnerable and talked about it through my music,” Herbo said about previous efforts. “So I want to talk about having fun, I want to talk about traveling the world, and living life, and fashion, and stuff that everybody loves, that everybody can relate to”. The latter quote from G Herbo is about his newest mixtape, Big Swerv.

You can certainly those looser vibes on songs like “Ten” with Sexyy Red, “Influence”, and “Trim”, for example. The production is still intimidating and dark, so not all of what’s made Herbo over the years is missing entirely. Big Swerv was announced in early August and only had one single released ahead of time. That was “Shoot” with rising MC Skilla Baby. Speaking of features, him and Red are just two. 21 Savage, BabyDrill, fellow Illinois native Chief Keef, and Rob49 are here too. Let us know what you think of G Herbo’s 14-song effort Big Swerv with the links below.

Chief Keef Had A Subtle Message For Kanye West On “Almighty So 2”

Chief Keef is one of the pioneers of Chicago drill music. Overall, he came to prominence in the early 2010s when he was just 16 years old. At the time, he was dealing with a ton of adversity. Gang wars and violence were all around him. However, he was able to make it out of the city and change his life for the better. Now, he is 29 years old and fans are impressed with his growth as an artist. It has been incredible to see where he has come, and on Friday, he dropped off the highly-anticipated album Almighty So 2.

So far, fans agree that there are a ton of bangers throughout this project. One of the songs that fans are enjoying right now is “Drifting Away.” In fact, this song dropped on Thursday and has proven to be one of the best cuts on here. In the song, fans noticed one bar that seemed to be directed at none other than Kanye West. In fact, he says Kanye by name. “Chief Sosa made drill, Kanye think he did too.” While some may debate what this means, it is clear that Chief Keef wants his proper credit for the rise of drill, regardless of Ye hopping on a remix.

Lil Reese Goes Viral For Iced Coffee Recipe

Lil Reese is an artist who helped pioneer the Chicago drill sound. Overall, this was a sound that birthed legends like Chief Keef and even Lil Durk. Unfortunately, it is a subgenre that has also been connected to violence. Reese has been at the center of some of these stories, and his life has been filled with hardships. Thankfully, he is still here to tell his story, and his fans are grateful that he can still make music and excel in his craft. However, it does seem like Reese is looking to make some massive lifestyle changes that will lead to a better quality of life.

We say this because in a new video that has been going viral online, Reese looks incredibly happy and healthy. As you can see down below, he can be seen in the kitchen with a woman, where they are both making some iced coffee. The recipe seems pretty elaborate as he adds all sorts of milk, creamer, and chocolate whipped cream into the mix. Overall, it was just a fun little video that you would see on TikTok. In the grand scheme of things, it is nothing special. However, considering what Reese is most known for, fans were digging the switch up.

FBG Butta Shown Crying During Arrest Footage

A new clip circling online shows a Chicago drill rapper at his lowest in a distressing and tough-to-watch way. Moreover, footage recently emerged of authorities arresting FBG Butta, known for his ties to artists like King Von, FBG Duck, and others in the Chicago drill scene. In the clip, Butta asks what he did wrong, and officers are unable to explain why but are asking him if he has somewhere else to stay. Not only that, but he also laments that this took place as his child was in the room, which makes the situation all the more hard to stomach. It’s unclear what the reasoning and circumstances behind his arrest are, but it clearly blindsided the MC based on what his reaction suggests.

Furthermore, readers may recognize his name from stories circling around the Chicago genre and leaders like King Von, who caught themselves up in a lot of turmoil, criminal accusations, and feuds. For example, Von faced posthumous accusations of snitching on FBG Butta when it came to his role in the murder of Odee Perry. In fact, these claims came straight from Butta himself, who spoke on the situation during an Instagram Live session. In his rant, he spoke on the other members of the FBG crew and seemingly snitched on himself in the process.

FBG Butta Arrest Footage

“He and his brothers told me for slappin’ they homie,” FBG Butta told two others that he was arguing with online during the stream. “Send me the paperwork,” one chat user demanded amid the barrage of messages. “I don’t speak on that s**t, them n***as told on me,” Butta continued. “Them n***as TOLD told! They gave me 192 years for killin’ a motherf***er and I blamed it on my dead sister.”

Meanwhile, King Von’s musical and cultural legacy remains active and discussed, despite the implications surrounding them. These artists may have involved themselves in rough situations, but it doesn’t make their hardship any easier to witness in such a raw way. We’ll see if any more details of this arrest emerge in the near future. With that in mind, keep checking in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on FBG Butta.
