David Njoku Says Accident That Gave Him Full-Face Burns Should Have Blinded Him

David Njoku has opened up about the fire pit accident that left him with full-face burns. “I give all the glory to God. When it happened my eyes were open, so I saw everything and I really should’ve been blinded. Luckily I’m not, so I give all glory to God. All the pain and suffering from training in the offseason is far worse than any of this. Earlier this week, Njoku showed off the extent of the damage caused by the accident. In pictures posted online, Njoku showed that his face was nearly entirely covered with painful burns. Njoku covered his face with a custom medical mask when entering the Browns facility in the first game after the injury, meaning that this was the first time that the extent of his injuries had been seen.

However, Njoku is also putting the unfortunate incident to good use. He has launched a clothing company called Withstand and will be donating a portion of the profits to the American Burn Association. Njoku is currently listed as questionable on the Browns’ injury report. Njoku has fully leaned into the persona the burns have given him. He tweeted “the flesh is weak” when arriving at the Browns facility. Furthermore, he has posted several gifs of the Joker and other Batman villains as part of this commitment to the bit.

Njoku Questionable Against Niners

Njoku was listed as questionable on the latest Browns’ injury report, meaning that there is a chance he could play against the Niners this weekend. He has 138 yards on 16 catches this season as the Browns sit at 2-2. They face a major test this week as they take on the Niners. San Francisco has emrged as one of the best teams in the league this season. The Niners enter the game as overwhelming favorites, per ESPN‘s win probability analytics.

The Browns as a whole have been largely uninspiring in Deshaun Watson’s first full season with the team. The controversial quarterback has less than 1000 years through three games and has only thrown for four touchdowns. Of course, the Browns’ offense was also stymied by the loss of Nick Chubb to a season-ending injury. However, it is especially painful as the Browns do not own their own draft picks this year. Furthermore, they are completely locked into Watson’s massive contract. Watson has been ruled out of the game against the Niners with a shoulder injury.

Minkah Fitzpatrick Defends Nick Chubb Hit

Minkah Fitzpatrick has vehemently defended his hit on Nick Chubb during Monday Night Football The Steelers safety made his first public comments since the game on Thursday. “I’m a guy that is a competitor, that’s going to go out there and play the game. I’m chippy, I’m edgy, of course, but I’m not a dirty player. But I’m not going to sit here and defend my character. I know the type of player I am. Chubb knows the type of player I am. I played against him for the past five years, two times a year. And I love competing against him. He brings the best out of me, and I bring the best out of him. No chance that I would ever try and purposely injure somebody, always. It was an unfortunate event.”

Fitzpatrick hit Chubb during a goalline tackle that went horribly wrong as Chubb suffered a gruesome knee injury. The star running back will miss the rest of the season and will require surgery. “I didn’t see anybody on [the hole]. And I made the decision as soon as I seen the hole open up — and him in the hole — to go low. … It’s a fast game. … You make decisions within milliseconds. You can’t really control what happens after you choose to make your decision. I already chose to go low. Somebody got on his back as I was going low, and what happened, happened; there’s nothing I really would do differently. It’s very unfortunate. Chubb’s a great player. He makes the game a lot better when he’s playing,” Fitzpatrick continued.

Kareem Hunt Rejoins Browns After Chubb Injury

To replace Chubb, the Browns turned to a familiar face – Kareem Hunt. Hunt previously played for the Browns between 2019 and 2022. However, he left the team at the end of the 2022 season. Last month, ESPN and other outlets reported that Hunt had met with a number of teams, including the Saints, but would begin the season teamless.

Originally drafted in 2017 by the Chiefs, Hunt was released after a video of him assaulting a woman emerged online. The Browns signed Hunt ahead of the 2019 season. Over four seasons, Hunt has recorded 1874 yards and 16 touchdowns across 49 games. Per Ourlads, Hunt is listed as the RB2 behind 2022 draft pick Jerome Ford. Ford has 142 yards through the first two games of the season, including 106 against the Steelers. Furthermore, the Browns host the Titans on Sunday night.

Kareem Hunt Re-Signs With The Browns After Nick Chubb Injury

Free agent running back Kareem Hunt has signed a deal reportedly worth $4 million to return to the Cleveland Browns. The move comes after starting running back Nick Chubb was ruled out with a season-ending injury following the Browns’ Monday night loss to the Steelers. Hunt previously played for the Browns between 2019 and 2022. However, he left the team at the end of the 2022 season. Browns Add Hunt As Depth And Security

Despite signing Hunt, the Browns were candid about the fact that there is no replacing Nick Chubb. “You don’t replace Nick Chubb. You just don’t do that. Great players in the league, you look around, they go out. It’s always not one person that replaces a player of [Chubb’s] caliber. So, everybody’s got to do a little bit more, a little bit more everywhere,” head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters. Chubb has 6511 yards and 48 touchdowns since being drafted by the Browns in 2018. He has four Pro Bowl appearances and was named to the All-Pro Second Team in 2022.

While a number of options were available to the Browns when it came to filling out their running back pool, Hunt was their first choice. Sources told ESPN that Hunt’s familiarity with the team and system made him the first primary option when targeting a new back. Hunt had over 1300 rushing yards in his rookie season with the Chiefs. However, he has failed to surpass 1000 yards since and has not hit 500 yards in a season since 2020.

Deshaun Watson Reacts To His Slow Start

Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns were always destined to have a rocky go of things. The circumstances surrounding his signing were dubious, to say the least. Following numerous sexual assault accusations, Watson was signed to a massive contract with the most guaranteed money ever.

Overall, it was a shocking deal, especially since Watson’s legal problems were still ongoing. Regardless, the Browns made their decision and lived with the consequences. Subsequently, Watson was hit with a massive 11-game suspension, and he was only able to return to action two weekends ago.

Deshaun Watson Speaks

If you’ve been watching Watson as of late, you know that he has struggled a bit since returning to action. Of course, this was to be expected, however, some fans are certainly excited about his issues. He’s not liked right now, and other fanbases are looking for any reason to rejoice.

His record is currently 1-1, and he has two interceptions as well as just one touchdown. Furthermore, the one time he did win, it was all because of special teams and Brown’s defense. As one can imagine, Watson is aware of his issues, and recently spoke about his start with 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland.

“I’m not close,” Watson said when asked about achieving his potential. “I want to be better. I’m nowhere near where I want to be and this team is nowhere near where we want to be.”

This weekend, Watson and the Browns will face a huge challenge in the Baltimore Ravens. It won’t be easy, however, the team needs to get into a rhythm. While their playoff hopes are pretty well out of the question this year, they can still build some chemistry for 2023.
