Wiggins made his triumphant return to the team after a 21-game hiatus. A hiatus that involved Wiggins helping care for his ailing father. The returning star looked beyond thrilled to be back on the sidelines Tuesday. However, Wiggins wasn’t the only one excited about his return.
Curry spoke with the media after the 136-125 victory. Among the topics discussed, Curry was asked about his thoughts on the returning Wiggins. The future Hall-of-Famer was open and emotional about what Andrew means to the team. “We understand how much he’s been embraced by our fan base, our organization. You know, that’s the love that you show your own. There’s been a lot of unnecessary conversation around him and the whole situation. You don’t really want to react to everything that goes on on the internet. But, it’s just a matter of embracing him and giving him the space to come back, enjoy basketball again, and enjoy being around us,” Curry told NBC Sports Bay Area.

Wiggins’ return is coming at the perfect time for the Warriors. The team can start to look ahead toward another deep playoff run. The defending NBA Champions are looking to avoid the play-in tournament. As they currently sit in the sixth seed, which is one seed out of the play-in. But Wiggins’ return doesn’t mean the former number-one overall pick will be participating soon. Wiggins was on the sideline Tuesday. However, he wasn’t dressed to play. Head coach Steve Kerr has previously mentioned that Wiggins has stayed active during his absence. However, a timetable for his return to play has yet to be revealed.
