Benny The Butcher has named J. Cole as the best rapper alive. Speaking with HipHopDX, The Butcher says he thinks Cole is putting a claim to the spot.
“It’s a different aura with him, right? He always been a contender but I feel like he’s coming into his own right and standing over it,” Benny said. “You know how Wayne said he’s claiming it? I kinda feel like he’s claiming it right now. And he’s done enough where he could claim it.”
Last month, Benny The Butcher put his name in the best alive conversation by dropping his highly-anticipated album, Everybody Can’t Go, available now on Def Jam Recordings.
Comprising 12 robust tracks, the album weaves tales of authenticity, shares hard-earned insights, and delivers a series of impactful bangers. The raucous “Griselda Express” boasts a powerhouse collaboration with Westside Gunn, Conway The Machine, and Rick Hyde, demonstrating the collective’s prowess. The journey culminates in the introspective “Big Tymers” featuring Peezy, where Benny takes stock of his journey, declaring, “I got it out the mud, how you gonna tell me to be humble?”
