NBA Youngboy’s Ex Jania Reacts To His Arrest, Denies Clout-Chasing

Youngboy Never Broke Again’s life has been highlighted on social media with numerous women showing him off and becoming famous as a result. Jania Meshell is one of those women, blowing up as an influencer following her high-profile relationship with the Baton Rouge rapper. The two have a son together named Kacey, who YB loves to post on his own page.

On Monday night, Youngboy was arrested by the feds and LAPD after attempting to flee on foot. He was caught by a K-9 unit after running away, reportedly being jailed. Many of those closest to the rapper, including his on-off girlfriend Yaya Mayweather, have been reacting to the news with heartbroken posts. Jania has officially weighed in with her thoughts, claiming that only seven people matter in this situation: his kids.

“Idk who tf y’all think y’all playing with but I don’t need to clout chase off my baby daddy,” said Jania on Twitter before seemingly deactivating her page. “There’s a reason I never say his name weird ass people.”

When somebody tried to argue that she is clout chasing by posting the rapper’s son, Jania kindly reminded the fan that Kacey is also her son. “He came out my p***y b*tch,” she responded before concluding. “Only 7 little people really matter right now idgaf about the rest.”

For what it’s worth, Jania really doesn’t talk all that much about NBA Youngboy. For people to come after her for posting her own son is pretty absurd, but it shows that people just want something to be mad at.

Hopefully, Youngboy is freed soon so he can resume his fatherly duties. We’ll keep you posted as more details come out.

Yelawolf Announces Weekly Albums In April

It’s a pretty good time to be a Yelawolf fan right about now. Not only did the versatile Slumerican emcee recently link up with Caskey for their incendiary and sure-to-pass-under-the-radar collab album Blacksheepbut it would appear that was only the tip of the iceberg. Yelawolf recently took to Instagram to reveal his “April Onslaught,” an ambitious endeavor during which four new albums will be released every week of the month.

“YELAWOLF’S APRIL ONSLAUGHT!!!!” details the rapper, in an Instagram announcement post. “A month of back-to-back of releases. A broad scale of styles and inspirations. A montage of records with my friends and family leading to my studio album MUDMOUTH !!” An interesting tidbit, indicating that MUDMOUTH holds the distinction of being a studio album, while the others — titled TURQUOISE TORNADO, SLUMAFIA, and Mile Zero — do not.

In any case, it’s a massive undertaking from the Alabama emcee, who has often garnered praise for his versatility. As recent projects like Blacksheep and Trunk Muzik 3 indicate, his bars are as sharp as they’ve ever been. Yet 2019’s Ghetto Cowboy featured some of his more melodic tracks in recent memory, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see at least one of his projects operating in that territory.

Check out the big reveal below, and look for Turqoise Tornado to land on April 9th, Slumafia on April 16th, Mile Zero on April 23rd, and Mud Mouth on April 30th. For more from Yelawolf, check out our exclusive interview right here.

Saweetie Roasted For “New Car” Amid Quavo Bentley Repo Rumors

Saweetie and Quavo are in the middle of a pretty ugly breakup, dragging one another on social media following their split last week. Over the weekend, the former couple took turns jabbing at one another on Twitter, with Saweetie accusing Quavo of cheating on her and using lavish gifts to appear as though he were a good guy. One of those gifts was a fully customized icy blue Bentley, which was given to Saweetie over the holiday season

There have been reports that Quavo sent a repo man to reclaim ownership of the expensive car, which would have been a very petty move on his part. Sources are stating that those reports were false, but they were out for long enough that the general public started to believe them, running with that narrative. As Saweetie continues to promote her new single “Best Friend” with Doja Cat, the rapper has been giving fans a chance to win a brand new Tesla. As part of the campaign, Saweetie filmed a new video to announce over 5,000,000 entries into the contest, but people were more concerned about the car that the artist was driving herself in the clip.

In the video, which was reshared by DJ Akademiks, Saweetie rolls up in a gold car with a scratch on the door. The model of the car is unclear but some fans are stating that it looks like a Toyota Camry. That’s a significant downgrade from her fully customized Bentley, so fans have started to roast Saweetie for the video in the comments.

“She riding around in a Corolla cuz Quavo got the repo man on her,” wrote the top commenter. “Thats her whip after quavo came and snatched his Bentley back,” added another.

The video is meant to be relatable, inviting fans to share pictures of their own busted cars that they’ll be turning in once they win the Tesla. However, with the Bentley being at the center of Saweetie’s breakup with Quavo, she probably could have seen these kinds of comments coming from a mile away.

San Diego Rapper OG YD Shot & Killed While Driving

Gun violence has been an ongoing battle for Americans as seemingly senseless crimes continue to take place. Last week on March 16th, a hate-motivated shooting took place in Atlanta left 6 Asian women slain. Just yesterday, a mass shooting in Boulder, CO took the lives of ten individuals when a gunman opened fire. San Diego rapper OG YD has also become the victim of gun violence, tragically passing away over the weekend after being shot while driving.

According to ABC10 News San Diego, the rapper and a friend, who was also seriously injured, were driving along Interstate 805 early Saturday morning. Highway Patrol in the state reports the shooting occurred around 2 in the morning just north of Imperial Avenue. The victim was later identified as OG YD.

The graphic video from the scene displays the moment officers attempted to deliver CPR to him as he laid still next to his white Dodge Charger. The female passenger he was riding with can be heard nearby in the video screaming and crying as officers attempted to console her while another bloodied man sits nearby.

One paramedic in the video remarks, “His blood pressure isn’t coming up” as failed CPR attempts continued. OG YD was ultimately declared dead at a hospital nearby.

No suspect has been named in the crime yet at the time of this article’s publication. Anyone with info that could be helpful in catching the perpetrators is asked to call the California Highway Patrol at (858) 650-3600.

Billie Eilish, Michelle Obama, Ariana Grande, And More Sign An Open Letter In Support Of Voting Rights

Today, Michelle Obama and her When We All Vote organization dropped an open letter in support of the For The People Act, which the Congress website says is intended “to expand Americans’ access to the ballot box, reduce the influence of big money in politics, strengthen ethics rules for public servants, and implement other anti-corruption measures for the purpose of fortifying our democracy, and for other purposes.”

A lot of famous people showed their support for Obama’s letter by signing it, and musicians whose names appear on the letter include organization co-chairs Faith Hill, Janelle Monáe, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Selena Gomez; as well as Alicia Keys, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Common, DJ Khaled, Fat Joe, Finneas, Jennifer Lopez, Joe Jonas, John Legend, Kevin Jonas, LL Cool J, Nick Jonas, and The Roots.

The letter begins, “We write to you today as citizens who love this country and care deeply about its future. And right now, the most important thing we can do to protect that future is to rise together in support of the For the People Act currently before the Senate — the most significant piece of legislation to strengthen our democracy since the Civil Rights movement.

Read the full letter below or here.

To the American People:

We write to you today as citizens who love this country and care deeply about its future. And right now, the most important thing we can do to protect that future is to rise together in support of the For the People Act currently before the Senate–the most significant piece of legislation to strengthen our democracy since the Civil Rights movement.

On January 6th, a violent mob laid siege to our nation’s Capitol, determined to overturn the results of a presidential election that their preferred candidate lost. It was a shocking and outrageous assault on our democracy–and a sobering reminder that we can no longer take our system of self-government for granted. In the months since, a new president and vice president were sworn in and some insurrectionists are now facing justice for their roles in that historic day of shame.

Yet we cannot act as if the threat to American democracy has passed.

Already this year, in state houses across the country, more than 250 bills spread across 43 states have been introduced to further weaken our democracy and make it more difficult for Americans to vote. These bills seek to make it harder to register to vote and cast a ballot by limiting early and mail-in voting and setting up more barriers that particularly impact Black, Brown, and young people. Some of these undemocratic measures have already become law, with others surely to follow.

What’s happening is this: After more Americans than ever voted in the last presidential election, some state leaders believe that silencing them is the only way to maintain their grip on power. They’re hoping to choose their voters, rather than the other way around. And if we as Americans stand idly by–if we wait for others to act or we refuse to do so with anything other than clear purpose and full-hearted patriotism–they will succeed.

Our nation was founded on the idea that as citizens, we should be able to determine our nation’s destiny. Generations of Americans have rightly organized, marched, and died to defend that ideal and expand voting and civil rights to women and minorities–a story that continues to this day. Today, the moment calls for us to take up that patriotic call to protect and expand those rights once again. And that’s why we must rally behind the passage of the For the People Act.

This bill is not about choosing one party or one issue over another. It is about commonsense reforms and best practices that make our democracy more open, more fair, and more inclusive. It is about reaffirming our founding principle that we can chart our own course as a nation.

The For the People Act is about moving closer to the America we aspire to be–a land of opportunity where every voice is heard and valued. Among the tremendous progress it promises, this bill will

  • Expand automatic voter registration, adding as many as 50 million people to voter rolls;
  • Expand same-day and online voter registration for federal elections, which are especially important for young people and first-time voters;
  • Allow for pre-registration for 16- and 17-year-olds, so that when they get their driver’s license, they are also registered and ready to vote when they turn 18;
  • Require two weeks of early voting for federal elections, including on the weekends and after work, and increased access to vote-by-mail, so no American has to decide between making their voice heard and earning a living, taking care of their family, or staying safe during a pandemic;
  • Make Election Day a national holiday, making it easier for more Americans to cast a ballot;
  • Restore the right to vote for people with felony convictions, which disproportionately impacts minority communities;
  • Strengthen federal criminal penalties for those who misinform and intimidate people at the polls;
  • Overhaul our campaign finance system to give ordinary Americans a greater voice in the political process and afford a more diverse array of people the opportunity to run; and
  • Ban partisan gerrymandering and discriminatory voter purges.

We applaud the House for passing this bill, and now we urge the Senate to follow suit and do its part to protect our democracy. And if that means eliminating or instituting meaningful reform to the filibuster–a relic of Jim Crow and an arcane chamber rule increasingly abused to create gridlock and forestall progress–the Senate should act. We cannot continue to allow the will of the majority of Americans to be overshadowed by an oppositional few fixated on maintaining power. Because make no mistake, as a recent poll showed, large majorities of Americans support this bill across party lines–including more than half of Republican voters.

So today we call on Americans of conscience and goodwill to join us in taking a stand for voting rights and to put the power more firmly in the hands of the people. We urge every American to remember how it felt to watch as our Capitol was desecrated earlier this year–and to channel that outrage into patriotic duty.

We are asking you to join us by calling on your Senators to pass the For the People Act immediately–you can join our efforts right now at http://www.WhenWeAllVote.org.

Just as those who came before us turned the crack of a baton or the spray of a firehose into a Voting Rights Act; just as those who turned literacy tests, poll taxes, and other forms of discrimination into organized, concrete, and hopeful action on behalf of their votes, we too can make our mark on history. We too can right wrongs in our time and pave the way for those who come after us.

We can do so much better as a country. But we’ll never be able to do it alone. Now is our best chance to protect and strengthen our democracy and put power back where it belongs–with the people. We ask you to stand with us.

With hope,

When We All Vote Co-Chairs, Ambassadors and Supporters.”

Migos & DJ Khaled Connect In The Studio

DJ Khaled and Migos share a common bond, in that both are currently engaged in varying stages of album modeFor Khaled, who has been steadily building anticipation for his twelfth studio album Khaled Khaled, previously established patterns point to a summer release. In the case of Migos, the Atlanta trifecta have already teased a late March/early April release window for their upcoming Culture 3. Now, it’s looking like both parties have decided to join forces, having linked in the studio for a late-game collaboration.

Johnny Nunez/BET/Getty Images

DJ Khaled recently shared footage of his recent studio session with Migos, with whom he has worked on songs like “No Brainer” with Quavo and the Culture titular introduction. While the affable mogul tends to be relatively open about his collaborators, seldom does he share snippets of the songs in question. Here is no exception, though he does provide a few seconds’ worth of celebratory air horning, as well as a confident validation that the song they whipped up is an unquestionable “hit.”

Still, it’s worth noting that Migos will be appearing on the upcoming Khaled Khaled project whenever that winds up dropping. Curious parties can check out some of Khaled’s posts below, and keep a watchful eye for further updates on the new projects from Migos and DJ Khaled.

Lil Nas X Flirts With Jack Harlow On TikTok

Lil Nas X has grown a following of millions on social media, proving to be one of the most relatable young celebrities to Generation-Z. During the leadup to his upcoming single “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)”, which comes out on Friday, the 21-year-old recording artist has uploaded dozens of hilarious videos to his TikTok page using the unreleased song as a sound. While the last few weeks have primarily been focused on building hype for the upcoming release, Lil Nas took a break from flooding the airwaves with his namesake single to play around with fellow star Jack Harlow, who similarly has been promoting his latest single “Already Best Friends” featuring Chris Brown.

JT Says City Girls Haven’t Released Music Since Last Summer Because She’s “Scared”

City Girls released their well-received second studio album City on Lock last summer featuring guest appearances from the likes of Lil Baby, Doja Cat, Lil Durk, and more. Since then, the Miami-bred rap duo has slowed the pace on solo new material and has instead been focused on hopping on fellow artists’ tracks to lay down a few verses. Explaining to fans why this is the case, half of the duo JT expressed her anxiety about future releases on social media.

Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images for BET

“I miss us dropping music it seems like we have cause of remixes but we haven’t had a single since June last year, wow!!!” typed the 28-year-old rapper, who had been linked with Lil Uzi Vert since last year, officially making their social media debut as a couple a few weeks ago.

She continued, “I just be scared,” with a crying face emoji. While the group’s fanbase would likely support anything their fave’s release, there is always a sense of fear associated with the process when you’re an artist sharing your product.

Some fans took the opportunity to vocalize their desire to see a collaboration between JT and her new beau Lil Uzi Vert. She recently fired back at fans who complained about the amount of PDA her and Uzi were displaying all over social media.

“Nah it was better when y’all felt like he was playing me & y’all was laughing now he loving me in y’all face & it annoys b*tches like you!” JT replied to a fan.

“The ones who can’t keep or get sh*t from a n*gga so y’all hate to see the next b*tch with it & happy!” JT added, “Mc chicken coochie Twitter always say ppl doing too much posting THEY sh*t, it’s my account, my content. If you uncomfortable unfollow me.”
