It’s been a long time since the New York Knicks were in the playoffs, 2013 to be exact. During that playoff run, the Knicks were able to win a playoff round before being ousted by the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. Since that time, Knicks fans have been waiting for something to cheer about and in 2021, they were given just that.

The Knicks are currently the fourth-seed in the East and they have home-court advantage on the Atlanta Hawks. Last night, the Knicks needed to win if they wanted to tie the series at 1-1, and that is exactly what they did as the whole team came together and put on a massive second-half performance.

As one could imagine, Knicks fans were ecstatic about the win and they ended up celebrating by taking to the streets of New York and holding a huge rally that blocked traffic. The scene was as if the Knicks had just gone to the Finals or better yet, had won the championship. The fact that the team had just won Game Two of the first round of the NBA Playoffs, truly made this scene unique, and somewhat obnoxious for those outside of New York. 

Knicks fans don’t care about these outside opinions, and rightfully so. They’ve suffered enough over the last decade and last night’s win is a symbol of hope for a franchise that has otherwise been hopeless for so many years.

Rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again is confirmed to still be alive and well after a troubling rumor started circulating from Facebook. Somebody began circulating the false news that the Baton Rouge-based rapper was found dead inside of his jail cell, however, law enforcement sources have confirmed that Youngboy is still alive.

According to USA Today, the report stems from a Facebook user who shared a screenshot that said: “The worlds biggest artist NBA YOUNGBOY who’s real name is Kentrell DeSeaun Gaulden was found dead in his cell earlier today.” The post was shared on May 19 and started picking up traction this week.

Greg Moroux, chief legal counsel at St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, told USA Today that the rumor is completely false. As of this publication, Youngboy remains locked up at the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center, where he has been incarcerated since last month. He was arrested in April after fleeing from police. The rapper has an outstanding warrant for his arrest from a previous incident in September 2020.

Throughout the last few weeks, fans have heard from Youngboy through a series of letters he has written from his jail cell. The rapper also wrote a lengthy note for his girlfriend, who is presently expecting the rapper’s eighth child. At midnight, Youngboy has a new song coming out with Rod Wave as part of Kawhi Leonard’s upcoming music project.

With the NBA playoffs in full swing, fans have been acting a bit different lately, and we don’t exactly mean that in a good way. For instance, Russell Westbrook was showered in popcorn last night while coming out of the game with an injury. It was an extremely disrespectful move and people like LeBron James are now speaking out against the fans in question.

While the popcorn incident was disgusting, the more egregious fan interaction happened during the Knicks and Hawks game. In the clip below, a Knicks fan actually spat at Trae Young, unbeknownst to the Hawks star. After the game, Young laughed off the incident, as he noted that 50 Cent was in the direct vicinity of the loogie.

The Knicks came out and condemned the fan for their conduct. In fact, the franchise has banned the fan from MSG on an indefinite basis. “We apologize to Trae and the entire Atlanta Hawks organization for this fan’s behavior. This was completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our venue. We have turned the information over to the appropriate authorities,” the team said in a statement.

Knicks fans also chanted “Trae is balding” throughout the game although this is on the more harmless side of things. Regardless, fans have been acting out of pocket as of late, and it’s certainly not going to fly with the players, moving forward.

New York Knicks fans have been starving for a very long time. The franchise has been terrible for a while now although this year has seen a massive change of fortunes. The team has been firing on all cylinders and they even secured the fourth seed in the NBA playoffs. Now, they are going up against the Atlanta Hawks and they even have home-court advantage. Last night, the Knicks tied the series up at one game apiece and to kick things off, they made sure to get in the head of Hawks star Trae Young.

In the Instagram posts below, you can see that Knicks fans were taunting Young and even chanted “Trae is balding.” This phrase was actually handed out in the form of a pamphlet prior to the game, which just goes to show how this was all a coordinated effort to get Trae off of his game.

Despite the Knicks’ win, Young still played great throughout the match as he scored 30 points. Needless to say, the taunts didn’t get to him, although the MSG energy was enough to give the hometown team an advantage in Game Two.

Now, the series is about to head to Atlanta, where Young and his teammates will try to escape with a 3-1 series lead.

John Davis, known for being one of the real singing voices used for the infamous duo Milli Vanilli, has died from COVID-19, as revealed by his daughter Jasmin Davis in a Facebook post. Davis was 66 when he passed away on May 24th. His daughter’s post read, “He gave so much to the world! Please give him the last round of applause. We will miss him dearly.”

Fab Morvan, the only surviving member of Milli Vanilli, shared his condolences to the voice who helped launch him into fame. He made sure to remind his followers of Davis’ talent and vocal abilities and added a Milli Vanilli song to emphasize John’s role in the R&B group. In the past, Morvan and Davis had done various appearances and performances together, showing their friendship through the years since the duo was outed for not using their own voices.

Milli Vanilli consisted of Morvan and his now-deceased counterpart, Rob Pilatus. The duo was formed in 1988 in Munich, Germany. They achieved international success with their debut album and even won a Grammy in 1990 for Best New Artist. However, the Academy revoked the Grammy when the duo were caught lip-syncing, and it was revealed that they didn’t actually sing on their own records– despite the fact that they were real singers themselves. After the downfall of Milli Vanilli, Davis attempted to form a group of his own with another one of the singers behind the original duo, but ultimately he didn’t find success in so doing.

It’s that time of the year again. After hosting a virtual show last year, the 2021 BET Awards will be held in front of a live audience. As we celebrate Black excellence in the music and entertainment industries, the network has officially revealed their nominations for this year.

Next month’s ceremony will mark a huge night in the careers of so many of our favorite established and up-and-coming artists careers. This year, two of the industry’s hottest stars, Megan Thee Stallion and DaBaby, have the highest number of chances to walk away with a trophy, each getting seven nominations. Drake and Cardi B aren’t too far behind, earning five nominations at this year’s celebration.

Anderson .Paak, Bruno Mars, Chloe x Halle, and Chris Brown will also have big nights, being nominated in four categories.
