Trick Daddy Hasn’t Paid Bankruptcy, May Have Case Dismissed: Report

That Beyoncé backlash isn’t the only controversy haunting Trick Daddy. For the last 24 hours, the Florida music icon has been taking some heavy hits from the BeyHive after he asserted that Beyoncé can’t sing. He later cleaned things up to say that she could carry a tune but wasn’t comparable to Adele or Whitney Houston, but it wasn’t only Beyoncé who found themselves as a target. Trick also had a few opinions to share about Jay-Z, noting that no one really bestowed the rapper with the “Greatest of New York” title, but it was something passed along to Hov after Biggie died.

While Trick Daddy’s comments have caused music fans to weigh in heavily, Radar Online reports that the Love & Hip Hop star continues to battle things out in bankruptcy court.

The news outlet reported that they took a look at court documents that allegedly state Trick Daddy is accused of “failing to make his required payments” to the trustee in his bankruptcy case. Back in 2019, Trick filed for bankruptcy after reportedly claiming he was unable to settle his $800K debts.

“His assets included his Florida home worth $350,000, $1,500 worth of household goods and clothing valued at $100. He told the court he had nothing in his checking account. His debts included $435k owed on the home, $12k in homeowners fees and $60k in back child support,” the outlet stated. There is also reportedly an outstanding $300K debt to the IRS.

Trick Daddy is said to have been on a five-year repayment plan with his trustee but due to his alleged failure to pay monthly, the trustee wants the bankruptcy to be dismissed. He reportedly owes over $22K and has until July 2 to pay in full or his case will be tossed out, and if that occurs, Trick Daddy will have to be responsible for the initial $800K debt without “protection from the court when it comes to collections.”

The Music World Reacts To Britney Spears Calling For The Termination Of Her Conservatorship

On Wednesday, the music world turned their attention to the latest hearing in Britney Spears’ conservatorship trial, where the pop sensation pled for her freedom, asking a judge to terminate the court-ordered arrangement. “I am traumatized. I’m not happy, I can’t sleep. I’m so angry I’m insane,” she told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny. “It’s my wish and my dream for this to end.” Britney also detailed how restrictive the conservatorship has become on her life.

“All I want is to own my money … and for this to end … and for my boyfriend to be able to fucking drive me in his car,” she added. “And honestly … I want to be able to sue my family … I have an IUD in my body right now that won’t let me have a baby and my conservators won’t let me go to the doctor to take it out. I wanna be able to get married and have a baby.”

After hearing the singer speak, a number of acts from the music world hopped on Twitter to express their support for Britney. In a pair of tweets, Halsey wrote, “I admire her courage speaking up for herself today.” Mariah Carey chimed in with her own words of encouragement, writing, “We love you Britney!!! Stay strong [heart emojis].”

Justin Timberlake Supports Britney Spears: “What’s Happening To Her Is Just Not Right”

After delivering an impassioned account of what she’s been dealing with over the past decade under her conservatorship, the internet has been lit up with talk about Britney Spears. Tens of thousands of responses have flooded Twitter alone, and those reactions include words of support from people like Mariah Carey, Halsey, Khloé Kardashian, and Spears’s most famous ex, Justin Timberlake.

The two dated when they were just teens taking the world by storm as international pop stars, and although there have been rumors about the animosity between the two back in the day, Timberlake appeared on social media a little over an hour ago to lend his voice of support to Spears.

“After what we saw today, we should all be supporting Britney at this time,” wrote the singer. “Regardless of our past, good and bad, and no matter how long ago it was… what’s happening to her is just not right.”

“No woman should ever be restricted from making decisions about her own body,” Timberlake continued. “No one should EVER be held against their will… or ever have to ask permission to access everything they’ve worked so hard for. Jess and I send our love, and our absolute support to Britney during this time. We hope the courts, and her family make this right and let her live however she wants to live.”

During her hearing today (June 23), Spears reportedly told a judge that she is “traumatized” after being under her conservatorship, she isn’t happy, she hasn’t spoken up in court because she feared that the judge wasn’t listening and didn’t believe her complaints, she wants to control her life and body, and she has been begging to get married and start a family but her conservators won’t let her wed or remove her IUD birth control because they don’t want her to have kids.

Peter Rosenberg Recalls Jim Jones “[Scaring] Me Straight” After Criticizing Rapper

At the top of the month, Hot 97‘s Peter Rosenberg shared his labor of love, Real Late. The project is stacked with heavy-hitters including Raekwon, Method Man, Styles P, Westside Gunn, Smoke DZA, and Jim Jones, and in a recent interview, Rosenberg was asked about a few bars that Jones spit on the album.

“I believe the direct bar is ‘Ask Rosenberg about our very first encounter / He was talkin’ slick sh*t it couldn’ve been his worst encounter,'” Rosenberg began. “Basically, what happened was, I got to New York in ’07 and MTV did a ‘Top Ten MC’ list at that time and Jim Jones was on it.”

“And Cipha Sounds and I were doing our early morning weekend show at that time,” he continued. “And I was just not used to the fact that anyone heard what I said ’cause being in D.C., you could kinda say what you wanted. No one was paying attention to what I said. And then I was not used to the fact that if you just jump out and give an opinion like, ‘Why is Jim Jones on this list? That’s trash!’ I did not realize like, ‘Oh, he might be listening himself.’ And that’s exactly what happened.”

Rosenberg said Jones called up the radio station and was ready for a confrontation. “He scared me straight and it was a good lesson,” he added. “I’m kinda grateful I learned it at that time because it could’ve been so much worse.” It was then that Rosenberg learned that things not only work differently in New York City, but things change when someone has a certain level of visibility, as well. He added that he’s been cool with Jones for a “very long time” and they have repeatedly worked together over the years.

Sony Music Acquires Stake In Todd Moscowitz’s Alamo Records

Alamo Records will now live under Sony Music Entertainment after it was announced on Tuesday that the company has acquired a majority stake in the label founded by Todd Moscowitz, a music industry veteran and former Warner Bros. Records executive. Alamo is home to some very popular artists in the hip-hop world – the likes of Rod Wave, Lil Durk, Smokepurpp, Lil Gotit and blackbear are all signed to the label.

The label imprint, founded in 2016, was formerly in a joint venture partnership with Universal Music Group, but now leaves them for a new partnership with Sony Music. Variety reports that there was a buy/sell negotiation with Universal in the months leading up to this announcement but they decided to walk away, giving Sony the perfect avenue to step in and acquire their stake. The deal is said to be valued at around $250 million, half of which would go to Universal as a buyout.

Moscowitz will remain in his position as the label’s CEO, and Alamo’s roster and catalog will become a creative center of partnership within Sony Music. Some of the label’s artists have seen tremendous success over the past year, as Rod Wave and Lil Durk have both put out albums that have reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this year alone with SoulFly and The Voice of the Heroes respectively. Alamo will continue to sign, develop and market its artists under Moscowitz.

“I decided to partner with Sony Music because Rob and the team showed their deep understanding of entrepreneurship. Being competitive in this marketplace requires being fluid, fast and innovative and I have tremendous confidence that Alamo and our artists will get the support from Sony Music to take our entire company to the next level” Moscowitz said of the deal with Sony Music.

Chris Brown Explains Why He Doesn’t “Address Bullsh*t”

If you’re waiting for Chris Brown to make some lengthy statement about his latest controversy, you may be watching the clock for a while. The singer was recently named in a police report following an alleged altercation that occurred last weekend at his home in Southern California. Brown is known for his shindigs as his palatial estate, but this time a woman claimed that she was assaulted on his property.

We previously reported on the unnamed woman calling the authorities after she said Brown slapped her in the head so hard that he weave flew off. It was a headline that caused the masses to laugh, but some recalled Brown’s past legal troubles with allegations of domestic violence. As the public awaits news as to whether or not this will develop into more serious charges for the singer, Brown has taken to his Instagram Story to share a thought.

Scooter Braun Says Taylor Swift “Refused” To Sit Down With Him Over Fight About Masters

Two years ago, a line was drawn between Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun after he purchased Big Machine. Included in the mega-deal were the rights to Swift’s master recordings of her first six studio albums, and what followed was an unleashing of the singer’s fans who slammed Braun. Swift accused him of not even “[quoting] my team a price” so she could buy them back and stated that Braun attempted to edge her into signing a non-disclosure agreement that would “silence me forever.”

In 2020, Braun alleviated himself of the drama and sold off Swift’s assets to Shamrock for $300 million, and all the while, Swift has been recreating her albums as restrictions to rerecordings expire. In a recent interview with Variety, Braun spoke openly about the ongoing spat with Swift and seemed despondent about how it all played out.

“I regret and it makes me sad that Taylor had that reaction to the deal,” said Bruan. “All of what happened has been very confusing and not based on anything factual. I don’t know what story she was told. I asked for her to sit down with me several times, but she refused. I offered to sell her the catalog back and went under NDA, but her team refused. It all seems very unfortunate. Open communication is important and can lead to understanding. She and I only met briefly three or four times in the past, and all our interactions were really friendly and kind. I find her to be an incredibly talented artist and wish her nothing but the best.”

“The thing that struck me the worst is the word ‘bully,‘” he added. “I’m firmly against anyone ever being bullied. I always try to lead with appreciation and understanding. The one thing I’m proudest of in that moment was that my artists and team stood by me. They know my character and my truth. That meant a lot to me. In the long run, I’m happy for my life’s work to be the legacy I leave behind.”

This controversy has sparked additional conversations about artists owning their own masters and once they do, using them to their benefit.
