No Refills
On Monday, Dec. 18, Ari Lennox expressed her excitement and gratitude, acknowledging the immense support she has received from her fans throughout her journey. In a heartfelt message, the “Pressure” singer shared the story of her battle with alcohol addiction and how she finally found the strength to break free.
Rude Awakening
Ari Lennox began by reflecting on her past reliance on alcohol to cope with her fear of flying. She recounted a particularly alarming incident at the airport, stating:
“It was 7 am and I poured me a full glass of Chardonnay in preparation for my connecting flights. I just finished attending an award show the night before. You see, drinking was my ritual to combat my immense fear of flying. I got to LAX and I drank another glass of wine at an Irish pub. Then I helped myself to some more wine on the plane. Then I landed in beautiful Detroit. I was so hammered that I didn’t even check to see what time my next flight was (Thank God) I got me another humongous glass of wine.”
She continued her horrifying experience, stating:
“I wandered off into a seemingly empty area of the airport. In my cute jacket and bag, I blacked out sitting at a counter height bistro table. Completely by myself and vulnerable. I woke up extremely unwell, clothes TAINTED @ with EMTs surrounding me, worrying about what I might’ve taken. I told them just alcohol. “Just alcohol” could’ve killed me. I had many guardian angels watching over me that day. Thank God there was nobody filming (I pray and hope 99) it was pretty divine. Those beautiful EMT employees were angels. They wheeled me to a wonderful hotel in the airport. My headache was excruciating. I woke up the next morning to catch my rescheduled flight and got drunk again.”
She continued with:
“ While there are many crazy nights like this, I’II keep them to myself @ I decided December 18th 2022, would be the day I got clean. You know what I realized after 1 year of many sober flights? I never needed alcohol to get through the flight. I thought I needed alcohol to escape my reality and to cope. I needed an excuse to drink and not feel the pain of every day life and trauma. It was my numbing vacation to avoid my purpose and my truth.”
