Former Chicago Bulls Star Arrested On Weapons Charge

A former Chicago Bulls star has once again made headlines for the wrong reasons. On Tuesday, Ben Gordon was arrested after reports of “a male acting aggressively and in a bizarre manner” inside of a business in Connecticut. The police subdued Gordon shortly after arriving on the scene. That is when the officers found weapons on Gordon. It has been a tough year for the former Chicago guard. Tuesday’s arrest is the third time in a year that Gordon has been arrested.

Gordon was an instant star for the Bulls. A team who, at the time, was seeking an identity as a franchise. Gordon was part of a stacked backcourt in Chicago. The former UCONN Husky played alongside Kirk Henrich and last played for the team in 2004. Gordon spent eleven seasons in the NBA. Playing for Chicago, Detroit, Charlotte, and Orlando. His last appearance in the NBA was in the 2014-15 season with the Magic. According to the Associated Press report, the incident on Tuesday happened on Gordon’s 40th birthday.

The AP stated, “Gordon was charged with punching his son at New York’s LaGuardia Airport in October. In November, he was charged with a misdemeanor in Chicago for allegedly punching a McDonald’s security guard.”

The situation with Gordon is heartbreaking to follow. The Chicago Bulls was the perfect place for Gordon to begin his NBA career. Gordon was known as a great scorer during his time in the league. During the 2006-07 season, Gordon posted his greatest scoring year. The former NBA veteran averaged nearly 22 points that season. Gordon has made no statement since the alleged incident.
