It’s no secret that Aaron Rodgers is ready to move on from Green Bay. The Packers quarterback has stated his intentions to play for the New York Jets this coming season. While it seems both sides are ready to move on, nothing has yet to materialize. The season is still a few months away. However, it feels as if everyone involved is becoming impatient with the situation. The Jets and Packers would like to have their quarterback rooms ready before training camp. Nonetheless, the Packers could be letting this sit just out of spite.
The marriage between the Packers and Rodgers has been on the rocks for some time. Rodgers has had complaints about the team not drafting receivers early in the draft. Whereas the Packers have been frustrated with Rodgers’ recent playoff performances. Additionally, with the recent selection of QB Jordan Love, it feels the Packers have been ready to move on. While there seem to be a few moving parts before a deal can be set in stone. NBC Sports Peter King believes we finally have a date for the Rodgers-Packers finale.
Aaron Rodgers Heading To New York Is Inevitable
King is reporting what he believes will be the time frame fans will finally see the big deal be done. “I think the over/under date for the Aaron Rodgers trade is early evening April 28,” King wrote. “That’s when the second round of the NFL Draft begins. That’s when the first of likely two or three draft choices to be exchanged would happen. The Jets have the 11th and 12th picks in round two, 42nd and 43rd overall, and I’d bet one of those picks will be the key to this trade getting done.”
It looks as if fans will have to wait until the NFL Draft to see Rodgers in New York. The Packers have the opportunity to hold out for more draft capital. A great business decision for a team looking to rebuild. The Packers will more than likely be handing the offense over to an unproven Jordan Love. Just as they did a few years back for a quarterback named Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers’s time in Green Bay has come full circle. Now we wait to see another legendary Packers QB in a Jets uniform. Do you think the deal will go down during the draft? Should the Packers wait and see if New York becomes desperate? Sound off in the comment section below.
