Latto set the record straight following reports that she entered a program to dismiss her gun charges. The Atlanta star took to Twitter where she called “cap” on TMZ’s claims that she’s almost done a 1-year program as part of a deal to have her charges dropped. “Idk who put out that false ass information cause I’m not in no damn program,” Latto said. “Also the situation happened over a year ago & y’all never even knew until I mentioned it in the Boom pt 2 verse. Nun to ‘brag’ about. Leave me alone.”
In May 2021, police hit Latto with two charges, carrying a loaded firearm and carrying a concealed firearm. The reports claimed that Latto struck a deal that would drop the gun charges under certain conditions. The report claims she had to complete a gun safety course – which they claimed she entered in April 2022 –, perform 120 hours of community service, and refrain from being near any firearms. TMZ said that she has a court hearing in April. At this point, a judge will decide whether or not they will dismiss the firearms.
Latto Explains Gun Charge
The rapper’s gun charges really only came to light when she jumped on Mello Buckzz’s single, “Boom Pt 2.” The brief mention of the gun charge spurred curiosity among fans, who inquired about the backstory of her bar afterward. “Went to LAX w a loaded glock 17 in my Birk got locked & let out in a few hours,” she wrote on Twitter. “lmaooo booked a $75k jet to my show in Alabama & still made it on time! no cap in my rap TUH.
Latto’s previous run-ins with the law also made headlines recently. A few years ago, she recalled the time when she dealt with a bout of mistaken identity that left her behind bars for a few days. The “Big Energy” rapper spent three days in an Atlanta jail before a judge dismissed her and confirmed there was no warrant for her arrest. “I was profiled for ‘looking like’ sum bitch that robbed a n***a… I’m not no robber man,” she explained. “Jail is NOT for me btw.” We will keep you posted on any more information surrounding Latto’s gun case.
