On Friday (July 12), Marvel Studios unveiled the hot new teaser for “Captain America: Brave New World.” This franchise restarter or sequel, depending how you look at it marks lead Anthony Mackie’s debut as Sam Wilson in his first standalone film as the iconic hero.

If you’re a Harrison Ford fan, the Star Wars icon, makes his entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, a role previously held by the late William Hurt. Ross, known for his relentless pursuit of the Hulk, has now ascended to the Presidency of the United States. Sounds fun for Ford. Excited he’s in the MCU.

Onto the teaser … Ross proposes to Sam, “You and I haven’t always agreed in the past. But I wanna make another run at making Captain America an official military position.” Sam queries the potential conflicts, asking, “And if we disagree on how to manage a situation, then what happens?” Ross sidesteps the question, urging, “Work with me, Sam.” He later hints at a darker agenda, saying, “We’ll show the world a better way forward.”

Isaiah Bradley (portrayed by Carl Lumbly), last seen in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” as a Black soldier transformed into a super soldier decades ago, makes a dramatic return, attempting to assassinate Ross. Additionally, Giancarlo Esposito’s character, a gun-wielding antagonist, features pretty prevalently in the teaser.

Get this, Sam issues a stark warning to Ross: “Sir, your inner circle has been compromised. Either you can’t see that, or you don’t want to.”

If you recall, Tim Blake Nelson from the franchise, he reprises his role as Samuel Sterns from 2008’s “The Incredible Hulk,” cautioning, “Global power is shifting. You’re just a pawn.”

The action gets intense in the teased scenes, including Sam battling heavily armed foes and partial destruction of the White House, Ross confronts Sam, declaring, “You may be Captain America, but you’re not Steve Rogers.” Sam affirms, “You’re right, I’m not.”

The mini trailer hits its climax, with some cool aerial combat, featuring Sam alongside Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez), who has taken up the Falcon mantle. The final shot teases the emergence of Red Hulk, Ross’ formidable alter-ego, as he hurls Cap’s shield into the ground.

Get ready “Captain America: Brave New World” is set to hit theaters on February 14, 2025.
