Kehlani’s Newfound Romance Altars Her Sleep In The Dreamy Video For ‘Up At Night’

Kehlani has never been one to make her fans wait too long for a new project from her. That’s evident through her latest project Blue Water Road, which arrives just two years after her sophomore effort It Was Good Until Wasn’t was released. Blue Water Road dropped with 13 songs and features from Blxst, Syd, Justin Bieber, Jessie Reyez, Ambre, and Thundercat. So far, Kehlani has shared videos for “Altar” and “Everything” from the project, with the latter coming when the project was released. Now, she adds a third one to the mix with a visual for “Up At Night.”

The new video kicks off with Kehlani asking her Google-powered speaker to play her sleep playlist. “Up At Night” soon roars in the background and Kehlani hops into bed to fall asleep. With that, we enter the singer’s mind which is filled with vibrant colors, elegant dance moves, sparkly diamonds, and more, which are all brought forth by her feelings towards a newfound romance.

During a recent Apple Music interview, Kehlani revealed that many of the songs on Blue Water Road were initially records for a deluxe version of It Was Good Until Wasn’t. However, she says she mentally “wasn’t in the deluxe of my last album” due to a unique experience at the location of where the music was recorded, and thus, Blue Water Road was born.

You can check out the visual for “Up At Night” in the video above.

Blue Water Road is out now via TSNMI/Atlantic Records. You can stream it here.

Kehlani is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Kim Kardashian Would Marry Again: “Fourth Time’s The Charm!”

With three failed marriages under her belt, many would believe that Kim Kardashian would be done with walking down the aisle. However, Kardashian is a believer in true love and hasn’t edged out the possibility of giving marriage another go. Several of Kardashian’s relationships have been front-page headlines as the famed reality television mogul’s every move is often scrutinized. Most recently, the dramatic unraveling of her relationship with Kanye West took over social media, but they seem to be quietly co-parenting behind the scenes.

Kardashian’s first marriage came in 2000 when she wed Danny Thomas, but the pair would split four years later.

In 2011, Kardashian’s highly-publicized marriage to Kris Humphries was the talk of pop culture, especially after they announced their split 72 days after exchanging “I dos.” She would go on to marry West in 2014.

On her new with The Kardashians, Kim spoke about the possibility of being married once again. “I believe in love,” she said in a clip. “That’s why hopefully there will be just one more wedding for me. Fourth time’s the charm!” She also mentioned her sister Kourtney Kardashian’s engagement to rocker Travis Barker, adding that she doesn’t believe that they will wait too long before tying the knot.

All of this talk about marriages has many believing that Kim and boyfriend Pete Davidson may be in it for the long haul. There was a recent controversy regarding whether or not Davidson received a tattoo of Kim’s kids’ initials, which isn’t farfetched considering she confirmed he has tattoos dedicated to her.

“It’s a journey. I remember when I first got married, I hit a little bit of an emotional breakdown because I thought marriage was going to fix all my problems and it didn’t,” Bieber said. “It just kind of was a reflection of like, man, you’re a bit of a hypocrite man.”

“You want your wife to do something that you’re not doing and it’s like, it’s hard sometimes to look in the mirror and really have to realize, man, maybe you’re not the person that you necessarily thought that you were,” he added “And that’s just a result of trauma and life circumstances.”

The ultra-religious entertainer went on to speak about how his faith has helped him through his toughest times. The full interview will be available on Apple Music this Thursday.

Will Smith’s “This Joka” Series Canceled By Roku: Report

Another Will Smith project has reportedly received the ax, but according to reports, it has nothing to do with the recent Oscars incident. Ever since the world witnessed Smith walk upon the Academy Awards stage and slap Chris Rock, the beloved actor has been met with a wave of backlash. Not only has he endured public, global scrutiny, but Smith has also been subjected to harsh criticisms from his entertainment peers.

Although he nor Rock have formally come forward with in-depth discussions about what occurred on the Oscars stage, there has been repeated news about Smith losing out on opportunities.

We previously reported on Netflix announcing that they have decided not to move forward with Bright 2, a sequel to Smith’s applauded 2017 film. Now, reports Deadline, the streaming platform Roku has opted not to renew This Joka for a second season. Smith was an executive producer on the stand-up comedy series, and Deadline states that the cancelation doesn’t have anything to do with what occurred at the Oscars.

“Roku is believed to never really have had the option to renew the series, which is produced by Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Westbrook Studios and Topgolf Entertainment Group. The option to renew lapsed before Roku launched the show, and certainly before the streamer had the chance to analyse its viewing data, meaning that it was unlikely to return for a second season on the platform.”

Additionally, Netflix has reportedly also shelved another stand-up project by Smith. It is described as being a type of variety show and it is unclear if it will move forward in the future.

Asian Doll Calls Out VladTV For Asking Calboy About Her Romance With King Von

Her dislike of VladTV is well-documented and Asian Doll has once again come forward with a complaint. The rapper has regularly called out the popular interview platform for bringing up her relationship with King Von. Following the Chicago rapper’s murder, Asian Doll publicly grieved his loss and shared images, videos, and memories of their romance. This was met with backlash by many, and VladTV has sometimes asked its guests about their thoughts about the couple.

This has been a point of conversation that Asian Doll has taken issue with, but back in February, it seemed as if the animosity had been put to rest. However, Doll would later share a clip of the brief interaction where she blasted the platform and walked out of the interview before things even got started.

Calboy recently sat down with VladTV, as well, and during his discourse, interviewer Shirley Ju asked him about Doll and Von. He said that from his perspective and based on what he saw for himself, Von was always happy whenever he was with Doll.

Asian Doll reshared the clip but not without calling out VladTV once again while having some choice words for Ju.

“WHY TF VLAD SO OBSESSED WITH ME & VON WTF WHY IS EVERYBODY SO F*CKING OBSESSED WITH US BRO EVERY INTERVIEW THIS B*TCH ASKING ANOTHER ARTIST ABOUT ME & VON WTFFFFFF LEAVE IT BRO DAM,” she tweeted. In another, she added, “Please don’t interview nobody else saying my name before I run down on you shirley w/ yo fake ass [100 emoji].”

Atlantic Records VP Of A&R Keefa Black Believes Album Projects Are “Ruining The Industry”

Conversations centering around album sales projections have been ever-increasing as of late. We’re used to receiving news about what a record is projected to sell within its first week, and all too often, fans judge an artist’s talent or influence based on numbers. News has already begun circulating about albums coming from Jack Harlow and Kendrick Lamar—records that have yet to hit streaming services but were finding projections given as soon as they were announced.

Atlantic Records’ Vice President of A&R, Keefa Black, has a bit to say about this wave, stating that it is “ruining the industry.”

“All this ‘FORCASTING’ projections for album sales before sh*t even comes out is weak,” he wrote. “That sh*t is slowly ruining the industry .. it’s becoming less and less about the MUSIC and more about these FAKE ass numbers. Numbers that’s being purchased at that [crying laughing emojis] Yaull got it thoo [clap emoji][popping champagne emoji].”

Then, he broke down the differences in how “music is consumed in todays world.”

“2022 – (how many times consistently can I get you to listen to me song/album over and over again so it streams) VS 2005 – (how many people can I get to go out and buy my physical CD),” Keefa added, “Physicals are basically outdated and I feel the same with the @billboard charting system.. imagine if they took artist 1st months album sales/streams and then it could be eligible to chart Vs. pump & dump 1st week numbers with no shelf life & projects spiraling down.”

Keefa believes that there is some solution to this problem, especially because fans deserve more time with a body of work that shouldn’t be measured by how many streams or sales it receives within its first week. Check out his posts below.
