DJ Khaled, 21 Savage & Lil Baby Dominate This Week’s “Fire Emoji” Playlist

Lil Baby is clearly striving to dominate the summer, once again, even without a new project out. The rapper is still riding high off of the release of My Turn and is pretty much popping up everywhere, especially this week. That being said, Lil Baby has pretty much dominated this week’s Fire Emoji update so here’s your breakdown:

In the middle of the week, Lil Baby finally unveiled the MC that he’s hinted would be on the “On Me” remix: Megan Thee Stallion. Meg’s verse was unexpected, given that there was anticipation Omeretta would appear on the track. However, Meg show and proved, elevating the November release to prepare for a (vaccinated) Hot Girl Summer. “On Me (Remix)” was a definite addition to this week’s playlist. On top of that, Baby appeared on Joyner Lucas’ “Ramen & OJ,” as well as DJ Khaled’s KHALED KHALED. It was only right we included Baby and Durk’s collab “EVERY CHANCE I GET” from Khaled’s new album.

21 Savage is stepping into the executive producer role for original soundtrack for Spiral: From The Book Of Saw. The Friday gave us the first taste of solo music of the year with “Spiral” which is another hit under the ATL rapper’s belt.

Finally, the highly anticipated single from Baby Keem and Travis Scott, “Durag Activity” finally dropped and is a certified banger already. It’s a necessary spin for your weekend vibes.

Supreme x Nike Air Max 96 Surfaces In New Colorway

Supreme and Nike always come through with dope collaborations throughout any given year and in 2021, they are dropping the Nike Air Max 96. Over the last month, we have seen new and detailed images of the “Black” and “Camo” colorways which give the shoe a nice little canvas. These offerings are quite flattering to the silhouette which hasn’t been used a lot over the last few decades. With these two pairs dropping in the coming months, a brand new colorway has surfaced online, this time thanks to the Instagram sneaker account @yankeekicks.

As you can see in the images below, this shoe is covered in silver all while red is found on the Nike and Supreme logos. Overall, this makes for a very appealing offering that will certainly turn some heads. Just like the other colorways, this shoe has holes throughout the upper which allows you to see what color socks you’re wearing. It’s a nice touch although it will surely act as a polarizing feature for those who aren’t otherwise expecting it.

For now, these do not have a release date, so keep it locked to HNHH as we will be sure to bring you all of the latest updates. In the meantime, let us know what you think of these, in the comments below.

DJ Khaled Offers A Lively Video For ‘Where You Come From’ With Buju Banton, Capleton, And Bounty Killer

DJ Khaled recently dropped his 12th album, Khaled Khaled, on Friday. As he’s done with previous work, the rapper and producer called on some of the music industry’s biggest names to come together for the star-studded release, which he continues to promote with a new video for “Where You Come From,” featuring Buju Banton, Capleton, and Bounty Killer.

The video finds Khaled enjoying the earthy forests of Jamaica, a country that Banton, Capleton, and Bounty Killer call home. They also welcome other people who live in the area to hang out. In a message paired with the new video, Khaled pointed out a unique aspect about the song. “Let’s be CLEAR!” he said. “All these artists have NEVER collaborated on one record before. This is HISTORY. JAMAICA I LOVE YOU!”

Khaled also dropped another video from the album, for the track “Sorry Not Sorry.” It features Jay-Z and Nas, as well as James Fauntleroy and Harmonies By The Hive — who many correctly guessed is actually Beyonce prior to its arrival. Elsewhere on Khaled Khaled, listeners can catch appearances from Lil Wayne, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Bryson Tiller, Cardi B, Roddy Ricch, Megan Thee Stallion, Post Malone, and many more.

You can watch the video for “Where You Come From” above.

Khaled Khaled is out now via Epic Records. Get it here.

Big Meech Is Appealing To The White House For A Prison Release

Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, of Black Mafia Family fame, is currently serving a 30-year-sentence for his role as the leader of the drug trafficking organization that profited the crew millions of dollars in the late 90s and early 00s. Big Meech’s brother Terry “Southwest T” Flenory was granted an early release due to COVID-19 concerns, but unfortunately for Meech, he was not given the same grace.

Meech’s request for compassionate release has been denied on multiple occasions despite vocalized health concerns. Now, it looks like Big Meech and his legal team are looking to take the case all the way to the top. According to Meech and his team, they are reaching out to the White House in hopes of receiving an expedited sentence.

With a slated release in 2031, Big Meech and his brother Terry “Southwest T” were convicted of money laundering and continuing criminal enterprise in 2008 for running their massive, nationwide drug dealing operation. His team reports that although he is a first-time, nonviolent offender, he is being held 23.5 hours each day in solitary confinement. The prison claims this is the only way to keep him safe from COVID-19, which has notably been ravaging through prisons throughout the country.

Meech suffers from uncontrolled hypertension, which his team believes should be enough to grant him a compassionate release, especially considering that the prison has recently revoked his phone and email privileges with no explanation.

He has already completed 72% of his sentence, which his team adds should be enough for a release. He was most recently denied a release in February, which his team believes to be because the prosecutor involved in the case lied.

In other news, 50 Cent is currently working on the first season of BMF, an upcoming crime drama on Starz. The series wrapped up filming season 1 in Atlanta recently, and stars Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr stars as his dad Big Meech.

We’ll keep you updated on subsequent developments regarding Big Meech’s release.

Jake Paul & His Team Hint At Potential OVO Signing

Jake Paul has made a lot of progress in the world of boxing and it’s become clear that he won’t be stopping at just Ben Askren. There is a whole list of fighters he can choose from right now and many are interested to see what he will do against someone who can actually fight. For now, however, Paul remains undefeated and if he can keep up his winning streak, he has a chance of competing for some real belts, as he continues to take the sport seriously.

As for his endorsements, it seems as though he may have just scored the biggest one of them all. According to social media news reporter Def Noodles on Twitter, Jake Paul and his team have been hinting at a new partnership with OVO. Just yesterday, Jake tweeted that it was the best day of his life, all while one of his staff members posted a video while donning an OVO chain.

His editor was also getting into the Drake spirit as he posted a video bumping some Drizzy music, all while claiming “we live in a simulation, today’s been unreal.” Even Jake’s tattoo artist has flown out to see him, and in the pic above, they can all be seen celebrating.

While no one has confirmed the existence of an OVO deal, it seems like all signs are pointing towards a Jake Paul x Drake partnership.

Noname Clarifies What Really Happened Between Her & J. Cole

Around a year ago, emotions all across the nation were at an all-time high following the murder of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. While many with the platform to do so spoke out about the police violence, Noname found the lack of noise from “top-selling rappers” to be very telling. Without naming anyone in particular, she called out “y’all favorite top selling rappers” for “not even willing to put a tweet up.”

She added, “N*ggas whole discographies be about black plight and they no where to be found.” As you may know, this caught the attention of J. Cole and the two exchanged tracks aimed at each other. After a Twitter user re-ignited the conversation that concluded last year, Noname took a moment to explain simply what actually went down between her and the Dreamville head honcho.

On Friday (April 30), the Chicago native explained in a tweet that she was no longer interested, “in proving myself to an internet that will cannibalize the vulnerability of those who choose to publicly learn. it’s cop sh*t. i’m interested in what my community calls me. twitter is not my community.”

Another user posed to Noname that J. Cole had called her out for refusing to educate a year prior. In response, she gave a more clear analysis of what happened. “no. j cole was upset because i tweeted about rappers who profit off blackness while simultaneously being silent when it comes to black death,” explained the rapper.

She continued, “he was angered by the “tone” of a tweet that didn’t even specifically name him.” Other users could not believe the Room 25 artist had been forced to explain herself so many times, even an entire year removed from the situation.

While she did address the situation once more, it seems like she has no lingering feelings. In other Noname news, she recently opted out of appearing on the Judas & The Black Messiah soundtrack after watching the film, citing that the film did not align with her politics.

Former Pentagon Official Claims Government Is Lying About UFOs

Aliens, UFOs, and whether or not they exist have been a hot topic of debate over the years. At this point, most people accept the fact that they do, indeed, exist, although it’s going to be a very long time before we actually interact with them. Not to mention, the government has been fairly hush-hush when it comes to UFOs, although they do confirm new UFO cases when they become way too obvious to ignore. However, for the most part, institutions like the Pentagon have seemingly been withholding information from the masses.

In a new interview with the New York Post, former head of the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, Luis Elizondo, made some bold claims as he stated that members within the Pentagon religious object to the idea of aliens, and therefore won’t acknowledge they exist.

Elizondo went on to say that these practices are extremely shortsighted and that they could be putting a lot of us at risk. While the government doesn’t want to create mass panic, there is no denying that UFOs could become a National Security threat, if not properly treated. With little information being shared, there is no way to prepare the population for a black swan event.

“We are behind the power curve,”  Elizondo explained. “We know that foreign adversaries in other countries are interested in this topic. So there comes a real problem from a national security perspective.”

New information on UFOs is supposed to be released in June, so until then, we will just have to fantasize about what could possibly be out there.

Grammy Chief Addresses The Weeknd’s Boycott Following Ban On Secret Committees

The Recording Academy came under fierce criticism last year after the 2021 Grammy nominations were revealed. The Weeknd, who notably had one of the biggest albums of the past few years with After Hours and one of the biggest songs of the year with “Bling Lights,” did not receive a single nomination at the ceremony.

This pushed the singer to boycott the ceremony, saying in a statement in March, “Because of the secret committees, I will no longer allow my label to submit my music to the Grammys.” On Friday (April 30), the Recording Academy revealed that going forward, the secret voting committees would be eliminated from their practices. According to interim Recording Academy president/CEO Harvey Mason jr., the move was in part because of The Weeknd, but affirms the process had been in the works for months.

“The discussions about possibly removing nominations review started long ago and the real work of putting together a subcommittee to get this right started about eight or nine months ago, so, this isn’t a direct “reaction” to that situation,” explained Mason.

He continued, “That said, any time an artist, especially one of that stature, calls our process into question or thinks something is unfair… the Academy is of course going to be affected by that, and want to work to make things better. I think the sentiment around the Academy has been evolving over the last 12 months, I think momentum has been picking up from the end of last year’s show, and we’ve been changing so much.”

When asked again if The Weeknd’s star power directly impacted the decision, Mason explained, “Did the Weeknd impact someone into thinking this is definitely something that needs to change? I can’t speculate, but I know the goal is to remain relevant and to be on the leading edge of music.”

While remaining airy with his explanation, it seems like The Weeknd was in fact the titular reason for the switch. What are your thoughts? Let us know down in the comments!
