Man Who Attacked Judge Receives Sentence for Probation Violation

A Las Vegas man who went viral for hopping a judge’s bench to attack the head of the court was sentenced to prison on Monday (Jan. 8).

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the man, 30-year-old Deobra Redden, launched himself to beat District Judge Mary Kay Holthus when she decided not to give the man probation for an attempted battery charge.

Redden appeared in a face mask and orange gloves, escorted by six officers. He was sentenced to 19 to 48 months behind bars for the April threat, not the attack on the judge.

“I want to make it clear that I am not changing or modifying the sentence I was imposing last week,” Holthus said.

During the attack, Redden slammed the judge’s head into the wall, hit her in the head, and pulled her hair.
