Lil Uzi Vert’s Pink Tape remains one of the most anticipated albums of the year. Ever since they dropped Eternal Atake, Uzi’s teased their follow-up. However, they haven’t necessarily given fans a solid timeline on when to expect the project. For the most part, they dished out a few guest verses and shared a handful of singles, along with the release of Red + White. However, with the success of “Just Wanna Rock,” it appears that Uzi could be gearing up to drop off a new project soon.
Earlier this year, there were rumors that Lil Uzi Vert’s next album would arrive in February. However, as we approach the final days of the month, it appears that it’s unlikely. Nonetheless, we’ve heard a few updates in recent times from Don Cannon, who will mix the project in its entirety. Apparently, Pink Tape will contain no features whatsoever. Still, we’re awaiting a release date for the project, though it seems like Uzi’s team is narrowing down the tracklist right now.
Don Cannon Reveals How Many Songs Lil Uzi Vert Recorded For “Pink Tape”
During his appearance on My Expert Opinion, Cannon called Uzi one of the best artists he’s worked with in the past, along with Busta Rhymes and the ever-prolific Lil Wayne. Apparently, Uzi’s been working at a Weezy-like pace. As Cannon revealed, the Philly rapper recorded upwards of 700 songs for his next project. “Right now, we working on the album and he got 680 songs [from the last] 18 months,” he said, adding that Uzi records nearly 5 songs on any given day of the week.
In addition to the music in the vault, Cannon provided insight into Uzi’s musical direction on the project. “You might get a rock song, a real rap song because he really rap, you might get the melodic shit that he do,” Cannon said. “And that’s why I referenced Lil Wayne and them because Lil Wayne was the same. He’ll rap you to death, but he’ll still pull out a guitar and give you something.” Hopefully, a release date for Pink Tape comes soon. Check the interview above.
