Kevin Garnett was one of the greatest players in the NBA during his era. Moreover, he was able to bring a championship to the Boston Celtics franchise back in 2008. Overall, it was a great achievement for that team which boasted the talents of Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Rajon Rondo. Unfortunately, Pierce and Garnett eventually had beef with the likes of Ray Allen. This is due to Allen joining those iconic Miami Heat teams during the early 2010s. For years, Garnett didn’t even want to look Allen in his eyes.
However, if you were watching Paul Pierce’s jersey retirement ceremony, you would know that they have patched things up. If you are a Boston Celtics fan, this is truly incredible to see. You never want legendary players to be beefing with one another, especially when they meant so much to their respective teams. Not to mention, you never know what can happen to people from one day to the next. Leaving things on bad terms with people can leave you feeling empty and broken when it is all said and done.
Kevin Garnett Makes A Statement
While speaking on the Allen situation, Garnett explained why he decided to patch things up. Overall, it mostly had to do with Kobe Bryant and his unexpected passing. In the eyes of KG, life can be very fragile, and he didn’t want to leave his relationship with Allen on bad terms. “The passing of Kobe and all of us getting older helped me understand that life is not given to none of us,” Garnett said. “It would have f*cked with me if something were to happen to Ray and I didn’t get a chance to amend this.”
The Garnett-Allen beef was always one-sided, to begin with. Allen never spoke ill of KG, however, Garnett was always making interesting comments about his former teammate. Regardless, the two have mended fences, which is truly great to see. Hopefully, we get to see more reunions between these two, in the future.
