Kanye West’s Ex-Business Manager Drops $4.5 Million Lawsuit

Kanye West can breathe a sigh of relief as his former business manager has dropped a $4.5 million lawsuit against him. The legal battle, which had been ongoing since December 2022, centered around allegations of breach of contract.

Lawsuit Dropped

The former business manager of Kanye West has recently withdrawn the case after ongoing legal exchanges since December 2022. The initial lawsuit, citing a breach of contract, sought $4.5 million in damages.

Thomas St. John, Kanye West’s ex-business manager, initially filed the lawsuit against Ye, seeking $4.5 million in damages for breach of contract. St. John claimed that Ye had hired him in March 2022 with an agreement to pay him $300,000 per month for 18 months.

Unhinged

However, after just three months, St. John was allegedly fired by Ye. St. John confronted Ye about the money owed to him, leading to a heated confrontation where West reportedly screamed at St. John.

In his lawsuit, St. John stated:

“Mr. West became unhinged, heated, and aggressive. He screamed at Mr. St. John and made clear he no longer wanted to work with him.” St. John demanded $4.5 million in damages, alleging that West had violated their contract.

He said Ye told him:

“The 18-month term was bulls*it” and “you’re insane for even thinking I would stick to that.” The business manager demanded $4.5 million in damages.

Another Breach Of Contract

Ye denied all wrongdoing and countersued St. John for the return of the $900,000 paid to him during the three months of employment.

After months of legal back-and-forth, both parties have agreed, resulting in the dismissal of the entire case. The specific terms of the settlement have not been disclosed.

Kanye West was also sued for breach of contract by a former Yeezy employee named Dora Szilagyi in March 2023. Szilagyi sued Ye for $275,000 for breach of contract as well as wrongful termination after claiming she was fired and didn’t get paid what she was promised.

Lil Wayne Loses $20M Lawsuit

Kanye West isn’t the only rapper who has faced legal battles with former managers. Lil Wayne, another rap legend, recently lost a $20 million lawsuit to his former manager, Robert Sweeney. The case, which was concluded in January 2023, involved allegations of overcharging and failure to fulfill managerial duties.
