Joel Embiid Admits He Cares About MVP Award

Joel Embiid has finally admitted the worst-kept secret in the NBA. The Sixers star recently sat down with Rachel Nichols on her show Headliners. During the interview, Embiid finally publicly stated his desire to be the league MVP. Including saying that those who say he doesn’t care about the award are not telling the truth. Of course, Embiid wants to be MVP. Why wouldn’t he want the accolade that goes to only the greatest players in league history?

Embiid has simply been phenomenal this season for the Philadelphia Sixers. The Philly big man has put up monster numbers this season. Including toppling his career average in points. Embiid closed out the 2022-23 regular season averaging 33 points per game. That number is well over his career average, which is currently at 27. Embiid has been a constant dominant force for the Sixers. Stephen A. Smith even believes that he is the most valuable player on any roster in the league.

Joel Embiid Wants His Moment As MVP

Embiid’s own head coach Doc Rivers believes the Sixers big man is the choice for the award. After an incredible performance against the Celtics in the last week of the season, Rivers gave his stamp of approval. However, the MVP Award isn’t necessarily Embiid’s to lose. The discussion on the award has been a heated one over the last few months. As many believe Nikola Jokic could be in the running for his third straight MVP Award. Also, some are ready to crown Giannis with his third MVP award.

Whatever the final decision is, all three players have been amazing this season. But the job is not finished. All three potential MVP Award winners will be a part of the NBA Playoffs. Joel Embiid and Jokic are still looking for their first Finals appearance. But Giannis is looking to add another ring to his already incredible trophy collection.
