Disney Star Orlando Brown To Undergo Mental Evaluation After Arrest

That’s So Raven star Orlando Brown will be undergoing a mental evaluation following his latest arrest. The check will determine whether he’s fit to stand trial in his Ohio criminal case regarding aggravated menacing, a first-degree misdemeanor in the state. Depending on the results of the test, Brown could do a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. TMZ cites Brown’s lawyer filing documents in court for the request.

Police originally arrested Brown while responding to a call regarding a fight in progress between 2 men. The victim claims Brown came at him while wielding a knife and hammer. According to the police report, he “believed Orlando was going to assault him.” He also told police that Brown had been going “crazy.” At the time, Brown was reportedly living under the same roof as the alleged victim. The victim also helped land Brown a movie role, which he has since lost due to the arrest.

Brown has dealt with a myriad of legal issues in recent years. Back in 2016, he was charged with domestic battery, obstruction of justice, drug possession with intent to sell, and possession of contraband in jail. He later appeared on Dr. Phil in 2018. During the episode, he made several viral erroneous claims, such as being the son of Michael Jackson. He also admitted to struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.

“A lot of drinking is what happened,” Brown said, explaining his behavior. “I was drinking a lot. I just found myself in a dark place because I couldn’t really find everybody. It’s kinda like looking for your keys, when you stop looking, they’re right there type of deal. I started to realize what was in front of me. From there, now I’m good.”

Orlando Brown is currently on house arrest as the legal proceedings continue. He posted a $25,000 bond, last week, to get out of jail. Brown starred as Eddie Thomas on That’s So Raven, which aired on Disney Channel from 2003 to 2007.
