Fans Roast 21 Savage “Call Of Duty” Character

After the success of Nicki Minaj’s implementation into Call of Duty, fans were hyped to see what Activision had done with 21 Savage. Savage was the last of the Hip-Hop 50 skins being added to the came, along with Snoop and Nicki. However, now that Savage is available, fans aren’t on board. “Why they got the man looking like 50 savage lol,” one person commented while another noted, “They made him buff!” Unlike Nicki’s impressive rendering, 21 Savage looks like a strange blend between himself and 50 Cent which was then run through a program to make it legally distinct.

However, not everyone was a hater. “Salute to all the Def Jam rappers who got taken advantage of back in the day using their name, image, and likeness in Def Jam Vendetta and never received the money due to them,” one fan wrote. “This new generation of artists like 21 Savage have their business in order.” The Hip-Hop 50 bundle is the latest pop culture addition to Call of Duty. Last month, the game introduced a bundle based on Prime Video’s The Boys. However, clearly, some aspects have been implemented than others.

Fans Pass On 21 Savage Skin

However, the criticism continued. “This how you know they know nothing bout hip hop. They playing deadprez while showcasing 21 savage,” one person argued. Furthermore, many people pointed out that the devs missed a golden opportunity to name the bundle’s melee weapon “Issa Knife”. Instead, the weapon is simply called the “Slaughter King”.

“The community will never get actual character skins we actually want.. like #johnwick or #tylerrake or something related to actual combat. Nobody wanted superheroes with super powers and assault rifles… or Godzilla and King Kong… WTF was that about?!?! 🙄🙄🙄,” one particularly commenter lamented. Meanwhile, many people simply said they were going to stick with the Nicki skin. While each bundle is only around $20, it was certainly a choice to stagger the releases. Regardless, it appears that this is more of a miss than anything else for the ever-popular military shooter. What do you think of the skin? Let us know below.

Fans Are Loving Nicki Minaj’s “Call Of Duty” Operator

August 24 marked the release of the Nicki Minaj bundle in Call of Duty. For $20/2400 CoD Points, you could play as the Trini rapper in all her badass pink glory. The bundle comes with the Nicki skin, themed weapon blueprints (“The Baddest” and “Super Freaky”), a pin-up loading screen, and a skin for the Hummer. Nicki also has access to several unique finishers, including “Get Bodied”. In the brutal move, Nicki jumps onto the back of a downed opponent and grinds her stilettos in their skull. The bundle is currently available for Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0. Furthermore, it will carry over into Modern Warfare III when it drops in November.

The release was announced with a new gameplay trailer that perfectly blended a look at the operator in action with several well-chosen Nicki references. As with the original reveal of the skin, people are actually pretty hyped to play as Nicki. “I don’t know how to play but ima learn!,” announced JT of The City Girls. FaZe Dirty posted a gif of a man offering his credit card to the camera. However, not everyone was a fan. Some saw the skin, and the overall hip hop theming, as Call of Duty attempting to capitalize on the Fortnite model of integrating media IP into the game. But how are people feeling now that it’s playable?

Fans Revel In Playable Nicki Minaj

In short, fans are loving the bundle. Numerous videos have surfaced online of players running riot with the skin. One video from Nicki fan account “Island Boy” shows a player absolutely dominating with the skin. The player racks up kills while also showcasing the wide variety of Nicki voice lines. Meanwhile, another clip shows a streamer becoming distraught when they realize that they have just killed another player wearing the Nicki skin. As they look down at the dead Nicki, they themselves are killed. This leads them to proclaim “Oh my god, my pussy is on Nicki’s face.” Side note, it appears that Nicki goes down in a cloud of pink smoke if you manage to kill her.

No word on whether Nicki herself has tried the skin yet. However, it’s safe to say that fans are hyped and happy. Meanwhile, Nicki’s making headlines elsewhere. “Barbie World”, Minaj’s track with Ice Spice for Barbie, has hit #1 on Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay Chart, which tracks radio plays on “rhythmic radio stations”. Not only was this achieved by a 31% increase in airplay, but it also broke a record. The song’s rise from #7 to #1 was the biggest jump recorded since the chart was first published in 1992.

Nicki Minaj Is a “Monster” Of An Operator

In new trailer promoting the Nicki Minaj bundle, Call of Duty leaned into one of the rapper’s more iconic features. The gameplay trailer, which is nothing we haven’t already seen, takes things up a notch with its audio cues. As Minaj kicks ass, crashes hummers, and generally does Call of Duty things, her character can be heard spitting bars. Specifically, Minaj can be heard utilizing some of her highlights from her verse on Kanye West’s “Monster”. “Pull up in the monster, automobile gangsta,” can be heard as Nicki runs a car off the road. Furthermore, the trailer opens with “Playtime is over when Nicki drops in.” This serves as both a reference to the act of “dropping in” on the map as well as Nicki’s 2007 mixtape Playtime Is Over.

As with the original reveal of the skin, people are actually pretty hyped to play as Nicki. “I don’t know how to play but ima learn!,” announced JT of The City Girls. FaZe Dirty posted a gif of a man offering his credit card to the camera. However, not everyone was a fan. Many saw the skin, and the overall hip hop theming, as Call of Duty attempting to capitalize on the Fortnite model of integrating media IP into the game. Nicki Minaj & 21 Savage Rumored To Become “Call Of Duty” Characters

Nicki Minaj and 21 Savage are two artists at the top of their respective games right now. Of course, Nicki is set to release Pink Friday 2 in November. Moreover, 21 is currently on tour with Drake. He has been in Boston for the last couple of nights, however, he will not be making the trip out to Montreal. In fact, 21 cannot attend any of the Canadian events for the tour. Although this has proven to be disappointing, Drake is ready to rock the show on his own.

When you think of both 21 and Nicki Minaj, you probably aren’t thinking about Call of Duty. Well, you may just have to change that attitude, very soon. According to a leaker by the name of @HeyImAlaix on Twitter, there is some data mining that suggests the two artists will soon be characters in the game. They would come in the form of “operators.” Essentially, they would be playable characters that you can use in multiplayer. Overall, this would be for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.

Kevin Durant Gets Warzone Operator

Call of Duty: Warzone is the long-running first-person shooter’s answer to the massively popular battle royale genre. Originally released in March 2020, the free-to-play game has earned a massive following. In April 2021, developer Activision announced that Warzone had surpassed 100 million active players. It also spawned a robust competitive scene. Arguably, the game became the premiere esports product for the Call of Duty franchise, even if Activision wanted to focus its attention on the Call of Duty League.

While Warzone was not without its flaws or detractors, it proved to be a big enough success for Activision to warrant a sequel. Warzone 2.0 was released in 2022 alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. A core part of the game’s visual aesthetic is the ability to buy specific skins, known as “operators”, to apply to your character. These often look like famous individuals, and now an NBA superstar is set to become the latest one.

Kevin Durant Is Latest Sports Superstar-themed Operator

In the past, Warzone has added operators modeled after the likes of Neymar, Messi, and Paul Pogba. Now it appears that the Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant will be the next sports star enshrined in the game. A teaser clip was uploaded by the official Warzone account that made reference to an “Easy Money Sniper”. EasyMoneySniper just so happens to be Durant’s Instagram handle. This was seemingly confirmed when the Warzone Facebook page “accidentally” uploaded the clip with the caption “KD_Teaser”. That was quickly deleted, but not before plenty of screenshots had been taken.

Further details have revealed that the Kevin Durant operator will become available on May 10 alongside the launch of Warzone 2.0‘s third in-game season. Based on previous operator releases, Kevin Durant will likely cost 2400 CoD points (~$20). “Swish”, a pro Warzone player for the New York Subliners organization, also uploaded images showing the Kevin Durant operator model.

Durant is seen wearing gear of the in-game weapons manufacturer Bruen, as well as wielding a climbing axe. As for the actual Durant, he is still locked in a tight playoff battle with the New York Knicks. Are you excited to play as Kevin Durant in Warzone?
