LPB Poody Aims For The Top With His Heartfelt ‘Eiffel Tower’ Performance On ‘UPROXX Sessions’

LPB Poody returns to UPROXX Sessions this week with a heartfelt performance of his I’m The One standout, “Eiffel Tower.” After performing the title track in his previous appearance, he switches things up this time, delivering a soulful rendition of the moody cut, which shows off his thoughtfulness and impresses as the Florida rapper details his rough life experiences.

Poody’s career has been flourishing since his 2021 track “Batman” picked up steam on TikTok, exposing him to a new audience far outside his Orlando stomping grounds and putting him in perfect position for a breakout year. I’m The One, released in December of 2021 capitalized on the attention, showcasing Poody’s growing talents and pairing him with a number of big-name stars including Lil Wayne, Moneybagg Yo, Yung Bleu, and his fellow Florida native Rick Ross.

Masked Wolf Brings A Little ‘Pandemonium’ To The ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Stage

Australian rapper Masked Wolf is enjoying the success of his 2021 sleeper hit “Astronaut In The Ocean,” but he brought a different song to the UPROXX Sessions stage, injecting a little “Pandemonium” into his performance. Having already proven himself a capable performer in the past, his comfort level here reveals a veteran who is just getting started.

Masked Wolf has been going strong since 2018 when he debuted with the single “Speed Racer” on Teamwrk Records, where he released a string of solid singles, including “Astronaut In The Ocean.” “Astronaut” became his signature hit after becoming a viral favorite on TikTok, where it has soundtracked over 7.5 million videos to date. Its success there prompted its re-release in 2021, which led to it being certified 3x Platinum in its home country, and 2x Platinum here in the US, where it peaked at No. 6 on the Hot 100. Masked Wolf followed up with the release of his debut album Astronomical last September and will undoubtedly look to build on that success in 2022.

ASAP Tyy Gives A Delightful Performance Of The Summery ‘Ting’ On ‘UPROXX Sessions’

ASAP Tyy looks like he’s having the time of his life during his UPROXX Sessions performance of the dancehall-inspired “Ting.” The Harlem-raised rapper’s single is imbued with all the jerk chicken-scented energy of the New York summertime, so it’s no wonder he was feeling so good while performing it, kicking his legs up and grinning into the camera like a kid in a candy store.

While the ASAP Mob that Tyy reps is best known for producing father-to-be ASAP Rocky and “Plain Jane” star ASAP Ferg, it’d be a mistake to overlook the less prominent members like Tyy. They’ve secretly been releasing some of the most intriguing, charismatic, and consistent music from the posse over the past few years, even if they seemingly fly just below most folks’ radars. Tyy himself is three mixtapes into his career, which helps to explain his lower profile (for comparison, Ferg has three albums, two mixtapes, and an EP to his name), but he’s been building up his discography with strong singles for the past year, dropping tracks like “100 Rounds,” “1990,” and “Who Ain’t With Me.”

As his catalog grows, so too will his audience, especially with fun summer singles like “Ting.” When he does drop his debut solo album, it’ll be well worth fans’ time to give it a spin.

Stunnaman02 Brings His Viral Hit ‘Big Steppin’ To An Bombastic ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Performance

On the latest episode of UPROXX Sessions, Bay Area rapper Stunnaman02 steps up to the mic to perform his viral hit “Big Steppin.” The breakout single has been a favorite of the Bay Area social scene, with everyone from San Francisco Mayor London Breed to 49ers mascot Sourdough Sam doing the associated dance.

The “Big Steppin” dance is also boiling hot on TikTok, home of such Soulja Boy-esque, star-making viral dance crazes, with over 38 million views since its release in June of last year. The success of that song will be a hard act to follow, but fortunately for Stunnaman, he’s also got a few side hustles, including his role in the A24 favorite The Last Black Man In San Francisco. He’s also got a clothing line and a self-produced juice drink, 02 Juice. Even though the Fillmore native is still just a regional favorite, he’s showing he has all the ingredients to produce a full-blown rap mogul in the making.

Jucee Froot Delivers A Belligerent Performance Of ‘Balmain’ On ‘UPROXX Sessions’

Fresh off her recently released single, “Belaire Bleu,” Jucee Froot co-signs another big-name brand with an assertive performance for UPROXX Sessions. The Memphis rapper shows off her razor-sharp flow and flashy fashion sense at the same time with “Balmain,” snapping off a stream of rapid-fire punchlines over a trunk-rattling trap beat while decked out in a studded white jacket. The performance is a whirlwind showcase of breath control, confidence, and charisma, sure to capture a few new fans as she begins her 2022 campaign.

Although she’s still a relative newcomer, Jucee is no stranger to the rap game. She’s been steadily grinding her way up from the Memphis underground, earning the respect of city legends like Juicy J on the way. It’s paid off, too; in 2020, she featured on the soundtrack of Issa Rae’s hit show Insecure, landed a placement on the DC Comics girl-power adventure Birds Of Prey, and dropped an attention-getting debut mixtape Black Sheep featuring A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Juicy J, and Rico Nasty. While she took a bit of a break during 2021, she returned strong toward the end of the year with her Grinch-y video for “Christmas List.” After opening the year with “Belaire Bleu,” she’s set for an even bigger breakout in 2022.

Stockz’s ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Performance Of ‘Bored Ape Yacht Club’ Evangelizes NFTs

In today’s episode of UPROXX Sessions, Stockz drops by to talk about one of hip-hop’s hottest topics at the moment, NFTs. The aptly-named cross-coastal advises listeners to get their money up with his laid-back performance of “Bored Ape Yacht Club,” which is named for the popular NFT collection currently occupying the profile pics of many of your favorite entertainers and plenty of crypto enthusiasts.

The Bored Apes belong to a series of cartoon monkeys adorned with various wardrobes and oddball accessories that doubles as kind of an insiders’ club of early blockchain adopters. The whole collection of 1,000 tokens reportedly brought in about $2 million and fans have access to a private Discord server.

While Stockz — who hails from Houston by way of Roanoke, Virginia and currently resides in LA — doesn’t break down the NFT phenomenon so much as use it as a prop to further flex his wealth. “Bored Ape Yacht Club” is one of the standout singles from his 2021 album Seoul Tape, which he released through his own imprint, Buy Money Ent.

Jay Worthy Cruises Through His ‘Survivor Series 95’ Verse For ‘UPROXX Sessions’

Last year, UPROXX Sessions ended on a West Coast favorite, and for the first UPROXX Sessions of 2022, another one comes through with his own take on that laid-back LA sound. Compton veteran Jay Worthy pulls up to perform his verse from Westside Gunn’s “Survivor Series 95,” which also features Bay Area stalwart Larry June on the album version.

For his Sessions set, though, Jay rolls solo, decked out in a Supreme hoodie and balaclava, which has the added benefit of adhering to COVID safety regulations while he cruises through his boastful, tough-guy rhymes. Jay, who dropped three projects in 2021 (No Sleep for the Wicked, No Sleep for the Wicked, and Two4Two), is managed by Griselda Records and recently told Complex he’s working on a joint project with LA producer Dâm-Funk. Thanks to his independent status and prolific grind, though, he could drop anything at any time.

Niko G4 Keeps It Player Performing ‘Never Change’ In A Mellow ‘UPROXX Sessions’

Ladies and gents, the final UPROXX Sessions performance of 2021 is here. Since we’ve spent so much of the year highlighting LA’s underground scene at our LA-based studios, it’s only right that we close out the year with one last veteran LA artist: The underrated Niko G4 of Dom Kennedy‘s OPM crew. In typical OPM fashion, Niko comes through with a mellow performance of his laid-back September single, “Never Change,” vowing to “always keep it player” — the overarching theme of his July 2020 project, pLAyer 4ever.

His first full-length since 2017’s Roll The Dice 2, pLAyer 4ever features appearances from the Bay Area rising star Larry June, Niko’s fellow LA native Mani Coolin, and, of course, OPM general Dom Kennedy. This year, Niko followed up with another full-length record, Winners Tape, tapping OPM family Dom and Jay 305, as well as LA G-Funk revivalist G Perico, Texas producer Troy Noka, and San Diego firestarter Rob Stone. With Niko’s increased activity, it looks like Dom isn’t the only member of his crew feeling revitalized in recent years.

AzChike And Rucci Go Back-And-Forth On ‘Get Back Gang’ For ‘UPROXX Sessions’

Rucci and AzChike have both done individual UPROXX Sessions performances (“Believe In Me” and “Amiri,” respectively), but today, both return for a joint performance of their Kourtesy Of Us standout, “Get Back Gang.” The two LA rappers display the same chemistry from their joint album here, delivering their nonchalant verses with a well-timed give-and-go that would even make the Showtime Lakers stop and give props.

The newly-formed duo isn’t the first to grace the Sessions set, following their fellow LA undergrounders BlueBucksClan, who performed twice (“She Busy” and “Horace Grant“), and Blimes And Gab, who rocked the first-ever tandem Sessions with their fan-favorite hit “Shellys (It’s Chill).” Rucci and AzChike have more in common with the latter, despite being closely affiliated with BlueBucks; both sets of rappers had flourishing solo careers but found that their joint efforts drew enough attention to warrant recording full projects. “Get Back Gang” is a prime example of the strength of Rucci and AzChike’s bond, as they demonstrate complementary strengths both in the back-and-forth flow on the verses and the concurrent rhymes on the chorus.

LPB Poody Boasts ‘I’m The One’ In An Assertive ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Performance

Orlando rapper LPB Poody might be at the start of his career, but his performance and energy are already off-the-charts, as demonstrated by his propulsive performance of his newly released single “I’m The One” for UPROXX Sessions. Packed to bursting with boastful gun talk and hot-blooded, me-against-the-world truculence, the thumping track lets Poody fully engage and bring his hardened outlook to vivid life as he holds eye contact with the camera.

Fully committing to music in 2016, Poody’s perseverance marks a 180-degree course change from his early life, when he was in and out of juvenile detention. Although he’s still facing a probation violation charge from earlier this year, Poody’s music illustrates exactly why he felt he needed to turn his life around — and the passion with which he raps highlights how wise a decision it was. Like many artists of his generation, he can credit his career taking off this year to TikTok, where his 2019 single “Address It” has become a favorite on the app, driving streams elsewhere and propelling him to a new starting point, where he has the chance to leave the violent past behind and embrace a much brighter future.
