Pressa Brings The Wavy ‘Blame Me” To ‘UPROXX Sessions’

You may know the Ontario rapper Pressa as one of the opening acts on Drake’s 2017 Boy Meets World European tour, catapulting him into the spotlight. If not get acquainted with today’s UPROXX Sessions talent responsible for hits like “420 in London” featuring Lil Uzi Vert and “Chrome Hearts” with the late Drakeo The Ruler.

Decked in all black, including his signature ski mask, Pressa performs his single “Blame Me,” released back in August. He starts off his UPROXX Sessions pondering the haters and why those around him switched up, two questions essential to any rapper’s catalog. His energetic performance rivals the track’s lyrical content like “I gave them all my heart and they left me so scarred, ooh, / They crossed me and you helped them play a part in it,” where Pressa reminds the audience that it’s truly him versus the world.

Raiche Delivers A Soulful Rendition of ‘Fool’ For ‘UPROXX Sessions’

This week, UPROXX Sessions welcomes R&B singer-songwriter, Raiche, to the bathroom stage. Named one of Billboard‘s “R&B Artists to Watch in 2021,” she’s amassed more than 20 million streams worldwide and performed at Essence Festival earlier this summer.

Raiche has come a long way since growing up in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, just two hours outside Boston. Her single “Drive,” was featured in Netflix’s “Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker,” and today, she joins UPROXX Sessions with her candid heartbreak song, “Fool.” The track from her upcoming debut album, Loveland, is a cautionary tale to those in relationships as the singer declares: “I don’t wanna be the fool for you no more / I don’t wanna play that part / I don’t want it to go that far.”

Buddy Brings The Jazzy ‘Ain’t Fair’ To ‘UPROXX Sessions’

UPROXX Sessions returns with a performance from a West Coast favorite, Buddy.

In 2018, the rapper made his major label debut with Harlan & Alondra. Fans of the Compton-born-and-bred MC went almost four years without a project until he dropped his sophomore album, Superghetto, in March this year. Although short, with features from heavy hitters like Tinashe, T-Pain, Ari Lennox, and Blxst, it’s no surprise that Buddy delivers an excellent, laid-back performance of the album’s “Ain’t Fair.”

Buddy takes the 3 minutes to detail the “lifestyle of the super ghetto fellow,” including drug use, his musings on gentrification in the hood, and exes popping back up in his life. The performance showcases Buddy’s range as he switches flows over a jazz-inspired beat and demonstrates his love for LA by wearing a tee from the Fairfax-based design collective, Brain Dead.

Sub Urban Performs His Nihilistic “Bandit” For ‘UPROXX Sessions’

UPROXX Sessions is back with another new performance from dark pop New Jersey artist Danny Maisonneuve, aka Sub Urban. With his debut single “Cradles” amassing over half a billion streams on Spotify and TikTok virality, the 22-year-old singer-songwriter is a pop-punk fan favorite and multi-hyphenate known for writing and producing his projects.

Today, the alternative electronic pop artist joins UPROXX Sessions to perform “Bandit,” from his debut album Hive. His live rendition of Hive’s second track is ominous, paired with his signature whisper-tone and fiddly dance moves. Decked out in relaxed plaid suiting, fitting for a Tim Burton production and with lyrics like “swimming through sand, the desert’s candid, the dunes will rule,” Sub Urban brings listeners into a mysterious and folk-ridden universe.

Inland Empire Rapper KingMostWanted Brings ‘Cali Lovin’ To ‘UPROXX Sessions’

San Bernardino rapper KINGMOSTWANTED has proved he’s one of Cali’s most promising talents. His single “In My City” had a viral moment on Tik-Tok, piling millions of views and thousands of videos from creators. And with singles like “Cali Lovin” and collaborations with West Coast artists like AZ Chike, label mate MCM Raymond & KayDaBandit, KINGMOSTWANTED doesn’t shy away from his roots.

In today’s UPROXX Sessions, he represents the West with his single “Cali Lovin,” sampling Ice Cube’s infamous 90’s banger “Check Yo Self. The song is upbeat and boastful, selling California dreams with KINGMOSTWANTED rapping of the state’s infamous Interstate 10 (I-10) and lyrics like “weed puffin, Cali loving, the music up high and I’m outchea thuggin.” In addition to delivering a turnt-up rendition of his latest single, he brings his crew, a cup of coffee, and a laid-back cadence to Uproxx Studios.

Nascar Aloe Returns To ‘UPROXX Sessions’ With The Abrasive ‘Fence Hopper’

The last time we saw North Carolina punk rapper Nascar Aloe on UPROXX Sessions, he was lashing out against the system with a twitchy performance of “I Throw A Fit.” Today, he’s back, but the intervening years haven’t dulled his edge at all. He’s just as intent on raging against the machine, bringing the abrasive anti-establishment “Fence Hopper” to Uproxx Studios with an old-school punk look complete with hair spikes, a ripped-up denim jacket, and enough studs and spikes to set off every metal detector in LAX from a mile away.

On a glitchy, trip-hop-ish beat, Aloe admonishes the listener for toeing the line of outright rebellion, even the face of massive social upheaval, dread-inducing climate change, and open police brutality. “I gave up on peace, ’cause I don’t even see it in the streets,” he bemoans. Who the f*ck do you call in this case? ‘Cause it’s ‘f*ck police.’”

TRAETWOTHREE Encourages A Lover To ‘Keep Doing You’ For ‘UPROXX Sessions’

Los Angeles-bred newcomer TRAETWOTHREE didn’t have to travel far to come to Uproxx Studios for his UPROXX Sessions performance of “Keep Doing You.” Born and raised in the Crenshaw district, he’s the latest in a proud LA legacy of hip-hop-influenced crooners who perfectly balance street wisdom with an emotional vulnerability that also includes fellow Sessions alumni Blxst, Kalan.FrFr, and Kyle Banks. In “Keep Doing You,” the Crenshaw crooner delivers a smooth West Coast banger perfect for late-night cruising and laid-back turn-ups.

Trae, whose debut project Out The District is out now on Ncredible/Art@War/Atlantic Records, plugs the cool, kickback vibe of LA nightlife into the post-hyphy groove that has come to dominate the LA sound over the past few years, detailing his experiences with smooth precision and velvety vocals. As he puts it, “People look at Los Angeles as having a lot of gangbanging and negativity, but we want to give it a different feel. I’m a young and fly night owl. This is the positive player side of Crenshaw.”

Roy Woods Brings The Sultry ‘Insecure’ To ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Ahead Of His ‘Mixed Emotions’ Album Release

Drake isn’t the only member of his label releasing music this summer. OVO Sound rap-crooner Roy Woods is also gearing up to release his own new album, Mixed Emotions, this Friday, August 5. So, it’s only right that he dropped by Uproxx Studios to deliver a simmering performance of his sultry single, “Insecure,” for UPROXX Sessions.

It has been nearly five years since Roy last released a full-length album, 2017’s Say Less. Fans got a glimpse of his evolution in 2020 on the Dem Times EP, so it’ll be interesting to see how his sound has evolved even more since then. The Brampton native expressed his gratitude to his followers for their patience on Twitter and promised to reward for it, as well. “To those of you who have supported my journey, I appreciate y’all,” he wrote. “I know you’re expecting an album this week, but I’m adding something special to it, so stay tuned for more.”

Zelooperz Wonders ‘Who U Love’ In A Tender ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Performance

Over the past year, Detroit native Zelooperz has drawn attention as a member of Danny Brown’s Bruiser Brigade, popping up in places like The Alchemist’s This Thing Of Ours 2 (on the track “Wildstyle”), Arizona rap trio Injury Reserve’s By The Time I Get To Phoenix (on “SS San Francisco”), and on LA iconoclast Earl Sweatshirt’s Sick! (on “Vision”). He also featured on UPROXX Sessions performer Na-Kel Smith’s A Dream No Longer Deferred in 2020.

So, it’s only right that he follows in Smith’s footsteps, making his own debut on UPROXX Sessions to perform “Who U Love” from his March project, Get WeT.Radio. The song is a semi-tender ode to a lover, with Z insisting, “Being without you a dealbreaker, I’d rather rot.” It’s a short but sweet track that shows the Motor City rapper isn’t afraid to bare his heart.

Seddy Hendrinx Offers An Illuminating Performance Of ‘Lights’ On ‘UPROXX Sessions’

Like the inspiration for his name, Jacksonville, Florida rap crooner Seddy Hendrinx favors melodic trap bangers about his interior thoughts, but unlike Future, Seddy leans further into his R&B influences to tackle more introspective material — material like his laid-back Well Sed single “Lights,” which he stopped by Uproxx Studios to perform for UPROXX Sessions.

Although still a relative newcomer, Seddy has quite the catalog under his belt already, beginning with the 2018 mixtape Death B4 Dishoner Loyalty over Everything. Since then, he’s released projects at a pace equivalent to one year (he dropped two in 2019 and two in 2020, using 2021 to work on his 2022 debut album Well Sed, which dropped this week via Atlantic Records). His releases have included an impressive array of features, including 24Hrs, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Fivio Foreign, G Herbo, Gunna, T-Pain, and his Generation Now labelmate, Jack Harlow.
