Overall, the Cortez is a shoe that mostly got a lot of wear out on the West Coast. However, it was a staple Forrest Gump as the titular character always wore a pair of white, blue, and red Cortez. At the end of the day, this shoe is an underappreciated classic. Its simplicity is what it has going for it, and for the most part, fans still love these.

Unfortunately, Nike hasn’t done that much with the shoe over the years. Although they did have a recent collab with CLOT, this shoe has mostly just been very quiet. That said, when new colorways do make their way to the market, they end up making a considerable amount of noise. Some fans have been starved for a new Nike Cortez, and soon, it seems like the brand will finally be quelling that hunger. In the images below, you can find the new Nike Cortez “University Blue.”

However, they haven’t done a lot of new things with the sneaker. Instead, this shoe is thought of as one of those staples that you shouldn’t really touch. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing as this shoe will always have its place in history. Moreover, who can forget its association with the film Forrest Gump and its title character?

That said, CLOT and Nike have been changing the tide in terms of Nike Cortez innovation. CLOT’s Edison Chen is a huge fan of this silhouette, and he has wanted to offer his take on it. Over the last few months, we have seen a white and black colorway, as well as a black and yellow offering. Now, however, Chen and his CLOT brand are coming through with a white, blue, and red model reminiscent of the OG colorway. And yes, this model is going to be called “Forrest Gump.”
