Mick Jenkins Addresses The “Elephant in The Room” On His Compelling Third Studio Album

Since his breakout in 2014 with the classic mixtape The Water[s], Mick Jenkins has been one of the most consistent rappers of the 2010s, and this Friday, the Chicago-bred artist returns with his first studio album since 2018’s Pieces of a Man.

Titled Elephant In The RoomMick Jenkins’ latest record is a 12-track effort that comes laced with guest features from serpentwithfeet, Ayinde Cartman, Ben Hixon, and greenSLLIME.

When speaking on Elephant In The Room, Mick Jenkins said the following on his website:

This album is an attempt to address various unspoken personal and/or general truths. And how they have affected me and can affect those around me. From my estranged relationship with my father to friendships that don’t feel the same anymore to the even more basic idea of acknowledging that I need help. We become accustomed to allowing none progressive qualities and truths to occupy so much space in our lives simply by ignoring them, or ignoring them despite them being right in our faces! I intend to face several of those dormant issues/topics head-ons in the hopes that others can, at the very least, identify with the spaces I’ve grown from.

Elephant In The Room is a body of work that’s more than deserving of back-to-back spins, so do yourself a favor and dive into Mick Jenkin’s new full-length album below.

Curren$y Teams Up With Harry Fraud For “Regatta”

New Orleans rapper Curren$y has always been lauded for his prolific work ethic

In an era when new rappers are expected to drop at least once a year, the 40-year-old rap game veteran blows a lot of the newer generation out of the water. Just this year, Curren$y has dropped numerous projects, including his most recent effort, Regatta, an eight-track collaboration with Brooklyn, NY producer Harry Fraud.

Back in September, the “Jet Life” rapper announced he was in the midst of a seven mixtape run that would conclude by 2021. Releasing Highest In Charge on August 27, Matching Rolexes on September 17, Still Stoned On Ocean on October 8 and Regatta today, on October 29, Curren$y has dropped four times in just over two months, and this new Harry Fraud project might be his best effort.

Regatta‘s production, handled exclusively by Fraud, is groovy and heavily inspired by the 70s and 80s. Every beat is tailor made for Curren$y and is Fraud at his best. Using sounds and samples rarely used by other, contemporary producers, the Saaab Stories producer flexes every bit of his talent and builds perfect environments for Spitta to spit exactly the way he’s supposed to, and features from 2 Chainz, Larry June, Jay Worthy and Styles P highlight Regatta and flow seamlessly with Curren$y’s endless verses and quick-witted bars.

From “Willy & Sal” to “Key West Classic,” Regatta is the quintessential Curren$y project and is perfect for driving with the windows down during these last couple days before it gets too cold.

So go spin Regatta by Curren$y and Harry Fraud and let us know what you think down in the comments.

Megan Thee Stallion Delivers “Something For Thee Hotties” From Her Archives

It’s a good day for hot girls everywhere. Megan Thee Stallion has delivered a new 21-track projectSomething for Thee Hotties, straight from her archives. The nearly featureless project includes an appearance from Juicy J on “Trippy Skit,” but otherwise, Meg carries listeners through with her braggadocious bars.

In her typical fashion, Coach Megan raps plenty about being a bad bitch, having men at her beck and call, and shaking ass like only she can. If you love Thee Stallion for her antics, then you’ll certainly love Something for Thee Hotties.

From the sounds of things, this could be the last music we’ll be hearing from Meg in 2021. “Freestyles y’all been asking for plus a few unreleased songs from my archives to hold y’all over for the rest of the year,” she captioned the album’s announcement post from last week.

On top of the release, the 26-year-old has also been celebrating her upcoming college graduation. Talk about real hot girl shit!

A$AP Rocky Re-Releases Debut Mixtape “LIVE.LOVE.A$AP” On Digital Streaming Platforms

A$AP Rocky dropped his debut mixtape LIVE.LOVE.A$AP at the perfect time.

With digital access to music expanding at a rapid rate, it was becoming easier and easier for up-and-coming rappers to quickly establish fanbases in their cities, as well as across the country, and across the world.

LIVE.LOVE.A$AP took advantage of that in a major way. Despite Rocky’s Harlem roots and the mixtape’s occasional homages to New York City and its signature hip-hop sound, LIVE.LOVE.A$AP draws influences from every corner of the country, from Atlanta to Houston to The Bay. That variety in sound, combined with Rocky’s affinity for high-end fashion designers like Raf Simons and Rick Owens, turned him into a bonafide superstar in the blink of an eye.

Today, nearly 10 years after LIVE.LOVE.A$AP dropped in 2011, the mixtape has finally reached digital streaming platforms.

Unfortunately, the re-released version does not include fan-favorite tracks “Kissin’ Pink” and “Out Of This World,” but does include one new track, “Sandman” and the rest of the original mixtape. Boasting features from Schoolboy Q on “Brand New Guy,” and A$AP Mob members Nast and Twelvyy on “Trilla,” LIVE.LOVE.A$AP is a blast of nostalgia, with songs like “Peso” throwing it back to a simpler time, and production from legendary producer Clams Casino woven throughout the album.

While Rocky has seemingly strayed further and further from music in recent years, the “Goldie” shared a heartfelt message on Twitter yesterday, marking the tenth anniversary of his debut tape and paying tribute to the experiences and people that helped him along the way. Writing, “FROM DA $TA$H HOU$E 2 DA LATE NIGHT$ AT DA $TUDIO$ WIT NO CHICKEN , DI$ PROJECT WA$ HOW DA WORLD FIR$T HEARD WHO ROCKY IZ WHO JODYE IZ WHO FLACKO IZ.,” Rocky made it clear how important this project was, and still is.

Since Big Sean delivered his fire L.A. Leakers freestyle, the Detroit rapper has returned with full force. The short-lived mixtape may not last long, but the pair of musicians are not playing around. R&B Singer Amaal Shows Off Her Mesmerizing Voice On New EP, “Milly”

Somali-Canadian star Amaal has returned with her sophomore EP, titled Milly. A press release sent to HNHH reveals that with this new project, the R&B artist hopes to “[celebrate] her own sexual liberation in her truest form,” also adding that “Milly is Amaal replacing the fear of judgment and shame from her strict upbringing with unabashed female autonomy and messages of sexual empowerment.”

The project’s name comes from a former nickname that the “Honey” singer used when she wanted to remain anonymous while exploring the outside world of her tightly knit community. On her freshman EP, Black Dove, Amaal embarked on a journey of self-acceptance, and her growth from there has been exponential.

Milly is the first time I experienced creating without censoring myself,” she shared. “I wanted to push those boundaries I always felt suffocated by. It’s the first time I’m truly just having fun, celebrating my growth, femininity and sensuality.”

For Amaal, this new project was comparable to therapy, and she hopes that the 7 tracks are able to liberate and empower her listeners in the same way it did for her.

Just last month, she shared the single “Heaven,” which quickly became beloved by fans. Milly as a whole has a very similar vibe, so the next time you’re in the mood for some sensual R&B, you know that Amaal is your girl.

B.o.B. Drops Deluxe Version Of 2020 Album “Murd & Mercy”

After dominating the early 2010s with B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray and Strange Clouds, two platinum albums that received critical acclaim and universal adoration from fans, the Atlanta took a hard left and disappeared from the limelight.

The “Magic” rapper dove into flat-Earth theories and other controversial topics, and he suffered as a result. None of his projects since 2012 have performed even close to as well as his first two studio albums, and after a glaring lack of support for his 2018 album, Naga, the now-32-year-old claimed he was retiring from the rap game.

But with today’s release of Murd & Mercy (Deluxe), B.o.B is back.

Adding four bonus tracks to last year’s 10-track effort, only available for purchase on shopbobbyray.com, he deluxe version of Murd & Mercy plays as a narrative of a man ready for the end of the world. Spitting over mostly trap beats, B.o.B flexes his lyrical prowess and dives further into a handful of conspiracy theories he has already touched on before. Including a couple 50s-style radio interludes, Murd & Mercy (Deluxe) has an apocalyptic feel and is another step away from the B.o.B we knew a decade ago.

SahBabii Drops New Project “Do It For Demon” After Best Friend’s Death

Atlanta rapper SahBabii has come a long way from his cartoonish characters, nautical references, and playful ad-libs on his newest project Do It For Demon. The latest full-length release from the 24-year-old rapper comes following the death of Sah’s closest friend Demon, for whom the album is dedicated.

Showing a much more personal side of his artistry, many of the songs on Do It For Demon speak directly to Sah’s close friendship with Demon, a childhood friend who lived with the rapper’s family for years. The project was recorded largely in solitude, with Sah going through a cathartic production process for this one.

This follows the release of singles including “Bread Head” and “Switch.”
